The final of the advanced Soul Master academy competition took place in the main city of the Martial Soul Hall, which was situated at the border between two countries, and neither of the two empires owned it. What mattered most was that one of the two most revered buildings of the Martial Soul Hall, the Pope's Palace, was located therein.
The Pope's Palace was renowned as the most majestic building in the entire Soul Land, and it was because of this newly built Pope's Palace that Spirit City had become a sacred place in the hearts of all Soul Masters. It also served as a capital-like presence that Martial Soul Hall had established for itself.
The Shrek squad had been traveling for about ten days, departing alongside the Tiandou Royal Team, as they were essentially representing the Tiandou Empire in the battle. Several academies along with hundreds of royal knights provided protection. However, considering Xu Ran's strength, the Tiandou Empire did not assign powerful protectors for them. Xu Ran's strength was more than enough to guard the group. If they did encounter a danger that even Xu Ran could not handle, even several Soul Douluo dispatched by the empire would be of no use.
For the Tiandou Empire, Soul Douluo were almost considered top-level combatants. The other Titled Douluo were either from other sects or independent cultivators.
Originally, Xu Ran should have represented the Xingluo Imperial Academy of the Xingluo Empire. However, Xu Ran did not have a strong sense of belonging to any world or nation. After all, he was a transmigrator; in comparison, Xu Ran had spent more time in the Tiandou Empire.
Not just Xu Ran, but people from other academies also did not have a strong sense of national belonging. Rather, it was their academies and sects that could be their backing.
Most crucially, Xu Ran's mission was not to win the competition.
Along the way, Xu Ran and his companions were in no hurry, instead leisurely admiring the scenery along the road. Xu Ran frolicked with the ladies from time to time, with most of his time devoted to cultivation and enlightenment.
After advancing in strength, Xu Ran had gained a deep understanding of the major trends in harmony with nature. Xu Ran's "Cultivation Level" was now very solid, with his Soul Power reserve almost comparable to those of level 95 and above Titled Douluo under the same cultivation conditions. As for the quality of Soul Power, he was much stronger than theirs.
The quality of energy determines the power of your attacks. The Divine Power from the Divine Realm is far superior to the Soul Power from the lower realms, which is why no matter how against the odds a Soul Master from the lower realms is, no matter how capable they are of challenging those above their level, they cannot defeat a god.
Xu Ran was able to defeat the Rakshasa God because, even though it was Soul Power, it was mixed with various Supreme Attributes. While he was not a god, and his power system still belonged to the Soul Power system, the quantitative change led to a qualitative transformation. With so many Supreme Attributes mixed in, Xu Ran's Soul Power quality was not much weaker than that of a First-Level God's Divine Power.
"What a magnificent Spirit City, truly befitting as the biggest city on the continent," Flander said, looking at the grand buildings, unable to hide his amazement.
Deservedly so, for the Martial Soul Hall to suppress nearly all forces on the continent with its own strength.
"Yes, as the number one city on the continent, Spirit City is indeed worthy of the title," Liu Erlong, as the vice principal of Shrek Academy, said, riding on horseback, dressed in tight attire, looking dashing. Staring at the majestic walls of Spirit City, she too was astounded.
It was hard to imagine the continent had such an awe-inspiring building, soaring into the clouds; just looking at it gave one a sense of oppression. No wonder Martial Soul Hall had so many followers.
"That woman is still the Spirit Hall Pope; that's really a lot of pressure," Liu Erlong muttered, showing a complex expression on her beautiful face. Bi Bidong, as the Spirit Hall Pope, naturally held sway over her.
Originally, when Yu Xiaogang was around, Bi Bidong was stronger than her.
Now she saw through Brock's character and truly fell in love with Xu Ran. But Bi Bidong was also catching up.
Was Bi Bidong harboring a grudge against her?
It was her who was with Xu Ran first, but Bi Bidong, with her noble status and control over Martial Soul Hall, is a true powerhouse woman and could incite Xu Ran's desire to conquer. Although Xu Ran liked to see her dressed as a teacher at the academy, with a shirt and a tight black skirt, she indeed had a charming air, and even she was pleased with herself. Being able to enthrall one's own husband is the happiest thing for a wife.
But no matter how good she looked or how beautifully she dressed herself, it couldn't compare to Bi Bidong in her Pope's robes.
That superior demeanor, ruling the world, sitting at the highest place in Pope's Palace, looking down upon everything, no man could resist such temptation.
"Could Bi Bidong be thinking of getting back at me? I made a fool of her last time, took advantage of her when she was powerless, and left her body limp. Now that she has regained her strength and returned to Martial Soul Hall, she might be looking for revenge," Liu Erlong said, his face falling as he suddenly sensed trouble was brewing.
"So strong. Much stronger than our Seven Treasures Glaze Sect," he added with awe.
The women were also curiously looking around Spirit City, noticing that the caliber and "Cultivation Level" of the people here were far beyond what other places could offer. As for Xu Ran, he had already sensed the presence of nearly twenty Titled Douluo.
Just Martial Soul Hall alone gathered so many powerhouses. Even if the Titled Douluo of other places in Soul Land were added together, they would not surpass the number from Martial Soul Hall.
Martial Soul Hall controlled the awakening of Martial Souls in most children aged six across Soul Land. The talented Soul Masters would generally be recruited into Martial Soul Hall. Therefore, it made sense that Martial Soul Hall had such formidable strength.
Soul Land is a place where one thrives on talent, and with a group of talented individuals at your disposal, naturally, you would do very well.
As for Brock's saying, "There are no trash Martial Souls, only trash Soul Masters," that's a statement to laugh at and then forget.
Tang San's talent was one of the rare Twin Martial Souls in Soul Land's history, with his first Martial Soul having the hidden lineage of the Bluesilver Emperor. Surely Brock didn't really believe he could cultivate an ordinary Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul into something incredible.
"Brother Xu, welcome to Martial Soul Hall. I'm ecstatic about your visit." From a distance, an extremely arrogant voice rang out. Tang San was clad in a Mysterious Robe, surrounded by strong guards, and in an instant, he drew the attention of many.
Everyone looked at Tang San, some in surprise, wondering what sort of person could speak to Xu Ran as an equal. Moreover, Tang San's attire was enough to reveal that he must hold a significant status within Martial Soul Hall.
"Tang San, acting all high and mighty? In front of Xu Ran, you're nothing but a dog's fart," Ning Rongrong spat out angrily, clearly having a deep dislike for Tang San.
"Tang San is despicable and disgusting. Last time he left Shrek Academy, I didn't expect him to join Martial Soul Hall and be so valued by them. But some people, no matter how brightly they dress, can't conceal the filth in their hearts," Xiaowu said disdainfully, her voice loud enough to reach Tang San's ears, causing him a moment of intense heartache. It was as if his heart was bleeding.
