章 2: FULL MOON
7 AM, WALKER HOUSE
"Mom, dad good morning." Nick said as he sat down on the chair.
"Good morning, Son. Hasn't Zach woken up yet?" Katherine asked
"He is getting ready when I passed by his room, he must be coming down now." Nick said
"Hmm…." Katherine humped while placing the plates on the table.
"Mom, Dad, I want to discuss something with you." Nick said
"What is it?" Katherine asked worriedly
"I want to take a rest today. Can I?" Nick said
"Are you sick? Does your head hurt?" Katherine asked with concern
"No, mom. It's just I feel little tired and drained." Nick replied
"Nothing else?" Katherine asked doubtingly
"Nothing else" nick affirmed with a smile
"Okay, then you can take a rest but don't make it a habit" Katherine said sternly.
"Falling down or taking a leave?" Nick said sarcastically
Katherine glared at nick while Jon smiled lighted at nick's antics.
Zach came down as we finished our talk and we all started eating our breakfast.
After the breakfast, they all went to their destination while Nick closed the door and went upstairs.
A few moments later…
Nick's POV
I walked out of the house, closed the door behind me and went to the first abandoned factory. On the way, I looked for all the cameras that could be used to track me. Like planned, I went to all four factories to take a look and finally selected the abandoned factory which was easily and covertly accessible for me without anyone disturbance. After finalizing the plan, I went back home and started to rest to have energy to fight through the night.
9 PM, WALKER HOUSE.
After my family slept, I covered my face and took the chains and handcuffs, sneaked out of the room. I followed the path, I decided in the morning and reached the abandoned factory. I searched for a sturdy place and handcuffed my self to it and sat down fighting my urges to go on a rampage.
I put my family as anchor and also recited the mantra 'Three Things Cannot Be Long Hidden – The Sun, The Moon and The Truth.' As I was reciting, I could feel the moon's effect on my body. My nails started to turn into claws and teeth's starts to extend out. My face was slowing developing hairs on either side of the cheeks. When I opened my eyes, I could only see red.
My senses slowly became heightened, I could hear car going through the streets, sirens of the ambulances, firetrucks and patrol cars, trains, airplanes, people talking, fighting, laughing, enjoying themselves. I could smell all kinds smells so much so that I started to retch. My urges as a predator was slowly emerging trying to mold me into a killer. I started to get angry, I tried to yanks of cuffs even though I felt pain of the metal cutting through my skin.
As I was about to succeed, I concentrated, controlled the urges and started to fight back the urge. As this continued, the time passed by and finally I triumphed my bloodlust on my first full moon. By the time I took control again, it was already the 4 AM. So, I broke handcuffs with brute force, cleaned the blood of it and packed it to thrown it in a dumpster on the way back home.
As I was packing, I heard footsteps, slowly making way. When I looked up, I saw a middle-aged man, muscular and square jawed standing there looking at me with a grin. He looked at me and then slowly raised his hands to clap.
"Bravo, Nicholas you triumphed the first full moon beautifully. You are a talent, my beta." The man said chucking evilly
"Who are you?" I asked angrily
"Oh, that hurt me Nick. Well I don't mind. This will help you remember." He said as his eyes slowly started to glow bright red.
"You are the one that bit me." I growled angrily as I accused.
"Yes, I wanted a beta because wolves are stronger in a pack. My last pack was killed now I am building a new pack." The man replied like it was not new to him
"So, you go around biting other people and turning into wolves." I asked with increasing anger at his attitude and indifference and lack of empathy.
"Well, I bite people and if they survive, I add one to my ranks." He said grinning evilly
"What do you by if?" I asked confused at his remark
"Well, it means if their bodies fight the bite and they die?" He said as he didn't care about the life and death of the people he bit.
"So, how many survived?" I asked in horror
"In New York, only you survived." He said solemnly
"Fuck" I cursed
"What are you building a pack for?" I asked
"Because only together can I survive and I want to take some revenge along the way."
"What if I don't join your pack? Your revenge has nothing to do with me."
The man narrowed his eyes growled and dashed towards me. I took a fighting stance and was about to pounce on him but he kicked me. I was thrown far and crashed into the wall. When I was trying to get up, the man grabbed my throat and lifted me up high in the air. He through me again to wall and stomped on my chest in a dominant manner and said
"Yours power are given by me. You either bow down to me or die."
