A green moon with several light brown stripes can be seen from space, it is none other than Fuezor II. The imperial fleet zooms ahead of it from hyperspace. Admiral Vandar stares outside of the observation deck from his massive super star destroyer with Vader glancing a few feet behind.
Vandar: "Ahh, it is marvelous."
General Brack gets up out of his seat from a few feet south and right of Vader's position, "Begin deploying stormtrooper squads and scouts to sweep the area. Then I want technicians held on standby as we analyze the structure below."
A few days later, a fleet of Rebel Alliance ships lays wait in outer space. The fleet includes 4 MC80 Mon Calamari Cruisers, 1 MC75 Star Cruiser, and 1 Liberty Class Mon Calamari Cruiser, 6 Marauder Corvettes, 7 Assault Frigate Mark Is, 8 Hammerhead Corvettes, 12 Nebulon b Frigates, 16 Corellian gunships, and 20 Corellian Corvettes.
The Corellian gunships really aren't gunships, they are officially known as DP20 Frigates. They really are a variant of Corellian Covettes that are armed with multiple missile launchers rather than turbolaser batteries. The advantage missiles provide over turbolasers is they have a lock-on ability and are more accurate at far range than turboblaser gunners tend to be.
Despite being an older ship, the Unyielding Hope is the capital ship of this Alliance fleet (known as the 112th fleet). The 112th fleet is particularly one of the largest fleets in the alliance and one of its most powerful. It often consists of 25-30 vessels since having any more than that makes a fleet too risky and open for the Empire to counter.
However, this fleet has briefly merged with several smaller fleets and independent vessels to make up a grand fleet of 85 warships. Despite the number of sheer ships being higher than that of the imperial fleet it looks to engage, the alliance warships are rarely larger than corvettes. Even the Mon Calamari cruisers do not have anything to directly rival a super star destroyer.
Instead, the rebels look to be better overall with a more balanced and well-rounded force. The number of rebels total includes 89,787 personnel with 75,255 of them being navy crew and 14,532 being rebel ground troopers or commandos. This troop count, makes up a smaller percentage of its total force than that of the Empire, UNSC, or Covenant.
The navy crew itself however, does not only include pilots, mechanics, and officers. It also includes medical staff, noncombat droids (such as maintenance, medical, and astromech), and fleet troopers. Fleet troopers are rebel security armed with DH-17 blaster pistols. They wear black, light blue, and grey uniforms with navy blue vests.
These navy troopers also wear white helmets with black centers that somewhat resemble the entirely black helmets imperial navy troopers wear. These soldiers are not as skilled combatants as rebel commandos and most of them have little actual combat experience.
Whereas commandos often fought in rebel cells for several years. Some commandos are former child soldiers, others were mercenaries, a fraction of them were local soldiers or police who defended their worlds during the era of the Republic but were not impressed with the tyrannical government that proceeded it, and a few were even criminals who are looking for a chance to make their lives right.
Some of these commandos had difficult roles being assassins, marauders, spies, saboteurs, hackers, or smugglers on behalf of the Alliance with hopes to erode the Empire in a less conventional fighter. One thing that seemed to motivate the Alliance more so than the other causes was a shared desire for freedom, liberty, and justice.
In the capital ship, several rebel fleet troopers click buttons and type on their computers in a communications room within the vessel. The walls of the ship are white, the floor is grey, and the ceiling is black.
A young rebel lieutenant looks over the trooper's work. The lieutenant has short curly orange hair, fair skin, a beige uniform, dark pink lipstick, a thin build, deep blue eyes, and stands at 5'6 making her slightly tall for a Human female from her universe. She only looks to be in her early twenties.
One of the male workers turns and salutes her while remaining in his seat, "Lieutenant Hunosha, how are you?"
Hunosha: "I am fine, but I was going to ask you the same thing. You look like you're busy, have you discovered any information."
Rebel Operator: "Yes mam, I've detected information on the where abouts of the Imperial 24th Terror Division."
Rebel Operator II: "Don't let the name scare you, the Empire is all smoke and mirrors."
Hunosha: "Well, not entirely, I've read some information that is disturbing about their attempts to take back the recently liberated worlds. And let's just say, we are going to need to keep our momentum coming heavily if we wish to maintain what we have gained."
Rebel Operator: "It seems a leak in their ranks has shared some important information. The fleet is converging on a world that holds the key to a new universe."
Hunosha pauses, she knows the Empire isn't known for speaking poetically except for when they are boasting about their power. Hunosha's eyes widen, "How do they plan on doing that?? Is that all you have?"
Rebel Operator: "At the moment yes, but I have taken a screenshot of the information I received and saved it. I believe from research that I've gained elsewhere and other Imperial reports, that this location is tied to an ancient spiritual passage that force sensitives went to on occasion. But I'm not entirely sure."
