章 28: Kemonono Island.
After he says the words two red wings appear on his back and he takes a leap towards the island.
*Fwoosh!*
He flies towards the island at a leisurely pace, not too worried about the situation.
*Smash!*
He sees a panda-like creature smashing through a bunch of houses off in the distance.
'What is that?'
He increases his speed to reach the situation faster.

'What a durable bastard...' A suit wearing man thinks to himself, wiping some blood off of his knuckles.
''Just die already! Annoying bastard!''
''T-The warriors of Kemonono Kingdom will never fall to the likes of you!''
*Smash!*
''Pah!''
A fist flies into the panda-like man's stomach causing him to fly out of the roof of the house they were standing in, and land in the middle of the streets. onlookers flee away from the scene and watch from a safer distance.
*Cough!*
The panda-like man let's out a harsh cough, causing some blood to shoot out of his mouth and land on his chest.
As he lays on his back and looks up to the sky he can see a black and red figure approaching him from above.
'Is that the angel of death, come to claim my soul?' He thinks to himself, closing his eyes in acceptance.
'Brothers... May you fight on, and relish in your victory...'
*Land!*
*Step.*
*Step.*
As David lands the man in the suit looks at him with a bit of shock before a smile spreads across his face.
''Hey, you a pirate?''
''...''
David pokes the weird looking panda man in the side with his foot to see if he's alive.
''Ah!''
The man's eyes shoot open and he lets out groan of pain.
''Oh, so you are alive. Let me ask you again. Are you a pirate? I don't recognize your face.''
''A-A pirate? No no no. I w-was an honorable warrior o-of great renown...'' The man squeezes out while lying in pain.
''Was? Well, whatever. I'll just take you back to the ship. Tommy will know.''
'It seems there's something else that has to be dealt with first...' He thinks, looking over to the man in the suit.
(Pete Cashmore) (Human) (Apparition)
'"Black suit" Pete. Bounty of 122,350,000. To think I would find another participant so soon...'
[You were bound to run into one someday.]
'Guess I'll have to skip this next fight... Fine by me!' Pete thinks to himself before turning running up towards David, fist held up high.
'So slow...' David thinks to himself before dodging the blow with ease and walking past Pete.
''Huh!?'' Pete looks a few meters behind himself and sees David standing there with a blank, almost bored, expression.
'When did he get there?' He thinks to himself.
Seeing Pete's surprised face causes David to let out a bit of a smile, which pisses Pete of.
Pete raises his arm to try and deliver another blow.

