章 245: Second Chances

Esme sat on the black leather couch before a hearth, the fire warming her chilled skin. Gabriel placed an Aztec print blanket over her shoulders as she tightly held a cup of hot chocolate in her hands. Esme felt so sick to her stomach that it was hard to breathe. Gabriel started rubbing her back and speaking to her soothingly in Latin, she did not pay attention to the words, but she loved him all for it. 

Behind her, Alpha Caden had revealed his story, their story that had never finished. It was like someone had kicked her in the stomach with this overwhelming news. Esme slowly turned and looked at Caden's weathered yet handsome looks. She didn't want to believe him, she didn't, but Gabriel confirmed the truth behind his words. The look on Caden's face spoke volumes about the life he had lived so far.
