Althea couldn't stop smiling. The dark red blood had already dried at the corners of her lips, cracking uncomfortably as the stretched skin on her pale face pulled taut. Yet, despite the unpleasant sensation, the queen's excitement easily overshadowed it.

The king was dead. She had killed him, at last.

Her eyes narrowed as she glared down at the gaping wound in the middle of the dead man's chest. The black emptiness where his heart used to be filled her with a strange sense of satisfaction. 

Unlike her promise to Kai, she could no longer give that heart to the prince. Instead, she would use it for something that would, without a doubt, bring Lorelai back.
