章 23: Road journey
The protagonist team was in a carriage, led by 2 wolf type-mounts, Max stared at the scenery as the carriage moved.
"What you looking at?" said Enora to Max.
"Nothing, really," said Max. "How did you join the team? Also, does this team have a name?"
"We don't, and I joined after Eric saved me from rogue martial artists!" said Enora, remembering the day of the incident. She then thought of something and asked, "How do you get your weapons? I've never seen those before."
"Oh those, haha…. I made them!" said Max to Enora as she widened her eyes at the news. "You made those? That's so cool! Do you have more stuff?"
"Well, I do. Let me bring some of them out," said Max, browsing through his inventory and picking out a gun-shaped object. "So, I just made this, it is powered by qi!"
"Is it like the one, you used against the dragon?" said Enora, In curiosity.
"Those are outdated versions, this is more "newer" than the rest at the back!" said Max, but as they were talking, he noticed something on the road. "Wait, can you guys stop in a bit."
The group was confused, but stopped nonetheless. Max opened the carriage and flew in that direction. The squad followed him. Max crossed multiple trees dodging branches as he became faster.
"Where is he rushing to?" said Garrett.
"We have no idea!" The three said.
After some mins, Max stopped at the top of a hill, below him was a ruined village. That had remnants of undead qi. The group caught up and saw the ruins. They were disgusted at the sight.
"Those damn beasts!" said Garret in rage, moving forward with his gravity manipulation, pushing himself toward the village.
"Hey, wait up," said Krista, growing a tree under her legs, to carry her forward while the rest of the squad jumped on it.
They soon arrived, and what they saw shocked everyone on the scene, except Max. "So many bodies!" said Krista, watching as bodies of both humans and undead, floated above the river of blood.
"So, do we like! Leave or find out who did this?" said Krista, asking the team.
"If we try to find out what happened, we would be helping the undead because, by this scene, I am positive that the undead killed the entire village, and someone killed the undead in return," said Max as he analyzed the details with his perceptual abilities. "Anyways, we can't help these people either way."
"So, we just leave them?" said Enora, unsure of this decision.
"Max is right, we can't waste any more time, let's leave," said Krista, walking out of the village while the rest of the squad followed her, and Enora still looked unsure if it was the right choice.
No one noticed as Max dropped something on the ground as they left.
They went back into the carriage and set off. They soon reached a town and got off at the gates. Dropping their ride off at the stables.
"Yea, we are finally here!" screamed Enora as the group laughed at her antics.
They then set off to an inn as they watched the scenery of the town.
"Get your daily dose of news right here, folks"
"Giant sky farrow mount, buy now for just 1GP or 120Cp"
"Omg, General Rex is so hot!
"Mysterious stone found in Rento dungeons, free of charge, but for a request, aye!"
"We need to leave they're coming, the dead"
The group walked through this bustling crowd while looking at all the offers.
"The mysterious stone my ass, that's just a normal ore that has been stained by undead qi!" said Max in complaint.
"Kid, how do you even know that?" said Garrett. "Are you some kind of super genius, or something?
"I mean not to brag, but yes I am a genius!" said Max, Garrett was disappointed at the boy's lack of humbleness
"You do know there are people in this world that could be more talented than you right?" said Garrett in a teaching mode.
"Yes, they are! But they won't be for long after I surpass them!" said Max as he walked in front.
"Well, we will see about that in the future now will we," said Garrett in mockery as they strolled through the city.
On another side of the city, a man with a huge hat walked into a Library, in a red jacket. Entering in, he went to a bookshelf and picked up a book titled
<The legend of Vlad the impaler>.
"Hello Vlad." said a man with a fancy suit and glasses.
"How did you know it was me? Hyde!" said Vlad, dropping the book back on the shelves.
"I can feel your temperament from a Mile away!" said the man named Hyde. "I see you just woke up, and you continued killing them?"
"Oh, you know me so well, Hyde!" said Vlad with a pause. "Yes, am still wiping off, vermin!"
The both of them were silent for a while before Hyde spoke
"I see, but before you slept, I never still got why you still called me Hyde?" asked Jekyll.
"Once a monster, always a monster," said Vlad as he stood up and left, and on his way said one last thing. "You can be a monster, but if you act like a monster, I will restart the chase, we once had! Jekyll."
Dracula then turned into a swarm of bats as he left the library from the windows.
Jekyll's face morphed soon after Vlad left, but he pulled out a syringe and stabbed it into his arms. "My peaceful days might soon come to an end."
While all this happened, on the battlefield between undead and living. The two leaders of both camps stared down at each other.
"I have heard of your reputation, but your strength far exceeds it! You are qualified to make me lead this battle. We will fight to the death, but not now! For now, just stay where you are," said Judas as he walked back.
"This war is not something, you can start when you want, and stop when you want! We will end this here!!" said Rex as he walked forward, only for a giant barrier to raise from the ground, stopping his descent.
"Soon, warrior, soon," said Judas as he and his army disappeared.
