章 15: The Test
"Well, to keep things short. I heard of Loki's relationship with you almost right after you two first spoke to my father. I initially wanted to come back right away in order to challenge you to battle. However, Loki getting courted by you, had some unintentional consequences. My mother pushed hard for me to court someone as well since she expected me to have someone before Loki, and I never expected that my sister would ever find someone anytime soon, if at all."
"Hey! I resent that statement!" Loki decided to cut in before Thor pushed passed it and continued.
"Beside that point, upon receiving regular messages from my mother about the situation and how I should also court someone, I spent a good amount of time going on an adventure across the nine realms. Mostly to put it at the back of my mind. This didn't stop someone beside me from changing that entirely though." It was at that moment that the fourth person at the table had taken on a large blush across their face. Her face was so red that she could cosplay as a cherry.
"Freyja and I had a tryst one night, surprisingly with no alcohol involved. That alone told me how serious she was and has been for a longtime. Therefore, I guess you could say that your relationship blooming, unintentionally started mine with Freyja." To say that my brain paused was an understatement. And if I wasn't holding Loki, she would have fallen out of the seat. The battle-crazed, wall hammering, thunder god, has been shacked up by one of his longest ongoing companions. Would you look at that.
"I think that Loki and I need time to process what you just dropped on the table. Loki more than me since she stopped responding a bit ago." I poked her face just to be sure, but she stopped responding. I think her brain was going through a hard reset. That caused Thor to let out a boisterous laugh that was heard throughout the place, and even Freyja was giggling.
"Of course, we can schedule a proper time to duel each other in the future, thank you for your time, and enjoy the rest of your day!" He and Freyja stood up and walked out of the place. I decided that it would be a good time to just teleport back to our room. So I paid our tab, and teleported back with Loki. She started staying in the room after a month of me staying in Asgard.
Present Day
Thor and I still haven't dueled, but that was more on his part than mine. Freyja and Loki had a girls night out after that day since they were apparently very good friends. That day caused Freyja to drag Thor out on many dates, and caused the man to pay more attention to her as a lover, rather than a close companion. We scheduled a time, but it wouldn't be for another year most likely since Odin and Frigga want him to focus on his new relationship, and learning more on leadership.
To Thor's credit, he actually took it more seriously. Good for the guy, I was expecting the dude to only have fighting and drinking on the mind. Turns out that Freyja managed to break through that wall and got him to want to improve. Now though was the time that Loki has been fearing the most. It was time to go back home and visit Mom with Loki. She was nervously holding my arm, while Odin and Frigga came to see us off.
"We will be fine Loki. My mother would have done something by now if she wanted to harm you." That didn't seem to ease her though, and she just held my arm tighter.
"I would just let things take its course my boy. It's ok to support Loki as you are now, but I don't think any words can prepare her for your Mother." Odin made sense. She has been dreading this day and we put it off for as long as we could. Even I was nervous. I had no idea what Mother had planned.
"I do wish you the best of luck on your visit. I would love to speak with the Golem goddess as well, but this visit is about you two, so it will have to wait until another time." Frigga pulled Loki into a hug, before sending us off. I ripped the bandage, and just teleported us to my room back at home.
Mark
All things considered, I didn't have much planned for the two lovebirds. Jane and Jess however, wanted to thoroughly interrogate the two. So I would start the conversation, but let the two of them run the rest. I was really happy that I had those two, they did really well with guiding the kids where I couldn't.
I wasn't the best when it came to parenting. Heck, I wasn't one in my first life, so this was completely new to me. At least I didn't have to raise them as babies. The three of us headed to the public office within our home. The home itself was upgraded like crazy to the point that It might as well be a base. I thought of a good way to mess with the couple. I shifted to my male form, changed into a gray jacket, with a black dress shirt, and gray dress pants.
As Jess, Jane, and I walked over to the office, various golems passed by, quickly making way for us out of fear. From what I understand, my male form tended to slip out when I felt rage. I felt fine in this form when I manually shifted though. Jess and Jane weren't affected since this was the form I originally took when I made them. I'll have to get my golems more used to this form so they don't tremble when they see me like this.
Regardless of how my golems think of my current form, this is the best way to troll Retzio and Loki. Especially Loki. The three of us waited for around a half hour before the two decided to grace us with their presence. I was snacking on some chips, while Jane was reading a book, and Jess was designing weapons.
Loki
I felt more fear today than I have in my entire lifetime. I have experienced wars, fought against multiple types of monsters across the nine realms, and disobeyed my own father. Yet, nothing could prepare me for this moment. Of all the deities apart of the vast universe we are apart of, why did the parent of my lover have to be the Golem King?
