章 65: Week Long Camp
"Are you missing anything else?"
"Wait, let me check if I got my toothbrush."
Haruto was sitting on the coach looking inside of his duffle bag as Mahiru also looked inside of hers. It was an hour before midnight and the two of them were double checking their items for the week long trip training camp at Tokyo.
They had been informed to meet at the school at midnight as they wanted to travel overnight and reach the school early in the morning the next day.
"I think I got everything, the list you made really comes in handy for these types of situations."
"It's nothing too special though. Just something to help pack things faster so we don't waste time trying to think of what to get."
Mahiru smiled as she felt Haruto's hand gently brush through her silky hair and watched as he went into the kitchen to grab a piece of fruit to eat.
"What time do you think we should leave?"
"Hmm… we could go in about 20 minutes since we live close to the school. Also by the time we get there, it will be around midnight so we will be just on time."
Haruto thought about Mahiru's suggestion and agreed as he had thought of the same thing earlier. He bit into his apple and contemplated his plan for making his sleep on the bus as smooth as possible.
Relaxing a bit at his apartment Mahiru and Haruto made their way out while enjoying the cool wind that appeared during the quiet night.
With the moon brightly shining in the sky, Haruto and Mahiru carefully made their way to the school's parking lot where they saw a large bus and a few people already standing around.
"Ah it's Mahiru and Watanabe!"
Yachi's eyes brightened up seeing the two of them approaching and rushed towards Mahiru's side wanting to talk with her.
"Where's Kageyama?"
"He said he would come in about 5 minutes."
Haruto made his way towards Hinata who was brimming with excitement as this was the first time he would travel to a different school at the dead of night.
Haruto gave a wry smile as he listened to Hinata's rapid responses and waited for the rest of the team to arrive.
Waiting for a few minutes, people started to gradually arrive and eventually everyone on the team appeared, with Takeda filling everyone up to make their way onto the bus.
"The window seat is always the best one."
Haruto whispered as he sat down in the middle section of the bus. He looked out the window on his right side and adjusted the seat so he could get comfortable.
'Hopefully the ride there will be smooth and not be too bad.'
He thought in his head as he leaned back and prepared to sleep the majority of the trip there. Everyone eventually got seated and they had finally started their trip towards Tokyo for the week long camp.
With a bus full of students, it made its way through the streets during the night in hopes they would be able to arrive when the sun rises in the morning.

"Do you want a quick snack? I brought a lot of crackers with me."
"Yes please~"
Haruto heaved a quick yawn as he accepted the crackers Mahiru offered to give, while she gave the rest of the team the same offer.
They were walking towards a school located on a hill and saw Kuroo and a few other Nekoma members waiting near the bottom of the stairs.
"Wow~ I would have thought you would fuss over the steel towers just like last time."
"I think we would be able to tell the difference by now…"
"Oh really~"
Haruto had a small smile on his face as he gave a fist bump towards Kuroo who was smirking in his direction.
"That's the Tokyo Tower over there right?!"
"No, that's a normal steel tower."
Haruto and Kuroo heard Hinata's loud voice as Kenma tried to explain to him that it was the same normal tower he saw last time. Kuroo's mouth formed into a teasing grin and Haruto tried his best to avoid his gaze.
They followed Kuroo just like last time and he led them into the classrooms where they could place their bags and briefly showed them the outline of the school.
After getting settled in, they stood by one of the benches in the gymnasium and prepared themselves to play their first practice match of the day.
"Alright everyone this will be our first game of the day so shake off the stiffness from the bus ride and slowly show the results of your individual training."
Ukai said out loud and the members of Karasuno nodded their heads thinking back to the skills they decided to focus on.
"Keep in mind I will be mismatching a lot this time so be prepared to be subbed in and out."
With those last words the starting lineup from before made their way onto the court and got ready to play against their first opponent.
"Your lines are still not working for you?"
"Please don't remind me…"
Haruto tried to hide his smile after seeing Daiki's face and got into position to receive the ball after seeing Daiki's teammate bounce the ball near the service line.

Daiki's teammate threw the ball up and jumped in an attempt to do a float serve and Karasuno intently watched the ball cross over the net.
"I got it."
Nishinoya loudly said as he saw the ball have no rotation but didn't float as hard as he would have thought. Getting down low he straightened his arms to create a platform and passed a high ball for Kageyama to use.
'I want to see the new swing you made.'
Kageyama thought in his head as he gave the usual set Haruto always prefers. Watching the toss, Haruto quickstep backwards and did his running approach with shoulders loose as normal.
'I feel more bouncer for some reason.'
Haruto felt the power in his legs and foot as he jumped up to hit the ball. He unknowingly placed the same strength he would use when he jumped from one ledge to the other when bouldering.
'Shit! it's going to hit my wrist.'
Haruto realized his miscalculation and tried to adjust his swing so he could have at least a solid contact with the ball.
Controlling his balance in the air, he twisted his body slightly and swung the ball to hit a cross. The ball made its way through the gap of the blockers but landed outside the sidelines going out.
"Was the set off?"
"Not really but I want to make it a few notches higher compared to normal. Same speed but give it one ball higher compared to what I'm used to."
"Hmm, I could add a half a ball more so you could have more time to adjust."
"Perfect, let's do that."
Kageyama went up to Haruto and asked what happened since he noticed the slight mistake he made and they discussed on what happened.
"It's amazing how they could quickly adjust with each other…"
Daichi shook his head seeing the two of them discuss in detail on how they could match to each other's preferences
The game continued and Haruto started to get used to his movements that contained more power due to his daily training from bouldering and noticed he now had a higher contact point compared to before
"Nice receive."
Kageyama said as Haruto passed a top spin serve that came his way. Watching the ball go to Kageyama, Hinata who was now at the front ran up to do their usual minus tempo.
"Let it drop, let it drop, let it drop…."
Kageyama muttered under his breath as he placed his full focus on the set he would give Hinata.
The ball rapidly made its way to Hinata's apex but as Hinata watched the ball, it slowly stopped for a quick second and eventually dropped short about to lead into a missed set.
Hinata who was calmly watching in the air, stretched out his right arm and quickly tapped the ball over, letting it hit the net and slowly drop onto his opponent's side.
After getting the point, the both of them stared at each other and narrowed their eyes.
"You changed the set…"
"And you can calmly watch the ball now like a normal person."
"Hey!"
Hinata gritted his teeth at Kageyama's words and Haruto who was watching the two of them formed a huge smile seeing the changes they showed.
The three of them looked at each other before grinning and made their way back into their positions without saying anything. As they waited for Daichi to serve the ball, one thought flashed through their minds.
'They changed but I won't let them go ahead of me.'
