"Good morning, Sweety," Kalea whispered softly as she leaned over, gazing deeply into her baby's innocent, beautiful eyes. Unable to resist, she gently kissed her little girl's forehead, a loving smile spreading across her face.
She then slowly reclined against her pillow, savoring a few seconds of peace in the midst of her new routine as a mother. Actually, Kalea still felt very sleepy. Her sleeping hours were erratic; the little baby often woke up in the middle of the night, crying for attention or a feed. But no matter how tired she was, seeing her baby calm and not crying made it all worth it.
A soft knock on the door soon broke the silence, followed by a familiar voice. "Good morning," Kai greeted warmly as he opened the door.
"Morning, Kai," Kalea replied.
Kai walked over and held out his arms to hold the baby. Cradling her with care, he smiled. "Did she sleep well?" he asked, his gaze shifting to Kalea, his concern evident.