Then he stared at me and I also looked back not backing down. He looked at me amused and irritated and then he laughed. I could feel a chill in the air and a voice accompanied it
"Everyone breaks one day nick and I like breaking heads of the proud ones the most. See you again."
By the time I blinked, he was not there. I slowly got up and cleaned up myself. I swiftly went to home and sneaked in without them noticing.
General POV
7.20 AM, WALKER HOUSE
"Nick, come down fast, Jon is leaving. If you don't leave for school now, you'll be walking to school." Katherine yelled from downstairs
"Coming, Mom" Nick replied as he ran down the stairs.
He ran down the stairs, gave mom a hug and kiss and grabbed the food and dashed to his father's car.
"Sorry, dad I slept in." Nick said to his father smiling goofily
"It's okay son but next time you walk." Jon said grinning
Nick's POV
7.40 AM, MIDTOWN HIGH SCHOOL
I got out of the car said bye to my father and went to the school. I went to my locker, took my books and went to the class. As usual there was nothing happening at school, except for kids discussing news of a serial killer in town. The number of deaths has reached an alarming rate of 5. All died due to some poisoning and they had a dog bite on different parts of their body.
When I first heard the news, I shivered as I thought 'I may have been one of those, I got lucky.' After the day, I went back home. In the evening, me and my brother had the dinner and went to sleep as my father was assigned to the serial killing case while my mom had a night shift.
5 AM, BLEECKER STREET
I woke up confused as I was feeling cold all over my body and taste of pavement in my mouth. Startled I sat up, looked at myself and found that I was not wearing anything except a trouser. Confused, I looked up and saw a board with Bleecker street written on it. Belatedly, I realized, I might sle-wolf- walked last night. So, I went back home, avoiding been caught on camera or by people as much as possible. I sneaked into my room got dressed and went out for a run.
7.15 AM, WALKER HOUSE
As we were having breakfast, my father got a call. After attending the call, my father became serious. When I asked what happened, he said there has been another dog serial killer victim. The body was found on Bleecker street.
When I heard that I got visibly panicked but quickly hid it. So, I wolfed down the food fast as he has to drop both us at school today since mom is asleep. During that day, I was not in the mood to concentrate on the classes, as evident of being scolded and laughed at by my classmates and teachers.
After school, I dashed to home and changed my dress quickly. After getting ready, I went to Bleecker street to find out if I did it or not. When I reached their, the area was cordoned off by the police but there was no one guarding so I sneaked in avoiding the camera.
When I went in, I saw blood splattered on either side of the alley. I touched the surface of the blood, 'I felt a red eyes staring at me and a woman screaming for help'. I quickly snapped out of it. Since I couldn't find anything, I moved in to find out more. Then when I touched the blood again, I felt someone growling and saying 'Come on nick, you are a predator. Embrace your identity, kill her.' I snapped out again with sweat on my back, horrified. Then I kept searching for more, hoping I didn't do it. I searched the full area but I still couldn't get any clues.
I started feel angry and terrified, I got out of the street but the guilt of killing an innocent was gnawing at my heart. So, I went to the abandoned factory. In anger, I howled hard. It echoed throughout the city.
A few moments later…
"Nick, are you angry that you killed her. It's alright you are predator it is what you should do."
When I heard him say that I snapped, lost control and attacked him, well, you could say I tried except I was beaten badly again. After beating me, he chuckled and said
"I told you Nick, you are my beta and you will listen to me. When I ask you to kill, you kill. Good work this time but don't question or fight me again. My patience has also its limits and you don't want to see me angry."
Then he walked away amidst my sad howling and crying. But suddenly I felt something when I touched the blood on my body and I saw that the alpha was the one who killed the woman, since I didn't kill him as per his command. When I understood what really happened, I was relieved and went back home but with a revelation that next time it may be not that easy.
7.40AM, MIDTOWN HIGH SCHOOL
After my dad dropped me at school, I walked towards the locker room. While I was looking at my schedule, my locker door was slammed shut.
Bang
When I looked up, I saw the alpha grinning at me evilly.
"Nick, come with me obediently or else I will rip the throats out of these kids for you to see and then find your family next." The alpha said gripping my arm forcefully so much that it broke. I complied to him as he dragged me out of school.
