"Use your words," Zayne encouraged Rose. "Now is not a time to be silent."

"You may," Rose answered. 

"Relax. I will not harm you," Zayne promised, his hand slipping from her back to the hem of her dress.

She had been so careless to stand before him in a night dress all this time. Had she thought it wasn't any different from other dresses? 

How could she when it hid less of her body?

He'd do anything to repeat the sight of Rose waiting for him, greeting him with a smile and welcoming him home. He would share the soldiers' eagerness to go home if Rose was awaiting him.
