章 21: Chapter 21 – Whispered Fear

As Luna's green eyes widened, the magnitude of the power before her surpassed her wildest expectations. She fixated on the black dots nestled between his eyes, captivated as it spun with an insatiable hunger, devouring the serene blue sky until only a void, devoid of stars, remained. Suddenly, the dots burst forth, birthing a celestial spectacle within his piercing pupils—a myriad of lights, reminiscent of countless stars adorning the night sky.

From his eyes, the cosmic void and shimmering stars cascaded like a gentle breeze, permeating the space behind him. Reality itself seemed to yield, bending to the command of his extraordinary essence. The very fabric of existence underwent a profound transformation, guided by the interplay of darkness and stardust within the depths of cosmic energy.

Emerging from this vortex, delicate strands of ethereal light gracefully wove and intertwined around Aurelius's form. They crafted a celestial lattice, a breathtaking tapestry that exuded an ethereal radiance beyond mortal imagination. His regal attire flowed with an otherworldly luminescence, its hues shifting and blending like the interstellar clouds of distant galaxies.

His robe, a testament to celestial splendour, flowed in pristine white, akin to a cascading waterfall of stardust. The strands of his snow-white hair took on an even more resplendent quality, each one shimmering with a silvery luminescence reminiscent of moonlight gracing fresh layers of pristine snow. With a sidelong glance, his gaze locked with Luna's, his ethereal countenance phasing through the surrounding roots. In that moment, he spoke, his voice carrying a profound presence, "Though I may appear weakened, I am still... Aurum."

'Oh, this kid…If he keeps doing things like these…I might just fall for him—'

Luna blanked out for a moment, seeing the cosmic clothes disappear from his body, and the stunned look on his face. He nonchalantly scratched his head, "Oh, it seems I can't maintain it for more than a second in my current state."

Luna clenched her fist, cautious of the beast who was staring at them. She gritted her teeth, "Then don't use that second to spout nonsense! Rather, you should have dealt with the Vaelith!!"

"Haha, don't worry. I can still maintain my eyes. I already took care of it," Aurum pointed towards the beast, that Luna ran her eyes over. She did a double take, narrowing her eyes, seeing the creature that wasn't moving.

"What did you do to it?"

"Put it under my control," Aurum stepped closer to the magnificent creature, placing his palm on its head. He peered into its eyes, causing the creatures pupil to change from amber to an amber nebula like his own with a reddish rift that looked like the beast's pupil, "Go."

The beast rubbed its head against Aurum's palm before the Vaelith turned its eyes towards the students. It took a step forward, disappearing in the shadows and coming out of the shadow of Luis, who was standing towards the forefront.

"No, wait!" Luna reacted with incredible speed, causing her roots to lunge forward but Vaelith moved from one shadow to the next, stopping right in front of Eve, hiding itself between the students and Eve who was protecting them from the rear. Its amber eyes stared at Luna as it let out a shadowy breath, causing the stunned students to fall on their knees and cry out again, "No!! The whispers!!! I don't want to die!"

"Stop! Someone Stop!! Stop these noises!!!!"

Eve held her head, hearing the screams of her students. She could hear the whispers crawling inside her skin, her knees buckled as she held her head, 'big brother…'

She was hoping for some help from either Aurum or Luna, only to find the sight of Aurum grabbing on Luna's wrist, stopping her from acting and helping them, 'why…?'

"Do you understand strength?"

Eve covered her face, hearing Aurum's voice which overpowered the fear that the whispers seemed to be inflicting on them, "strength is stand in front of your enemy without fear is strength. Strength to be able to fight against them is strength. Strength to dodge or take their attacks and live is strength. The Vaelith's whisper causes all your fears to come out and overpower you. To challenge the beast, you must overcome your own fears. The question is…do you have the strength to do that?"

"If you can't take it, then run out of these roots and that would be that. But those who manage to stay until the very end they will be rewarded. I, alongside Assistant Professor Eve will help you with your sexual training," Aurum smiled at them, glancing towards the girl with deep purple eyes and black jagged hair. He noticed her staring at Vaelith with utmost desire from the moment it appeared, 'I wonder…Nyx…from Shadow Warriors Tribe…was it?'

"And even fulfil your wish. If I can."

The girl turned her head in hunger, gazing at him, somehow able to ignore the whispers of Vaelith, 'Yes, that hunger. If you need strength, then that hunger is necessary!'

A sadistic smile appeared on his lips, though his eyes flashed with worry when he looked towards Eve, who was barely resisting that fear, 'then Eve…do you have that hunger?'

"Using Vaelith for training," Luna stepped away from him, looking at him with fear and worry, "No wonder they call you White Demon."

"No, you don't understand," Aurum rolled his eyes at her overdramatic portrayal of her disapproval. If she truly thought he was going too far, then she would have stopped him. He even made Vaelith suppress his whispers and in turn the fear they felt was nothing like what they felt at first.

"Listen here, in my travels I have seen different kind of powers. Seven different types," Aurum said, making Luna step near him as she looked at him with curious eyes.

"Seven?" (Luna)

"Yes," Aurum nodded, 'though, this knowledge is from the Age of Gods. They might have lost that knowledge but that doesn't mean that humans have changed. It must be the same as before. It doesn't matter what I say…they shouldn't realise as long as I don't use the terms.'

"Physical Strength Type, they have more physical strength than their peers, and agility that goes with it. Though they lack the thick skin to defend against the attack, and most times lack good control over energies. Or lack energy all together."

"Oh, yes, yes, I know them," Luna nodded again and again, "that sounds like Head Professor of Section A."

