My muscle memory kicks in and everything around me suddenly moves sluggishly. In my mind, I have a few techniques on how to defend myself against this guy, but I also did not want to cause more trouble than I should.

He turns to my face and winks.
I did not know what he means by that wink, so I just nodded my head.
"You… bastards! I will kill you all!" Young Lord Fan shouted as he pointed at us.
Suddenly a few men wearing black leather traveling cloaks stood in front of the young man.
"You have wounded the young lord. You must come with us to be punished." One of the black-cloaked men said while glaring in my direction.
I lifted my two hands and showed a faint smile.
"Mister… I have not done anything wrong. Your Young Lord stabs himself and you want to blame me for his stupid action?" I retorted.
"No need to answer… Get that boy." The man said with a stern expression.
It seems that he is the leader of the group guarding this young lord.
The expression of the man with us turned serious.
"This is bad, I did not expect that he has taken 5 guards with him…" he muttered but readied himself for a fight.
"You dare…" a cold yet dainty voice interrupted us as two beautiful women appear in front of me.
The guards of the young lord stopped in their tracks and look at Big Sister Xhiling and Big Sister Mei.
"Falling Cloud sect member and a soldier…" one of the guards muttered with a frown.
The reason why people would say that Big Sister Xhiling is a soldier is because of the wooden plate hanging on her side.
She told me that it was her identity as a soldier. But of course, I know that it was just a cover as she is in truth a military assassin.
But when I met the group of Scarface Jiang, I guess that wooden plate truly signifies that she was really once a soldier.
I could tell that hesitation is in the eyes of those guards and even the young lord.
I heard that those soldiers that have come home from the battlefield have already arrived in the village. That is the reason for the slightly festive atmosphere in the village.
"I don't care! The Fan clan is not afraid of anyone!" the young lord shouted in anger.
At this time a lot of eyes have already gathered around us due to the shout of that young lord.
"Heh… The Fan clan?... Your clan is nothing but a fart!" an arrogant voice interrupted the attention of everyone.
The crowd suddenly parted and a group of beautiful and handsome-looking young men and young women walks towards us.
Leading the group is a young man wearing a white shirt and black pants with a white fan in his hand. From the way this group is dressed, they look like people from affluent families.
"I did not expect that this small village would be this fun…" the young man said while he folded his fan.
The group of the young lord frowned deeply while looking at the group of youths.
Without hesitation, Young lord Fan turns around and leaves in a sorry state.
I was dumbfounded upon seeing this. I did not expect to see such a sight.
"Boy… that person is a petty one. I advise you to be careful…" the young man said while turning around.
It seems that his group just went here to insult that young lord.
We also did not want to linger and just paid for the stones and left.
As soon as we got out we met with Scarface Jiang he discussed to us the mission tomorrow.
"You are also coming?" he said with disbelief in his eyes while looking at me.
"Yes… I am." I said showing a confident smile.
"This little guy is very strong. Don't be fooled by his size or age." Big Sister Xhiling said with a smile.
I could not help but nod my head.
"Alright, your group will join us tomorrow… Like in the old days…" he said with a smile.
"Like in the old days…" Big Sister Xhiling replied while showing a knowing smile.
We got home to prepare for tomorrow and I also decided to open the things that I have gotten from that place.
The artifact and the stone that I've got are a bit peculiar so I am feeling a bit excited to open them.
After an hour of carefully chipping away the hardened objects covering the artifact and chipping away the stone, what appears in front of me is a clean statue of a soldier and a multicolored gemstone.
I knew that something is strange with the stone and upon knowing that it was a multicolored gemstone I was excited.
"Multicolored Ether stone…" I read the words in my subconscious mind.
"So, I can slowly absorb the energy from this thing to make me stronger…"
The soldier artifact on the other hand is actually a defensive talisman. However, the defense it gives is a bit weird.
Traveling through the forest is dangerous. There are many poisonous insects and venomous animals that live in the forest. I have died many times in their hands so I know the danger they pose.
So having this statue is actually a lifesaver as it would ward off any insects with a radius of 10 meters.
I could also absorb the energy from it, but I am more curious about how it works.
While scrutinizing the palm-size artifact, I noticed incomprehensible glyphs on its surface.
If one would look at it with their naked eyes, one would not know its purpose, but with my Spirit Eyes, I could clearly see its function.
Plus, if I am able to inject Ether into the statue, then the protection would not only be for the insects but also for far bigger creatures.
I knew that I have hit the jackpot upon realizing this.
But then I stopped as I noticed that something is wrong with the artifact.
"Hmm… It could only last 3 times before it would break apart if it takes heavy attacks."
From the surface of the object and the energy fluctuation it produces, I knew that my conjecture was correct.
"Guardian Spirit…" I read the words at the bottom of the artifact.
"The one who made this might be a true expert…"I muttered as I felt a bit amazed at the object.
With the multicolored gemstone and the Ether stones I have with me, I knew that I would be able to protect myself from death. This is not necessary as I know I could not die anyway, but I now have companions. I don't want them to suspect my state of being a Primary immortal.
After I finished preparing everything, I sat on the bed and held the multicolored gem in my hand.
"Let me see what I would get if I absorb you…" I muttered while looking at the gemstone the size of my palm.
Without hesitation, I quickly tried to absorb the Ether from the multicolored gem.
Cool and warm energy began flowing from my fingertips touching the gem that slowly crawls to my palms.
I could feel the strange sensation as the energy slowly gathers in my palm and then in my arms.
Not long later after the energy circles through my body and slowly goes to my head… it once again disappears.
"Pure energy detected… commence absorbing…" a text appears in my subconscious mind and I could feel the uncontrollable suction force from my body and the Ether energy courses through my veins.
At first, it was nice and good, but soon, I could feel the heat rising throughout my body. I even think that my blood is beginning to boil as I absorb more energy.
"No… this is bad… I should stop." I quickly tried to pry my hand away from the multicolored gem but to no avail.
Arrgghh!!!
I could not help but grit my teeth as the pain slowly intensified as more and more energy began to enter my body.
If at first, it was just like slow-flowing water, now it is like a raging river entering my meridians.
I could even hear something popping inside of me.
My Spirit Eyes at this time are already waning and all I could see is darkness as even my senses are also being overwhelmed by the pain in my body.
I did not know how long the pain I was feeling but I suddenly felt it stopped.
I was able to go through it without fainting but as soon as everything stopped… so does my consciousness fading.