The reason why I am saying King instead of Goddess? Well that would have to do with what is currently causing me a mental breakdown. Across the large table in the office that Retizo and I entered, I noticed his two Mothers in all but blood, and his Father. What many who know of the Golem King don't realize, is that it isn't just a shift of appearance. They may as well be two different people.
Where the Goddess would be playful, addicted to knowledge and research, and extremely caring of her children. The King was Serious, radiated power, and easily enraged. They were closer to the embodiment of wrath than the sin itself. Them showing themselves here means that Retzio's mother decided to take a backseat and let his father take control of the conversation. I can only hope I pass the trials and tribulations ahead of me.
"Sit." Retzio and I quickly sat on the other side of the table, across from the trio. That one word may not have been loud, but the message was relayed clearly. As I sat down, they just stared at us. I started to sweat from the unbearable silence and pressure I felt as the Golem King let out a bit of their power. I held onto Retzio's hand for dear life as I pushed myself through this test.
Jane
I looked over to my son and his lover with a leveled gaze. Mark was pressuring the two quite a bit. Retzio was struggling, while Loki looked like she could pass out at any moment. I almost felt bad for the girl, but this was a test of her will. This was a test to see if she was worthy of Retzio, worthy to become his Achilles heel. This was also a test for Retzio to see if he truly loved the girl.
"I think that they have had enough Hun. The two of them are about to pass out." Mark clicked his tongue to put on a show in response to Jess when she told him that.
"Alright, then let's move onto the main reason why I wanted you two here." The two breathed a sigh of relief when the pressure on them let up. I started the interrogation.
Levi
Arty was a treat to have and be around. The frost bird turned out to be a phoenix and was female. Mom also figured out what was going on with Tammy. Turns out that she has the same, if not better potential than a lot of high tier sacred gears. Also, she is soulbound to me. She also has the ability to seek out legendary pokemon apparently? In a few of the volcanos that I fished at, Tammy felt a connection to them.
There were a few pokemon that had to do with volcanoes, Groudon and Moltres were two of them. Alongside my leadership classes I was taking, I studied up on Pokemon to learn all I could on it. Mom and Circi did a bit of research on pokeballs and pc's from the Pokemon universe, and managed to make a few prototypes. However, I wasn't allowed to go out and seek the legendary pokemon until they had a large amount of functional pokeballs. I was going to become a pokemon master.
Today, I didn't have a leadership class, or any other classes lined up with Miss Jess. Mom, Miss Jess, and Miss Jane, were interrogating Retzio and his lover Loki. It made me kinda jealous that all of my siblings are gathering lovers around them, and I'm out here riding solo. Circi doesn't count, she's a prude that would rather research magic, sacred gears, or growth weapons, than think of anything that moves romantically.
I'll just have to see where life leads me. Everyone else happened upon those around them through luck. Or perhaps Mom's blessing? Either way, I pray to Mom that she will guide me to multiple lovers that I could spread my love to.
Retzio
The test that Loki and I went through went by better than I expected. My initial expectations when I saw Father was that my current relationship was going to end, regardless of how hard I fought. That's just how scary Father was. If it weren't for Miss Jess and Jane, I had a reasonable suspicion that both Loki and I would have fainted from the initial confrontation. The questions they asked her were a lot easier to answer.
Questions like 'what are her plans with me?' Or 'did she really love me?' She answered that second one by kissing me in front of the three. Loki was very brave for doing so. Of course I reciprocated the kiss. Father wasn't amused if his dead expression wasn't a good giveaway. Miss Jane and Jess smirked at Loki's antics though. At least those two seemed to approve of this. That itself was half the battle. I also had Mother's approval, otherwise she wouldn't take a backseat. Father though…
"Prove to me your determination to make this relationship happen, Retzio. Prove to me that you are ready to have a fiance. Fight me." I was internally screaming to any form of the heavens that was listening. Father just asked me to fight a battle I was guaranteed to lose. I stood up and gave my best determined look however.
"Very well Father. If that's what it will take for you to approve of this, then I will give you my best in a duel." Father put on a savage grin, before he teleported us to one of the arenas in our home. One thing that many don't realize about Father, is that he loves to fight. Beyond the level of battle lust. If he was out and about all the time, it would cause chaos for our race, and any faction in existence.
Loki, Miss Jess and Jane, were sitting on a bench beyond the barrier of the Arena. I looked across from myself, towards Father. They decided to put on an assassin outfit similar to my own. It was silver in color though, unlike my gray. He also deemed it necessary to switch out my casual clothes, with my battle outfit. I took a deep breath. This would most likely be one of the hardest battles I will ever have.