"Then there is the speedy type, who possess incredible speeds, they are able to move in ways that others lack, they are tricky but they tend to have less physical strength."

"Oh, totally like Head Professor of Section D!"

"Those with Heightened Emotions, able to peer through others. Those who are intelligence, more than their peers, their minds work differently. Those with control over energy like Eve, they are able to see energy like it is their birthright and control. And then there are those whose will power is able to bend everything to their will, and they are able to do things which are thought to be impossible for others," Aurum looked towards his students, "this is the first test. I am testing their will. One I know the willpower type. I am going to search for Speed Type, then Power Type, Endurance Type, Sensory Type, and so on. Once I know everything about their natural talent, then I can decide what kind of Totem they should have."

"According to my Hypothesis, the reason why some have high potential while other have zero potential is because the Totem, they chose either supports them immensely or is counter-productive. As long as I am able to understand their inborn nature and make sure that the Totem, they choose is not counterproductive," Aurum couldn't help but smile at Luna, who was barely comprehending what he was saying, "they will be twice as strong as the other students from different section. And it won't be luck that decided if they have Potential or not. I will make sure they gain that Potential."

"Woah," Luna covered her lips, looking at him with amazement, "that's…now I want to put all the students of the school under you. I feel bad for them …some of them might end up not having any potential if it is like you said."

"You are too kind," Aurum patted her head, seeing genuine sadness in her eyes for not being able to share this knowledge with those of the other section right away.

Luna hurriedly slapped his hand away, puffing her cheek, "I am older than you, and your superior! Don't pat my head out of nowhere."

"Shut up," Aurum pulled her cheek, while his eyes turned towards Eve, who was watching them with anger in her eyes more than she had fear, 'is she angry that I am not paying enough attention to her. She's going to beat me up, isn't she?'

He watched the fear oozing out of their bodies and choose to devour it, 'it is not as tasty as the lust…but it should provide me with a few levels. Hm…this one feel different…'

"No!!! Nooooooooo!! Stopp it already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Luna, much like Aurum noticed the strangeness from one of the students. He stood up while shouting, holding his head, "that's…"

"Kael of the Rex Hunter," Aurum narrowed his demonic eyes, filled with galaxies, nebulae and stardust when he noticed the flash appear on Kael's body. It was only for an instant, but something appeared there. And then with Kael's next shout it appeared again, red lines that weren't visible before, "that is…"

"A Totem!" Luna blurted out in surprise. She focused her eyes on the boy, who screamed again and bent forward, along with those visible totem lines. The moment he did, they could see the shape of the beast, the full picture, "A T-Rex! Aurum! There is no way that child hunted a Rex by himself! Rex Beasts are dangerous! Their spirit is overwhelming! To put one in a child! He is going to go crazy and kill himself!"

"I said!!! STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Kael shouted again, his muscles buffed up, those Totem lines stopped fluctuating and his voice became hoarser. He stopped moving, stop screaming, stopped shouting.

"Luna, remove the roots in front of him. Give him a way to come out." (Aurum)

"Only if you promise to ask me with more respect next time," Luna lowered her palm, and the roots shifted, singling Kael out, bringing him out of the protective confines while keeping others in.

"You!" The boy raised his head, his hair became redder, his pupil covered his whole eye, becoming sickly yellow. T-Rex's eyes, "what the hell do you think you are doing! How dare you torture me! I am going to pummel you!"

'Split personality? Or breakage because of the Totem? Did they form…doesn't matter,' Aurum watched him with intrigued eyes, "You can. Or you can go back inside and take the test until the end. Are you just a momentary anger? Or are you Kael? Real Kael?"

"What does that have to do with anything!" Kael pushed his foot against the ground, causing the ground beneath him to break apart and he pushed his fist forward to punch Aurum when roots appeared from the ground, circling around his body, trapping his hands, legs and waist.

"It has to do with everything. It's about how long you can stay out. If you are only anger, then you will fight until you tire yourself out. If you have feelings and desires, then you will go back inside and prove your power and will. After all, if you do manage to stay until the end. I will make sure you can come out for your reward," Aurum gestured towards Eve at the end of the ground, she was covered in sweat, panting and haggard, yet, her charm was oozing, trying to combat the fear, "tell me…are you real or not?"

"WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE YOU! LET ME GO!! LET ME GOOOOOOO!"

Aurum glanced towards Luna, "Luna, remove them."

"Are you sure…he's berserk," while she said that, she did remove the roots that bound Kael, who didn't take a second, annoyed by the screams and shouts he punched forward. Though the moment his punch was about to connect with Aurum's cheek, a sharp ringing sound resounded in his ear. His body came to a halt, unable to move.

"What did you do?"

Aurum raised his palm, looking down at the boy, his fingers stopped an inch away from his face, "choose now. Go back in the ring or disappear."

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Fine!" Kael stepped back, glaring at him, walking towards the ring. His body was trembling, his steps were wobbly desire, his anger overpowering his fear, but he stepped inside the roots, and stepped into fear itself.

"You chose them well," Aurum glanced towards Luna, who let out a troubled smile.

"I heard he was having problems…I didn't think the problem was so big," Luna apologetically smiled at Aurum, "To think you'd be able to bring him under control."

"It wasn't me…" Aurum keenly narrowed his eyes, "each and every one of them are good seeds. Seeds for your Rebellion. I'll water them for you a little."

"Aw, now I can't wait for that day to come!" Luna grinned, hugging his arm, pressing her boobs all over him, "say, they are busy right now…do you want to—"

"No."

"At lease let me finish before rejecting me!" (Luna)

"Ok, ask again." (Aurum)

"Mouu! Not cute at all!"
