"Make sure to open the iron cage when you leave," Cyrus instructed. With that, a transparent tendril emerged from his palm, piercing Kimiko's right shoulder and draining about a hundred milliliters of her blood—roughly a quarter of what a typical person would donate. After a few moments, Cyrus had what he needed.
Kimiko, feeling the pain, collapsed to the ground and screeched at Cyrus like a wounded animal.
Having obtained the sample, Cyrus said nothing more. He turned and left while Hughie and the others watched him go.
Once his figure was out of sight, the oppressive silence in the dungeon was broken by Hughie.
"We should find Compound V quickly. We can open the cage once we're done."
However, as Hughie spoke, Frenchie had already opened the iron cage.
The moment the cage door swung open, Kimiko lunged at Mother's Milk like a feral beast. Mother's Milk instinctively raised his arm to shield himself, but with a ripping sound, blood sprayed as Kimiko's claws left three deep gashes on his arm.
After the initial attack, Kimiko ignored Mother's Milk and scrambled toward a pile of scraps nearby.
Seeing Kimiko tearing apart the remains on the ground, Frenchie realized they had just released a monster.
Soon, Hughie noticed Kimiko's attention had shifted to them. The three quickly retreated into the cage, with Mother's Milk holding the door shut. After several failed attacks on the cage, Kimiko abandoned her assault and ran toward the exit.
With Kimiko gone, they finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"We didn't find Compound V, but we did release an unknown superhuman. Damn, that girl's claws were sharp," Mother's Milk gritted his teeth as he tore off the tattered cloth from his wounds and wrapped a clean piece of clothing around them.
"Luckily, the wounds aren't too deep. Rest for a while, and they should heal," Mother's Milk said after tending to his injuries. He then joined Frenchie and Hughie in searching Kimiko's room. Soon, Frenchie found a ticket from Florida to New York hidden under Kimiko's pillow, issued to someone named Merris.
Meanwhile, Mother's Milk discovered a syringe in a package with blue residue inside. He suspected it contained Compound V.
"I have to ask, was this place attacked by terrorists?" Billy arrived at the dungeon, surveying the carnage on the ground.
"Did that girl do all this?"
Hughie, stationed at the door, shook his head. "No, it was the guy who took out Translucent."
"How did he know about our operation?" Billy mused. The more he dealt with Cyrus, the more he felt shrouded in mystery, as if he could never fully understand him. "Forget it; it's pointless to dwell on it now."
Billy walked into the room, and Mother's Milk handed him the syringe with Compound V.
Billy examined the blue liquid and said, "Compound V? So, it was A-Train who delivered it here, and these people were supposed to inject it into Kimiko."
Mother's Milk, sitting on a chair while inspecting his wounds, added, "Yes, before they became piles of scraps."
"But why? Are they working for Vought, or is this a side job?" Hughie questioned.
"There's nothing here linking Vought to this human experimentation, so we can't accuse them yet," Frenchie explained.
"Let's leave. This place could be dangerous, and if the police arrive, we'll be in deep trouble no matter what we say."
With the package containing Compound V in hand, the group left the dungeon.
After they exited, Mother's Milk quickly found out through his contacts that the package came from "Samaritan's Embrace," an annual charity event organized by Vought to support superhumans.
In the room, Billy furrowed his brow and said, "The person responsible for the charity is named Izquierdo, a devout believer and a fool in rubber. This must be connected to him. But to understand the full situation, we need to find Kimiko before Vought and Homelander do."
"Good afternoon, Mr. Jarvis," Cyrus greeted as he approached his office.
"Good afternoon," Jarvis replied with a smile, shaking hands with Cyrus.
"I've been feeling a bit stressed lately, and my heart's been acting up. The doctor said it's just temporary, a result of not getting enough rest."
"You should definitely take care of yourself. But as the doctor said, it's only temporary and will soon pass," Cyrus said with a reassuring smile as he withdrew his hand.
"Thank you." Jarvis looked relieved and then turned to leave.
Back in his office, Cyrus sat down and placed the USB drive he had just obtained on the desk.
After checking it to ensure everything was in order, Cyrus pocketed the USB drive.
At the same time, Madeline received a call about a hijacked plane in midair. North American air defenses requested Vought's help to resolve the situation.
Madeline then contacted Maeve and Homelander.
"There's an intercontinental flight from Paris to Chicago that's been hijacked midair. North American air defenses have requested our assistance," Madeline said as she led them into the Seven's conference room, where a large screen displayed real-time monitoring of the flight route.
Madeline recognized this as an excellent opportunity and, with an excited tone, addressed Homelander, "You can't operate on foreign soil, but this is a plane hijacked over international waters. If you intercept it, no one will protest."
"If you can bring those passengers back safely, no congressman will dare vote against our bill."
If this incident is handled perfectly, Madeline was confident she could get Congress to pass the military bill she had drafted.
In fact, after Homelander left, she scheduled a meeting with Cyrus and Ashley, instructing them to prepare the public relations strategy to ensure the incident would be broadcast across the entire internet the moment it was resolved.
"Remember, focus all your efforts on this task. I won't tolerate any mistakes."
"Understood, I'll get on it right away," Ashley said, hurrying off.
"Do you have something to say?"
Madeline noticed Cyrus standing still and asked with a frown.
"I was thinking, should we consider a backup plan in case this fails? We…"
"He's Homelander. There's no possibility of failure," Madeline cut him off, clearly displeased. "Forget it. I'm assigning this to Ashley. You can take a break for now. I'll notify you if anything comes up."
