章 76: Rally

The Princess sprinted towards her room, running away from the nameless fiend. He had absolutely destroyed one of her most powerful attacks, making it disappear like it was child's play! She had no chance against him! She quickly changed from her pyjamas, which she had been wearing, as she was taking a nap, into some adventuring gear she had bought in the market, along with one of her favourite weapons, a longsword made of orichalcum, a material which was many times harder than pure diamonds and had the ability to cut through most physical types of Ki. It had cost her a large amount of money, but it was one of the best things she had ever spent her money on. The king, or well, ex-king, and queen didn't know that she spent her free time taking up quests as an anonymous adventurer. She didn't want to be one of those princesses that needed saving all of the time.

She ran out of the castle, wearing a dark red cape and a strangely carved mask. It was just an oval mask that had strange lines on them. She didn't know what they meant, but they looked cool, so she got it for herself. Her feet pelted against the stones that made up the bridge between the castle and the mainland, for a moat was beneath this bridge. It was home to a deadly group of piranhas, who tended to destroy any flesh that they could get their hands on. Truly vicious animals. The princess had to be cautious while on the bridge so that she didn't fall. It would be a very painful death if she did.

She successfully crossed the bridge and looked in the nearby stables for her horse, yet it was nowhere to be found. She cursed at nobody in particular but decided that she would run towards the nearest town, where the adventurer's guild was located. She needed to announce to the public what was happening, and what was needed to be done. After a few minutes of straight running, however, she had gotten tired. Her horse would have been really useful right now. She decided to jog for as long as possible, but when she couldn't jog any longer, she continued towards the town by walking. She needed to get there as quickly as possible, but the human body can only do so much.

After three hours of alternating between running, jogging and walking, she had finally reached the city, and was, at first, relieved, as this meant she could finally get a rest, but then, she remembered what she was there for, and in a panic, began sprinting towards the local guild, where adventures of all types would gather, from the lowest of adventures to adventurers who possessed the power to destroy towns. Nobody had the power to destroy cities, however, as that was all in the realm of fantasy. Although, from what she had seen, there was something new on the block, and it was going to shock the world.

Also, what did adventurers in this world hunt? Well, they DID hunt monsters, but nothing like Aaron. Just monsters like Ice Wolves, who were pretty self-explanatory, and Dark Elves, who were basically the more violent cousins of the normal elves, who were simply left alone, as they were sentient and peaceful.

She burst into the guild, slamming the doors open with both hands, letting them bounce off the wall, ignoring all the greetings from her fellow adventurers, and rushing towards the counter. There, she encountered one of the employees working for the guild, one of those peaceful elves, who she had forgotten the name of. "Ah, the diamond class adventurer, Luna 'Blast' Goodman! What can we do for you?" The elf asked.

"Listen, this isn't a joke. The king is dead, and an unknown monster has taken over the kings castle, with the queen as a hostage." Luna whispered to the elf. Luna was her actual name, but Goodman was just a fake name she had come up with. The royal family name, which was Freelay, was well-known, and she didn't want to be found out as a princess. They get special privileges in the guild, and she didn't want that. She wanted to be treated like a normal person, which is why she had the robe and the mask to protect her face.

"Woah! Blast, do you realise the implications and consequences of what you just said?! If this turns out to be false, you'll be executed!" The elf replied, wondering who in their right mind would say something so outrageous. "Of course I do, and I saw it for myself. The monster complete extinguished one of my attacks like it was nothing! I was absolutely powerless against it." Luna admitted as she looked down at her hands, almost like she was judging herself for not being strong enough. The elf looked sorry for the poor adventurer and decided to take this seriously. "Alright. If it's coming from a diamond class adventurer, we can't ignore it. I'll put out an announcement on your behalf, and we'll try to get as many high powered adventurers to help you. Maybe some from the city could help. Powerful people like the Stones could help us out." The elf responded, moving away from Luna, and going to a device that they used to send out adventuring requests.

The differences between towns and cities in this world was like night and day. The cities were advanced, yet the countryside and towns took on a more fantasy-style aesthetic. It was just something that they did, and it had become something natural, even when compared to the cities. They just needed to reach the Stones, as they were by far some of the most powerful people on the face of this planet.

Little did anyone else know that the monster in question was the child of the Stones, and he was one happy chap at the moment. He may not exactly know what was going on, but he could take an educated guess, and he was smiling the smile of a monster.

For he was one, after all.
