[A/N: The later part of the chapter will be going over the types of magic seen and/or used in both the YGGDRASIL Game and New World in the Overlordverse]
[Kyle Freemen's Pov]
[Congratulations Player: IAmTheFr33 for winning the game! You have been rewarded with a Golden Apple!]
[Golden Apple - A consumable that heals the consumer's body at an incredible rate while also making the consumer's skin as hard as Iron for a 5-hour duration, and the last effect of consuming this fruit grants the consumer 24 hours to their natural lifespan]
[Would you like to redeem your reward in the real world?]
[Y/N]
Suddenly finding myself back in the real world with that message on my screen I couldn't help but think that I was still hallucinating all of this.
I mean, who wouldn't?
Suddenly downloading a game and finding yourself in an entirely different world in your own body where you had to fight to the death against others to be the last man standing.
Luckily, there was an option before the game started where I set my Pain Setting to 1%...and I still shudder from the pain I felt.
I felt like I was getting punched by a boxer just from 1% of the pain, I can't even imagine 100%...
Not to mention I actually felt as though I was in an entirely different world...
I could smell the rusted metal and fresh air around me, I could feel the rough earth beneath me, and I could even feel pain...
By that point, I no longer considered what I was experiencing as a hallucination...
Moving over to the yes option on the screen I clicked and froze as blinding light flowed from the screen and into the air where it started condensing into a round shape.
Although the light was blinding, for some reason I could look at the light show before me without feeling any harm or pain from looking at the light.
Before long the light stopped flowing from the screen into the floating object and as the blinding object covered in the pure white light began to dim until the light that covered the object was absorbed into the object, revealing a shining apple that looked to be made completely of Gold...
The Golden Apple gently floated down to my desk and softly landed on it.
Having no idea what to do with the apple, I just stared at it.
...
Meanwhile, in the Office.
[1 Player has played for an hour, +15 Points]
Oh? I can get more points this way?
Since I had enough points to buy another human NPC, which I did so.
[Karir (Nord)(M)]
Oh? A Nord from the Elderscrolls counts as a human?
Good to know.
I then assigned him to the game without any backstory, just leaving him like a blank slate that could mold itself for its particular environments like what I have done for most of the other NPCs besides a few of the NPCs like the Apoc-Human and the Mandolorian which had their own random story related to their type.
I could even look into their system-made stories.
But I'll save that for later, for now, I am going to go back to reading through the Grimoire which greatly fascinated me.
Something that I was quite thankful about with my new life here in this world, was the fact that it was much easier to learn and comprehend things when compared to my old life.
For example, I was picking up the languages in this section quite fast.
Soon enough hours passed and I had gained enough understanding to fluently speak the Angelic Language.
After reading through it I found that the next language was Demonic.
But, instead of just continuing to learn more of these languages cataloged within the Grimoire, I instead went back to the Table of Contents and read through it before flipping to the page that went over Magic and its workings.
[A/N: Note that the Grimoire goes over both YGGDRASIL and the New World]

[A/N: The Following has been collected from the Overlord Wiki]
Magic.
Magic can be categorized into a few different types.
Wild Magic, Tier Magic, Runecraft, Ritual Magic, Martial Art, and Talents.
Wild Magic is the ancient and primal magic of the New World long before the introduction of the more modern Magic, Tier Magic.
Wild Magic, or otherwise called 'Soul Magic' or the 'Magic of the Dragons' uses souls instead of the Mana that modern magic uses.
Although the cost of spellcasting via Wild Magic is grisly, the results speak for themselves. The more beings or souls offered up as living sacrifices, the stronger the magic when released. However, using Wild Magic can also end up destroying the link to the user's own soul, as well as making the casting of stronger magic a risky gamble in and of itself.
On the other hand, the modern magic, Tier Magic which was popularized by the players both in YGGDRASIL and the New World, was based entirely on the use of Mana and a tier system going from Tier-0 to Tier-11, otherwise known as The Magic of the Gods or Super-Tier Magic.
In contrast to Wild Magic and Runecraft, which are limited to certain races, Tier Magic is more compatible and more widely available for many types of users to practice. With its own controversy, Tier Magic was said to be the magical art that had supposedly caused a decline in usage of these traditional magics from other races.
Regardless, Tier Magic can still be used by Dragons and Dwarves over their ancestral magic respectively.
Another type of Magic would be the Dwarves' famous Runecraft.
Runecraft is the art of inscribing magical letters onto objects. When a rune is carefully engraved on an object, it enchants the object.
The amount of magic inscribed in an object depends on the time it takes to inscribe a rune. In other words, runes are characters magically imbued with mana.
Meanwhile, attempting to carve runes and enchant an object with both Runecraft and Tier Magic together can also be mutually repulsive. If a powerful magic caster tries an enchantment, the runes will distort.
The fourth kind of Magic would be Ritual Magic.
Tier Magic is the main magical craft that flourishes the New World. Despite years of study and research, the inhabitants of the New World barely comprehend its power.
Whereas the Players, who originally brought its power, could easily cast spells of the 6th tier and above, the average magical standard in the New World is at 2nd or 3rd tier. For that reason, rituals are used as a means to bypass those limitations.
In addition to that, they enable magic casters working in unity to achieve levels of magical phenomena that can't be normally acquired in living time. Magic casters in the New World perform rituals to gain further access in using spells that are said to be impossible to achieve under normal conditions.
For instance, there was one country like the Slane Theocracy in particular that conducted a large-scale ritual to use magic spells of the 6th Tier, 7th Tier and possibly beyond which is the 8th Tier.
The next type of Magic to come would be Martial Arts.
Martial Arts are fighting skills used by warriors that hail from the New World. They are considered as one of the powers alongside Talents, Wild Magic, and Runecraft that did not exist in YGGDRASIL.
Martial Arts is made up of techniques that did not exist in YGGDRASIL. Similar powers in YGGDRASIL were called "skills" and they are acquired mainly by players with warrior classes.
When using a particular martial art technique, the effects can boost a warrior's physical abilities, sharpen the person's mind, and so on.
Whereas magic casters are practitioners of Tier Magic, Martial Arts are considered to be the magic of the warrior classes in which melee combatants excel.
The final type of Magic is Talent.
Talent is a kind of innate ability that 1 in 200 people in the New World can get.
A talent is an innate ability among abilities that a person is born within the New World. While people possessed different talents, it is not something limit to one user when they can be born with the same ability.
Also, the talent's capability can vary greatly in potency and type. However, talent is by no means related to a normal talent whatsoever. In which cases, one with the talent of strengthening magic power might have no gift in magic itself.
In this case, talent is completely useless for those, who are not Magic Casters, but regular people.
In other words, this means that talents sometimes do not match the natures of the holders. For example, if someone is born with the talent to boost the destructive power of spells but doesn't have the inclination, ability, or physical strength necessary to become a magic caster, then they can't make good use of it.
As such, most people do not really think of talent as an important ability. Though it would be considered a lucky chance if one had the right talent that could be matched or serve a purpose with one's job.