Hunosha: "Lend me the data chip, I will share this with command." The rebel does as he is instructor.
Hunosha marches out of the communications room into a hallway where she meets Admiral Pantiro, a Mon Calamari officer. Pantiro stands at 6'2, has red scaly skin, light brown eyes, and is a sentient fish man. Pantiro's uniform is white with beige and light orange markings. Hunosha: "Admiral, I have discovered something proud, one of the grand imperial divisions is being sent to Fuezor II."
Pantiro: "How many sources do you have?"
Hunosha: "Several..."
Pantiro: "Fine, let's have a look at it." The duo step into a private data room where several green lights flicker, and the officer locks the door behind them. The lieutenant enters the device in a computer near them. The aquatic being scans the computer screen vigilantly.
Pantiro: "There is only one direct source, the rest are minor references."
Hunosha: "Hey, you asked how many direct sources, not indirect."
Pantiro sighs, "Do you have to be this difficult? Why are you so keen on showing me this? I can't act without more proof."
Hunosha: "What more proof do you need? We know a major imperial fleet and ground force is there with certainty."
Pantiro: "We don't have the resources to take on a force that size."
Hunosha: "You heard Leia's speech, it is time to take the fight TO THE EMPIRE! We destroyed their most powerful weapon, now the rest is minor in comparison."
Pantiro laughs, "You are young and still have much to learn. We were fortunate with the Death Star, the Empire was arrogant and sent it in alone without a protecting fleet. At this moment, the Empire is not taking us so lightly anymore, they know the Alliance has grown into a serious threat. From this moment, we must expect them to be on their A game."
Pantiro adds, "The Empire, really fights up to its competition. Might I not remind you what they've done to the Wookiees, to Saw Guerra's forces, to the Lasats, and the atrocities they committed at Geonosis. They have a tendency to demolish any major threat that hits them in a direct fight or that can be easily identified. Our strength is in speed, precision, and recon not in what we are doing now."
Hunosha: "But what about what Mon Motha said?! What about the Mid Rim campaign."
Pantiro: "Politically, Mont Motha is inspiring, even brilliant. But militarily, she is a novice. It's a shame political figures are making militaristic suggestions. If you ask me, this whole campaign is a waste of resources. Of course, we will do as we are ordered, and I will try to implement it in a way that is practical."
The admiral continues, "But fighting the Empire head on is not what got the Alliance this far and it is not what will win us this war. Either we kill the Empire piece by piece or it kills itself; but breaking it down with a wrecking ball is not what the Alliance specializes in."
Hunosha: "Maybe not, but no one thought a team of fighters would beat the Death Star head on."
Admiral Pantiro: "Here we go, I've seen what a full-fledged imperial fleet can do in a head on fight! Besides, even if we can beat them, that's not what worries me. I know we can in this case due to the size of our force, but imagine the cost. We must be tactical with our losses and not needlessly run ourselves into mines."
Hunosha: "But the history, the sources, apparently the Jedi and ancient Sith knew about this place. Do you know anything about those groups?"
Pantiro contemplates and remembers how the Mon Calamari joined the war, "Hmm, I know the jedi. Well sort of, there was one that stood by Lee-Char in his fight against the Empire. If it wasn't for him, the Mon Calamari wouldn't have been with the alliance like they are now. But according to the source, even Jedi stayed away from this place."
Hunosha: "Can you have a meeting on it, in honor of the Jedi of the past."
Pantiro sighs. Hunosha: "We should try, trying is what allowed us to avenge Alderaan. A place blown to dust along with 2 billion inhabitants for no good reason. Who knows what the Empire is really planning and allowing them to get away with such an important and ambiguous operation could be our undoing."
The next morning, Pantiro stands in his bridge with several rebel officers huddled around him. Multiple ship captains and commanders from his fleet appear in blue holograms standing across him. Some officers appear in white holograms to indicate they are other admirals from different fleets. One of them, is Admiral Ackbar himself.
Pantiro: "Welcome, I shared with you all the files that I recently receive."
Young Male Captain: "And what do you expect us to do? Fight them head on, what we have dozens of new worlds to protect. The Empire has already taken many of the planets back, over a dozen in two weeks!! We have lost nearly half our gains in record time."
Pantiro: "If you remember what I said before this offense, the Empire tends to make a purpose to take back what it loses and to punish whoever is responsible gruesomely."
Male Bothan Captain: "We are swiftly increasing our arms to make for better defenses. We also are constructing more surface ion cannons, shield generators, and heavy turbolasers to clap back against their fleets. If we can make their losses immense, taking planets will not be worth it."
Pantiro: "The Empire is incredibly stubborn and loves to waste money so you will need to repeat that process quite a few times."
