章 101: First Taste of Palace Intrigue

Wen Jieyu's execution left the Palace feeling colder than usual for the week. The servants didn't dare to speak loudly, whispering wherever they went.

The autumn air was turning colder by the day, but I was adamant in going out to familiarise myself with the greater Heavenly Palace.

Servants never had the chance to walk the entire Palace. As Crown Princess, however, I had the authority to do so.

Bringing along some of my retinue, I decided to head out two days after Wen Jieyu's execution. It would be good to take the quieter atmosphere of the Palace to learn more about it.

"Niang Niang, we can call for a palanquin!" Qin was protesting as I wrapped my scarf around my neck. I rolled my eyes, beckoning for Su to bring my boots over to the bed.

"I've been cooped up for over two weeks, Qin'er. Give me a break."

"But Niang Niang, you and His Highness were up all night last night -"
