章 40: The emperor’s warning (1)

''Your highness, shouldn't we get that maid released?'' In the queen's palace, deep inside the bed chambers, pink eyes shifted towards the young lady in the reflection, brushing through damp pink hair with a detangling brush.

Not hearing a response, the young lady paused her movement and lifted her gaze to the mirror, only to meet the sight of pink hair. Normally, those pink eyes should be filled with anxiety and worry for the mentioned maid. 

However, now they were particularly empty and one could feel the chill within them, as though what she just said was the casual changing of the weather and not a life.

''Y-Your highness?'' Stunned, the young lady blinked her eyes, only to see the familiar sight of innocent pink eyes filled with anxiety and worry.

'..Must be an illusion…' The young lady thought, knowing certainly that the queen was not capable of such eyes.