Elderly Female Admiral: "Let us not deviate from our course. While what we are doing may seem impractical to you, what you are suggesting is even more ludicrous. We have a war going on and sending one of our biggest fleets on an operation that does not involve the acquisition or defense of worlds could cripple our Mid Rim offensive."
Pantiro: "Cripple? It's already crippled and was flawed from the start. The key to winning this war, isn't snatching planets from the Empire. The key, is working with spies, saboteurs, thieves, and whatnot to rot the Empire from within. Focus on their inequality, racism, and attack the crazy inventions they go after which could potentially take us out of the equation altogether."
Pantiro highlights, "Our greatest victory thus far, was the Destruction of the Death. Most of our other victories like the obtainment of the Mon Cala fleet, the use of X-Wings, and the liberation of Lothal were from strategic moves and not direct head-on fights. When we did save worlds, it was from wearing down places the Empire thought were unimportant over time, and attacking economic centers."
Pantiro: "When that Death Star fell, all the credits the Empire shelled into it were lost. A chunk of the Empire's GDP went down into the toilet. Despite this, the Empire is spending tons of revenue again, they never learn but it will catch up to them." Hunosha looks up in admiration as she listens to her commanding officer speak.
Pantiro: "If we smash this division and their hopes of whatever is out there, we will set them back for good. Because you all know that while the Empire is frivolous, it only wastes its money on useful things. Even outside the force, several of the most gifted imperial officers, soldiers, and special forces exist in these imperial divisions."
Admiral Ackbar: "And yet YOU, doubt our ability to stop such divisions in defensive measures. Why do you believe you can beat them now?"
Pantiro: "Because this matter is bigger than our insights Ackbar, this is a matter of the force. This is a world the Jedi spoke of."
Ackbar: "Frezor II is a world even the Jedi avoided as well as the Sith according to your own report. I don't know much about the Sith myself, but I know the Jedi are trusted friends as well as you."
Pantiro: "And if they avoided it, perhaps that was for good reason. Which is why we should keep the Empire out of it."
Ackbar: "Maybe they will find that out on their own."
Captain Rokon of the Unfettered Residuum (a Nebulon-B Frigate) steps forward. He is a Human with thick dark brown straight hair, yellow skin, dark brown eyes, a thin mustache, a light brown uniform with light green markings, and a copper-colored belt.
Rokon comments, "The Jedi avoided that area because it was meant to be respected as a land not traveled or meant for the one's within this universe. The Jedi believed in following in line with their place and position; not being too greedy with extra schemes for power. The Sith apparently tried to reach it once, but the Jedi stopped them and destroyed all evidence of the route."
A Kel Dor captain asks, "How do you know that?"
Rokon: "I've done extensive research on these matters, and I can share sources that might convince you all of otherwise." An unexplainable calm enters the room.
Pantiro: "I think he is right, allow us a moment to look over the sources before we make a decision."
Ackbar nods, "Agreed." The holograms stop and the officers return to their rooms for bed. A few other officers are placed on watch duty at the bridge. The next morning, the officers read Rokon's sources which are unexpectedly convincing and informative.
Later that morning, the officers again. Pantiro stands in his position as he watches the others in holographic form.
Ackbar: "Alright Pantiro, you're on and approved for your search. Rokon, you are part of his fleet so if you have any other useful information, do not hesitate to share it with him. As you all should now know, Darth Vader himself is accompanying this fleet along with several key figures."
Ackbar continues, "This may be our only chance to stop them as these imperials may have so long-lost friends stuck in another universe. Names include several imperials who were lost after passing the edges of the Unknown Regions on strange voyages, including a few prized fleets and research expeditionists. Moreso, it might contain the key to Grand Admiral Thrawn, who went missing some time ago. The fate of liberty rest on your shoulders so as my friend Pantiro has said, may the force be with you all."
Pantiro salutes him. Ackbar salutes back and the holograms fade. Hunosha screams in excitement and several of the rebel officers clap. Pantiro: "What are you idiots clapping for? This is a dangerous mission..."
Rebel Sullustan Officer: "Hehe, mock baaa!!"
Pantiro points, "No! Absolutely not."
Hunosha: "Hey don't feel too grumpy about it Pantiro, this is our chance to make history and shut down one of the Empire's greatest divisions."
Pantiro sighs, "Oh, I have a bad feeling about this."
Hunosha: "Then cancel that out with positive thoughts."
Pantiro: "That's not how it works, oh screw it. Andro (pointing at the Sullustan), calibrate our systems. Zinuco (pointing at a Gran officer), set all power to the engines and send a message for the entire fleet to follow suit. We need to get to those imperials as fast as possible but send out an alert when they are within tracking range. Hunosha, relay a message to the fuel workers and gunners to have everything in top condition."
Officers and fleet personnel work tirelessly as they get the ship in prime condition. Pantiro: "Set the ship to hyperspace, we should be there in less than four days, if you all hustle!"
