After the incident, Ru found himself in the hospital once again. This time, an old woman was by his side. As she claimed and documented, this old woman was Ru's aunt.
"Where did the red-haired woman with big boobs go?" he asked as soon as he came to his senses.
The old woman replied, "Look in your dreams, you'll find her."
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Ru snapped as he tried to sit up, but the old woman struck him on the head with her cane.
Her eyes narrowed with irritation. "Speak properly to your elders, you rude, disrespectful pervert!"
"This was supposed to be a drama, not a comedy," Ru protested, but his voice was weak. He hid under the covers, his face flushing with embarrassment.
Ru's legal guardian, Mrs. Chunhua, took her nephew out of the orphanage as her first order of business. She brought him to her own home.
A small café and the two-room apartment just above it became two important places in Ru's new life. As he unpacked his bags and settled into his room, he muttered, "At least there's a place that belongs to my family."
"I'm glad you like it, sweetie," said that alluring female voice.
Ru immediately turned around, his eyes widening. The red-haired, sexy woman was standing in the doorway.
"You..." Ru said, stepping towards her suspiciously, his brow furrowing.
"I..." the woman said, licking her lips.
"Who are you?" Ru asked, trying hard not to look at her breasts, his cheeks turning a deeper shade of red.
"I'm your aunt."
"No, my aunt is Chunhua," Ru said and sighed, frustration creasing his forehead.
He took his eyes off the woman for a moment. In that instant, the woman was replaced by the old woman again.
"Oh, come on!" Ru exclaimed, throwing his hands up in exasperation.
"Are you that stupid, child, or is it just me?" the old woman said, grinning.
"No, I'm just sleepwalking," Ru said, averting his gaze.
"Well, that's true," repeated the red-haired woman in that seductive voice.
Ru raised his hand in a halting gesture and said, "Okay. You're a witch and you have shape-shifting skills."
"Oh, so you're not that stupid after all. Congratulations, dear," said the old woman and clapped with her pinkies, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
"How much more are you going to insult me?" Ru asked, frowning deeply.
At that moment, the woman transformed into a cat right before Ru's eyes. And with a "meow," she leaped onto Ru's bed.
"I want that too, teach me," Ru said, his eyes wide with excitement.
The cat turned back into the red-haired woman on the bed. The woman crossed her legs and said, "Sorry, sweetie, you're not a witch."
"So what if I'm not a witch? I have magic powers too," Ru insisted, clenching his fists.
The woman indicated for Ru to sit on the bed and said, "Don't worry, kid. I'm here to train you."
"Really?" Ru asked, sitting down beside her eagerly.
"Of course."
"You won't sell me to a succubus then."
The woman burst into laughter. "Hahahah, I needed that laugh. Where did you get that idea?"
"A vampire told me. Though, he's gone to hell now, thanks to me," Ru said with a smirk.
"Oh, vampires, pooh! They're terrifyingly patriarchal. I could never like them," the woman said, rolling her eyes.
"What about wizards? Oh, that's wrong, he's just a sorcerer."
"Sexy."
"What?" Ru asked, his mouth dropping open in shock.
"Oh, sweetie. Are you going to ramble on like this? We only have two years left. I say we make the most of it," she said, tapping his nose playfully.
"Two years until what?"
"The apocalypse and the game. Speaking of the game..." the woman paused and turned to Ru, touching his cheek with her hand. "Will you help me join the game?"
"Can I even do that?"
"You can, sweetie. It's in the rules. Players can invite a friend to join the game."
"I will, but... What was your name again?"
"Anaxarete," said the woman, extending her hand towards Ru's chin.
Ru held her hand gently instead of kissing it. Because this woman was a witch, he had the feeling that he would be the victim of seduction.
"Don't worry, my dear. To me, you're just a child and you'll always be a child," she said with a soft smile.
"I'm not scared. Let's start with this magic training thing right away," Ru said, his eyes sparkling with determination.
"You have to work at the café for me first. You know, I changed planets and my financial situation is not great," Anaxarete said, raising an eyebrow.
"I'll do it, but I have a condition."
"I know, I'll teach you magic."
Ru looked at the hand he was holding in his palm and said, "No, I have another condition."
"What is it?" the woman asked curiously.
"You'll give me information. For example, let's talk about this Almighty Ru first. You must have been sent by him."
"Let's say that's what happened, dear. But in reality, a witch can't work for a man," she said, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"Then why are you here?" Ru asked, looking at the glorious long nails painted burgundy.
"Sweetie, I told you. I want to join the show. I want to play the game."
"Why?"
"I want to get married."
"What does that have to do with anything? Isn't this an apocalypse game?" Ru asked, tilting his head in confusion.
"The love of my life will be there, and it'll be the best show ever!"
"A witch's love of her life?" Ru asked, his voice soft and melodic as he gently stroked Anaxarete's hand.
"I can't fall in love just because I'm a witch? That's ridiculous!" Anaxarete said, her voice rising.
"Don't get mad. I just wanted to see how knowledgeable you are about the show, and it's clear you know a lot. This will work to my advantage. As long as you agree to partner with me..." Ru said.
"Our partnership has begun and will never end," Anaxarete said.
"I hope you don't betray me," Ru said, his eyes locking with hers.
"And you to me," Anaxarete replied, her voice firm and unwavering.
"Deal?"
"We deal."
"Then let's get started."
"Let go of my hand first," said the woman, smiling.
"Oh, sorry," said Ru, his cheeks turning red again.
"Get settled into your room and get some rest. Dinner is on me today, but this won't last long."
"Tell me what you wanted to say," Ru said, his eyebrows knitting together.
"As your magic teacher, I expect you to serve me, Ru. What's wrong with that, dear? Don't misunderstand, everything is mutual. You'll be staying in my home, after all," she said with a smirk.
"Let's say it depends on your teaching performance," Ru retorted, crossing his arms.
"I'll have to deal with demons because of you too. Oh, poor me," Anaxarete said, feigning sadness.
"Yes, demons. Why are demons attacking me? What do they want from me?" Ru asked, leaning forward.
"They want what they think you have, not you," she said, her tone serious.
"A djinn?"
"Oh, thanks for reminding me. There's another troublemaker," Anaxarete said, rolling her eyes.
"What do they want from me?"
"The heart of the devil king."
"Huh?" Ru's eyes widened in shock.
"But it's not with you. If it were, I would've ripped out your heart without waiting for you to die," she said, smirking.
"Then the djinn? Do I have the djinn's seal?"
"We'll look into that. Now, please let go of my hand."
"Still? Oh, sorry..." said Ru, quickly letting go of her hand.
"Remember, I am your Aunt Chunhua. Also, I'm truly a million years older than you. So, sweetie, don't mess with me. If you do, you'll regret it," Anaxarete said, her eyes flashing with a warning.
"Okay," Ru said, nodding vigorously.
"Smart child," Anaxarete said, ruffling Ru's hair carelessly. She then left the room.
With more information than he expected, Ru jumped onto his bed and bounced with joy.
"Yes!" he exclaimed, pumping his fist in the air.
