Finley was sitting there, just staring into her eyes. Her hazel eyes seemed to be glowing with some emotion that Abrial couldn't place. She already couldn't tell emotions well; how was she supposed to guess what someone else was feeling when her brain had stopped working?
Suddenly, Abrial leaned forward. It was a split-second decision—or maybe it was automatic, and not a decision at all. She pressed her lips lightly against Finley's, closing her eyes and just feeling the soft squish of Finley's lips against her own. After a few seconds, she pulled back, looking into Finley's eyes with her own wide obsidian eyes.
Finley's face was completely pink. Her eyes flashed. What kind of flash was that?! A good one, or a bad one?! Abrial's heart was pounding in her ears. She didn't feel a single drop of pain in her body anymore; only a tingling, heated excitement, and the heat in her cheeks.
