Jacob's POV:
I heard her calling my name, her voice filled with intensity, eagerness, and a hint of shakiness that unmistakably conveyed her joy at hearing from me. She seemed hopeful that I would come to her aid. However, I didn't want to care for her. I didn't want to be affected by whatever Neil might be doing to her. I didn't want to concern myself with her well-being. However, when I heard her cry, my heart skipped a beat for a moment. I was in the car with Enzo, heading to places where we suspected Neil might be keeping Allison, and I couldn't bring myself to respond to her. It struck me that just a few days earlier, I, myself was the one who tortured her, hurt her and made her cry. Yet now, when someone else was doing the same, I was bothered.
"Jacob, please!" She cried again when I couldn't answer the first time.
Taking a breath and shutting my eyes for a second, I began, "Wesley,"
