章 109: Ch.109 Cosmic Level Intervention!

Kris was not surprise at all seeing this notification, what got him thinking though is that since in the novel One supposedly survived due to Zhengs intervention. 'Wouldn't He be in the building as well?'
'Maybe since I didn't implant the bomb in it, the explosion wasn't strong enough to kill it.' Kris thought.
Later would he know that the Nemesis#2 as they would call it, didn't make it to the building since the Nemesis#2 had evolved when they were transporting it there. But, that's a problem for later...
Meanwhile with Zheng's group...
Everyone was shocked to see the wreckage that was the Umbrella main building. After they saw that they each received 2000 points and a D rank reward.
They could only make the same conclusion, this must be Kris's doing. Zheng couldn't help but blame him self for not remembering to inform Kris about his deal with Umbrella.
Now they have no choice but to proceed towards the check point by car.
Unaware that this move by Kris just gave them a better chance at surviving the attack from Team Devil, or not...
With Team Devil...
They are now essentially blind since two of their psyche force users was incapacitated. They have no choice but to do things differently.
Xuan was able to tap into the city's cctv network and get the general direction where Zheng's group is located.
So, they all boarded their sky sticks and proceeded towards that location.
On the way there they spoted the flying Yanwei, Everyone was surprised that she was now wearing a bulky coverall without her bow.
She quickly flew next to them, explaining that someone had knocked her out and took her equipment.
Devil Zheng, and Xuan was incredibly shocked by this. Yanwei was then mocked by some of the members, saying that a local must have caught her off guard with a stun gun stealing everything she had.
So ashamed of the incident Yanwei was beet red the whole flight.
But, Xuan and Devil Zheng was really bothered by this that Xuan even did a cursory scan over Yanwei's body. But he didn't find anything abnormal, other than the scribbles below her navel.
Which was just made by ordinary permanent marker, sighing at this Xuan explained. That this might have been done as a prank, after the individual took her stuff.
He further explained that this person might be female and is in a certain teenage range of maturity due to not molesting Yanwei and just pranking her a little. And because she brought Yanwei to a safe place afterwards it meant she didn't mean lethal harm.
Zheng then asked,"Are you saying that this person might be Jill? God have changed alot in this movie due to some inconsistencies. So, the Jill in this movie might be the Jill from the game..."
"If I could remember it correctly, this Jill was trained by her father to become a master theft. But she rebelled and joined the army instead. That possibility could be high." said Xuan, but he couldn't be so far off.
With Kris...
Having been out for at least 4 hours now, Kris returned to the clock tower so he could rest and re-apply the barrier over Jill.
When he met with her she was in the middle of figuring out some of her abilities, though this time she was exploring the limits of the Muscle Mimicry ability by performing some martial art moves.
Kris couldn't help but lean on a side wall and watch her go thru the movements and katas of each martial art she saw.
After she realize he was watching her she said,"How long have you been there, drooling?"
Kris could only smile shaking his head as he takes out a bottle of water and a towel.
He then came closer to Jill and handed her the items saying,"I swear your getting more confident about your self lately, or is it that your getting bolder that you've enough guts to be a tease?"
Jill just took the items and huffed at Kris's words.
"Why don't you go freshen up, I'll make us something to eat. The little piggies outside are going to take a while moving within the city at this time. Evolved zombies will be running around." said Kris
Kris went on to prepare a meal with the tools he had brought with him, but not before leaving Jill a clean pair of clothes. Ever since Umbrella sealed the city 13 days ago, they have also systematically shut down the utilities in some none essential sectors.
Luckily the clock tower they were in is hooked up with the near by hospitals electricity grid so they still have power. Being an old building, the clock tower is still connected to the old water system the city used before.
Having water and electricity in a zombie apocalypse scenario is very essential if you want to survive. He could hardly believe that Shearpike's AI was able to put this into consideration when it found this place.
When Kris was preparing the steak he took out on his induction cooker, he began to think about the lingering questions he had.
Especially about on how God operates, it has already been established that God is just basically a very advanced AI that the ancients created to prepare their descendant of the coming invasion.
But, what he couldn't wrap his mind on is that it seems that God is starting to show some very questionable, actions that really doesn't benefit the players as a whole.
A thought has been cooking up in his head lately, and it made him feel more and more unease as he goes thru these missions that the system provides them.
At first he chucked it up to the system trying to straighten out multiple glitches such as jie, the final destination dimension, and ofcourse him.
Until now it still baffles him on how two souls could just somehow be attracted to one single artificial body with an artificial soul. It really seems orchestrated to him, well he can't roll out the fact that it sort of happend to Jie as well.
But, that has some sort of bases, in a very vague kinda way...
What disturbed him the most though was the conclusion he made while back tracking all the facts he had gathered.
'Was he the system's attempt to replicate what happend with Jie? If so, why? And, since the system would have seemed to have replicated this phenomenon, What has it concluded to?'
These questions plagued Kris for a while until Jill came back, now wearing the clothes he had left for her a while ago.
He set up the plates now filled with T-Bone stakes and a few potatoes and peas.
Jill sat down and eat quietly, when she almost had half of her meal. She broke the silence saying,"Really out of all the outfits you could choose you picked this one?"
"I'm sorry those come as a set and I didn't have the fashion insight to pick the right one. I was originally looking for some very skimpy hot pants but I couldn't find any. So sue me, fashion police!" said Kris defensively
"Huh! you sound awfully guilty for someone who just did a grab and bag at some store. But, hot pants? I never pegged you for the type..." said Jill enjoying the banter.
"What's with the sudden boost in confidence lately? What happened to the little startled gazelle from before?" asked Kris after gulping down a cup of water.
"Well, I don't know... After all that happened in the mountains that time... I started to sort some things out and found out that my life is too short to let fear and anxiety rule over me."
"The first thing my father taught me is how to make an escape and cover my tracks when things get hairy. And I've sorta brought that with me growing up."
"I escaped when I couldn't measure up to his expectations by joining the army. I escaped the tenured responsibility in the army by joining S.T.A.R.S. I tried to escape you when I felt like things were going too fast. I escaped those mountains just like I was taught to."
"So, here I am once again trying to escape what I've become. This is nothing new. After all, I'm my fathers little girl." said Jill deprecatingly.
"Well, you were successful in all those things. But, like you said... you haven't escaped me just yet."
Just about when things were about to get sappy, an explosion racked the whole clock tower.
The normal response in this situation would have been to arm up and try to figure out what caused the explosion.
Some would even Dock-Hold-and-Cover...
But not Kris. He just sat there, thinking,'Was I just c*ckblocked by a dyme explosion?'
