Cherry stared at him in disbelief. She was too shocked to say anything. Jinhyun did not flinch and kept on looking at her without any hesitation. It was obvious that she already knew about how he felt but by saying it out loud, he was also forcing her to confront her own feelings for him.

"Why?" she finally asked. "Why are you making all this so complicated?"

"It's not complicated!" he exclaimed. "It doesn't have to be! Once we catch the stalker, we can evaluate what to do about us. I know you feel the sam-"

"I don't," Cherry said aloud. She looked directly at him in the eye, not wavering. It took her entire willpower not to falter under his gaze but he was unmoved.

"I feel nothing for you," she claimed. "You're nothing to me! So stop harboring fantasies and go towards your fate. You and I aren't supposed to be together. If you really want to help me like you claim to, then you'd choose the one who is truly made for you."