'...?'
'Why can't I raise my arm?'
He looks over to his right shoulder.
*Drip...*
*Drip...*
'!!!'
Blood pours out of the gaping wound that used to be his shoulder, now just a blank torso.
''Hah...! Hah....!'' He takes a couple of heavy breaths and looks back to David, His pupils racing in shock.
He sees David holding the dried husk of his arm up to his mouth.
*Smack.*
He removes the arm from his lips and turns it into powder.
Pete takes his other hand up to what's left of his shoulder in disbelief.
'Mmmm... Refreshing.' David thinks to himself before taking another step towards Pete.
'!!!'
Pete's body turns into invisible smoke.
'Fuck! Fuck! I have to get out of here!' He thinks to himself, floating back towards his ship with great haste.
As he disappears David stares intently at the spot he disappeared at.
He notices a suspicious movement of air and lifts up his foot.
*Stomp!*
''Gah!''
A mighty foot steps on Pete's back with great force, pinning him to the ground.
He turns his head in horror, looking at David's hand reaching for his head.
'N-No!' He thinks in pure fear, his life flashing before his eyes.
''AAAA-''
*Smash!*
David knocks the man's head into the ground below, knocking him out cold.
'I guess the aviation skill can be used for more than just one thing huh?' He thinks to himself.
He then spits up a bit of blood and smears it on his hands, applying it to the wound on Pete's arm.
*Fshhhh...*
The wound closes up in a few seconds, leaving behind a mass of scar tissue.
'It seems that it's not as effective on other people as it is on me...'
He picks Pete up and throws him over his shoulders.
''Hey! You said you're a great warrior right? Do you have a badge maybe? Or some kind of proof?''
The panda-like man who has been watching the exchange with stunned expression snaps out of his stupor.
''A-A badge? Y-Yes I have something like that!''
He moves his hand into a chest pocket and pulls out a medallion.
''Crassus Virbestia III, 6th protector of our great lord... Seems legit.''
''Swallow this.''
David opens up the panda man's mouth and spits a big glob of blood into it.
''Hng!''
The taste revolts him but he swallows it down regardless.
A warm feeling fills his body and slowly, the pain starts to subside.
''M-My lord! What a miracle... Brothers...!''
''You should be able to stand now. Here, take my hand.''
The panda-like man takes David's hand and hoists himself back up on to his feet.
''Thank you! Oh, thank you warrior of the seas! How could ever repay such a selfless act?''
''Well, we can talk about payment later, how about-''
*Ching!*
David let's go of Crassus's hand and avoids the blow.
''Halt! You will unhand my brother at once fiend!''
A giant, lion-like man yells, pointing a spear towards David.
''Uhhhh...''
''L-Leo! You misunderstand!''
''Crassus! Are you alright!? I will take care of this!''
''N-No! He is not the invader! Look! He is holding the fiend over his shoulder!''
''What!? Let me see! Put that man down!'' Leo roars.
''No problem.'' David responds calmly, trowing Pete over to the lion-like man.
The man wraps his hand around Pete's stomach, covering the entirety of his upper body, and lifts him up to his face.
''He's the one who defeated the fiend. He helped defend our lord.'' Crassus explains.
''...''
The man puts Pete's head into his maw and bites down.
*Crunch!*
''!!!''
David jumps up to Leo's maw and rips open his mouth.
''Aga!?''
He throws his arm into the gaping mouth and snatches Pete's head before it falls down into Leo's gullet and jumps back down.
''B-Boy!'' Leo yells out in surprise and indignation.
David gives Leo a death stare, causing him to take a step back.
*Sigh...*
He looks down to the severed head in his hands.
'Well, at least I can still get the bounty...'
He looks back to Leo with anger in his eyes.
''...!''
Sweat pours down Leo's forehead but he does not avert his gaze.
''P-Please forgive our rudeness dear sir!'' Crassus jumps in front of David and gets down on his knees.
''It is only our custom to finish our enemies without mercy! Do not take it as an offense!''
''Crassus! I should be the one to apologize!'' Leo exclaims, getting down on his knees as well.
The onlookers standing around gasp in surprise at the events.
''I have shown you great disrespect, great warrior of the sea! Please, take my head as punishment!''
Leo hands David a large, decorated blade.
David looks down at the two men with a blank expression.
*Smash!*
David throws a foot into Leo's massive body, causing him to fly backwards.
''Pah!''
''Who'd want your shitty head!?'' David yells out, annoyed at the two's antics.
'S-Shitty...?' Leo thinks to himself with indignation.
*Sigh...*
''How about this... I have a crew that will be coming here pretty soon. How bout' you arrange a party or something to celebrate the victory and Crassus can show me and the crew around town?''
''N-No! My transgression must be repaid in blood!'' Leo cries out.
David clenches his fist in the air, his aggravation growing by the second.
''That sounds nice... Mind if I join?'' A woman's voice seeps into David's ears.
''!!!'' The two men's faces widen in shock.
''Who is it now...'' David turns to the source of the voice.
''Tigrid Curcallidus I, 3rd protector of our great lord.'' A large, tiger-like woman reaches out a hand to David, almost the size of his torso.
He looks up at her face and shakes her hand, or, at least tries.
''David Baird, bounty hunter.'' He says with a stoic expression
''A bounty hunter huh? I have to say that I'm interested.'' The woman says with a curious smile.
'This woman seems... A bit off...' He thinks to himself.
''If you'd like, I'd be more than willing to show you and your crew around town.'' She suggests.
''Nah, I'm good. My girlfriend would probably get mad at me, she tends to get jealous.'' He responds with a smile.
''Ahhh... That is too bad.'' She replies with a smile of her own.
''Well, I'll leave it up to you then Crass...''
''I will show him the greatness of our kingdom!'' Crassus responds with a smile.
''How about you show me to the docks first then? They should have arrived by now.''
''Of course! Leo! You should report today's events to the king.''
''B-But!''
''That would be a nice way to pay me back...'' David says to himself.
''...Fine! I shall work my hardest to uphold my honor!'' Leo shouts out before running towards the center of the city.''

''So who is the "great lord"?'' David asks as they're walking to the docks.
''The great lord is our father, our king. We dedicate our lives to serve him and protect his kingdom.''
Crassus responds.
''Your father?''
''Yes. He is the one who mercifully granted us strength by...''
''By...?''
''We have arrived.'' Crassus declares.
''Oh, you're right. I wonder where our ships are?'' He ponders out loud.
''Crassus! Thank the lord you're here!'' A man runs up to Crassus and calls out.
''What's the commotion?'' Crassus asks.
''There's a pirate fleet approaching!''
''A fleet!?'' Crassus responds in surprise, preparing for battle once again.
''Hoh! Who is it?'' David calls out in excitement.
The man is surprised to be questioned by David but responds anyways.
''It seems to be a collection of multiple pirate crews joining hands in an attack! Two ships are unknown but one has been identified as being part of the "Iron Pirates" and-''
''Those are my ships.'' David interrupts.
''Yes, there also seems... Wait what!?'' The man yells out in surprise.
''Those are my ships. I'm a bounty hunter. I killed those guys and took their ships.'' He explains calmly.

.
''Let them enter the dock unimpeded please.'' Crassus commands.
''Y-Yes! Right away!'' The man responds, scurrying off.
''Sorry about that!'' David says to Crassus.
''Oh, it's no problem, Really!'' Crassus responds with a smile.
They walk over to the edge of the bridge to watch the ships as the come in.
The ships dock safely and David jumps on to greet them as they arrive.
''We really should buy some new ships...'' Jingfei suggests as soon as he jumps on board.
''Well, it worked out in the end, didn't it?'' David says with a smile before giving her a quick kiss.
''So what was the commotion all about?''
''Oh, about that-''
''Gaaaaaah! This is impossible!'' Tommy shouts out in frustration, interrupting the two.
''What's up?'' David asks.
''I can't get this stupid thing open! I don't get it at all!'' He grumbles.
''Aaaah! I give up!''
