章 191: Chapter 190

A/N: I called their place a pharmaceutical building… It's a school… they're in school.

[Third Person's PoV]

"MINORU, YOU BASTARD!" Saejima roared, his voice shaking with fury as a surge of mana exploded from his body, fueled by his intense emotions.

He charged at Cid with murderous intent, but Zeta was quick to react, preparing to intercept and kill Saejima first. Before she could move, Cid gently placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her. As Saejima approached, Cid smirked, raised his hand, and flicked Saejima on the forehead with a casual, almost playful motion.

Saejima was blasted backward by the sheer force of the flick, his mana dissipating as he lost consciousness. He skidded to a stop on the floor, his eyes rolling to the back of his head, foam spilling from his mouth. A bright red mark remained on his forehead where Cid had hit him.

"Well, that was a fun trip down memory lane," Cid said with a reminiscent smile.

Zeta silently observed him, her gaze lingering. After a moment, Cid noticed and chuckled. "What? Disappointed with what you heard?"

Zeta shook her head. "I'm sure you had your reasons for what you did. I'm not here to judge. I'm here to serve. Everything you do is justified—simply because it's you."

Cid groaned, his shoulders slumping as he looked up in exasperation. "You really need to stop saying stuff like that."

Zeta frowned, confused. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No, not exactly. It's just… it feels like I have to keep repeating myself," Cid sighed. He stepped closer, cupping her cheeks in his hands. "It's not that I don't appreciate your loyalty and devotion—because trust me, I do—but you're more than just someone who serves me. You're my wife. It's perfectly okay to be a little disappointed in who I used to be. Hell, even I know I was a little shit back then."

As Cid squished her cheeks playfully, Zeta pouted, her words muffled. "I'm sorry, but you can do no wrong in my eyes. I'd never be disappointed."

Cid just stared at her with her cheeks still squished, shaking his head with a smile. "You're adorable, you know that?" he said before giving her a quick peck on the lips.

"Now, come on, let's go bother Akane," Cid said, turning away and marching ahead.

Zeta, still blushing, smiled and happily followed him, stepping over Saejima's unconscious body without a second thought.

When they found Akane, she was busy carrying boxes, preparing for the upcoming attack on the camp. The moment Akane saw Cid, her face flushed, and she speed-walked in the opposite direction.

"I wonder what's her deal?" Cid mused.

"Seriously, Master?" Zeta deadpanned.

"Nah, but it's funny to watch," Cid grinned. "I'm gonna go bother her."

Without hesitation, Cid began following Akane. When she looked back and saw him tailing her, she quickened her pace. Cid mirrored her, picking up speed. Realizing what was happening, Akane tossed the boxes aside and broke into a sprint. Cid, laughing, sprinted after her.

"WHY ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME!?" Akane shouted, her face bright red.

"WHY ARE YOU RUNNING AWAY!?" Cid retorted, laughing.

"CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM YOU!?"

"I know! That's why this is so much fun!" Cid's laughter echoed through the halls.

They ran past confused survivors, who stared at the strange scene unfolding before them. Eventually, Akane found herself trapped at a dead end. She clicked her tongue in frustration, turning to face Cid, her back against the wall, her face flushed with embarrassment and annoyance.

"What do you want from me?" she demanded, glaring at him.

"Nothing," Cid said with a proud nod. "I just find this situation incredibly amusing."

Akane scowled, biting her lip in contemplation before suddenly walking toward Cid and grabbing his hands. "Come with me. I need to check something."

Cid blinked in surprise. "Wha—? Isn't this a little forward?"

"Stop talking," Akane snapped.

"Yes, ma'am," Cid replied, raising his hands in mock surrender.

She led him through the halls, checking classroom numbers until she found the one she was looking for. Cid looked around, eyebrows raised.

"Okay, I feel like I need to say something. You're taking me to an empty classroom, just the two of us? At least take me out on a date first. You're being too forward, Akane."

Akane blushed furiously. "Get your mind out of the gutter! This isn't for whatever perverted thing you're thinking."

"I wasn't the one standing outside my door earlier, listening so intently," Cid said, smirking.

Akane froze, her face drained of color before turning a deep shade of crimson. She crouched down, covering her face with her hands.

"AAAAHHHHH!" she screamed into her hands, her face redder than her eyes.

Slowly, she peeked up at Cid, finding him grinning down at her in amusement.

"You knew!? Oh my god, I'm so embarrassed!"

"You didn't even bother to hide your mana presence. You might as well have shouted, 'I AM HERE!' It would've had the same effect," Cid said with a straight face.

Akane groaned, her face buried in her hands as she mentally cursed her life choices.

"Anyway, what are we doing here?" Cid asked, moving things along as he glanced around the empty classroom.

Akane fanned her cheeks as she stood up. "There's something I want to see..."

"If that's what you want, who am I to judge?" Cid sighed.

Akane shot him a confused look, but her eyes widened in shock as she noticed him starting to pull down his pants. She quickly spun around, shrieking, "What are you doing, you pervert?!"

"Didn't you say you wanted to see something? I was even willing to sacrifice my body for your scientific research," Cid replied with a straight face.

"I hate you so much right now," Akane glared, her face flushed bright red.

"You know damn well that's not what I meant!" she spat through gritted teeth.

"Okay, then what?" Cid asked, raising an eyebrow.

Akane sighed and began rummaging through the classroom closet. "Where is it...? I know I left it here somewhere..."

"Aha! Here we go," she said triumphantly, pulling out a men's school uniform identical to the one she was wearing.

"Here, put this on," she handed it to him.

"Alright, if you insist..." Cid shrugged and immediately started taking off his shirt without hesitation, causing Akane to cover her face with her hands.

"Do you have *no* shame?" she squeaked out.

"I could ask you the same thing," Cid smirked. "I can literally see you peeking through your fingers."

Akane gulped and turned her back to him in a fluster. "Just hurry up and change."

With a sigh, Cid noticed she wasn't looking and tossed his uniform into the shadows, using his slime control to quickly change into the new uniform.

"Done," he said.

"I'm not falling for your trick to make me turn around and see you naked!" Akane retorted, still facing away.

"...What? I learned to change fast. It's a skill you pick up when you're constantly on the run from monsters."

"Oh..." Akane muttered, feeling a bit embarrassed. She slowly turned around, but the moment she saw Cid in the uniform, she froze.

Her eyes blinked rapidly, and before she could stop herself, tears began to well up and fall down her cheeks, leaving Cid taken aback by her reaction.

Suddenly, Akane rushed forward and hugged him tightly. "It's you... It's really you, Minoru," she whispered as she continued to cry.

"What—"

"Drop the act. I know it's you. The uniform was the last confirmation I needed... You're alive, Minoru Kageno," she said through her tears.

Cid was momentarily stunned by the tightness of her embrace, but then he smiled softly. "Well, shit..." he muttered, hugging her back as she sobbed into his chest.
