Chapter 48: A Fist That Hits Hard, and a Wand That's Not Weak Either
Snape left the tearful Malfoy behind and headed toward the first-year dormitory. Goyle and Crabbe had just changed their clothes when Snape dragged them out for questioning.
Upon receiving confirmation, Snape, filled with suspicion, made his way to Chu Yang's room.
Malfoy and his two cronies followed closely behind Snape.
Snape forcefully pushed open the door and looked around, finding no signs of damage anywhere.
Chu Yang, just stepping out of the bathroom, saw Snape with a frosty expression and a pitiful-looking Malfoy behind him.
Chu Yang smiled and said, "Good morning, Professor Snape. What brings you here so early?"
Snape took a deep breath, not bringing up the issue of the bookmark, but instead asked, "Mr. Malfoy is your roommate, but he slept in the common room last night. Would you care to explain that?"
Chu Yang quickly glanced at Malfoy and his friends before feigning surprise. "Malfoy slept in the common room last night?"
His face showed a look of regret, and his tone carried an air of apology. "I went to bed early last night. When Malfoy and the others came back, they woke me up, and I complained a bit. Perhaps that's why he decided to sleep in the common room."
Chu Yang looked at Malfoy with a smile. "I'm truly sorry, Malfoy."
Malfoy felt a chill run down his spine.
"But, if I recall correctly, I did invite you to stay and rest, didn't I?" Chu Yang said sincerely, staring at Malfoy and his friends.
Goyle and Crabbe nodded instinctively. Chu Yang wasn't lying; he had indeed invited Malfoy to stay last night, but Malfoy was too scared and ran off instead.
Snape, now having understood the situation, glared coldly at Malfoy. "Mr. Malfoy, I despise liars. Your actions today will be reported to your father."
Malfoy let out a miserable cry.
The highest form of lying is to mix up the truth, twist it a little, and present it as fact.
Chu Yang smiled contentedly, but to Goyle and Crabbe, his smile was that of a devil.
"Get to class!" Snape shouted angrily, causing Malfoy and his friends to scramble out of the dormitory.
Before leaving, Snape gave Chu Yang a deep look.
He knew the situation wasn't as simple as Chu Yang had made it seem, but since there were no visible flaws, he saw no need to pursue it further.
As for Malfoy, Snape's anger toward him was purely due to his stupidity.
If arrogance doesn't match one's abilities, it's nothing more than foolishness.
Chu Yang, knowing Snape's temper, understood from his reaction that the matter was now closed.
This morning, the first thing Chu Yang did was erase all traces of last night's incident.
After removing the bookmark, he used the Mending Charm to restore everything.
Snape likely couldn't fathom how a first-year student could be so adept at casting spells.
After Snape and Malfoy's group left the dormitory, Chu Yang leisurely packed his things and headed out. As soon as he stepped into the common room, a group of older students blocked his way.
"Hey, kid. I heard you knocked down quite a few classmates the other night. The things you learned in the Muggle world won't always work here," said a tall older student, glaring down at Chu Yang.
Chu Yang politely smiled. "It worked the other night, though, didn't it?"
The tall older student's anger flared at Chu Yang's response. He hadn't expected a first-year to dare talk back like that.
"Harper!" A tall, lanky boy with long curly hair reached out to stop the furious older student. "We're wizards, not Muggle street thugs. We have our own ways of handling things."
Harper, the burly student, reluctantly stepped back a few paces, suppressing his anger. "You're right, Marcus."
As they spoke, Marcus, the lanky boy, pulled out his wand from his robe and pointed it at Chu Yang. "Do you have any idea how many points our house lost because of you? And it's only the start of the term!"
Seeing the wand, Chu Yang's polite smile vanished, replaced by a stern expression. "First of all, I've already earned back the points Slytherin lost. Secondly, are you sure you want to do this? Do you have the courage to face all the consequences?"
"Courage?" Marcus chuckled mockingly. "Courage isn't exclusive to Gryffindors. Slytherin has never lacked it."
As the two faced off, another older student with a commanding presence walked down the spiral staircase. Head held high, he approached the two and said, "Marcus, don't go too far. Otherwise, I'll have a hard time explaining this to the school. It's my last year here, and I don't want any blemishes on my record."
"No problem, prefect. I'll just use a simple Petrification Spell and leave him in the common room all day," Marcus replied respectfully.
The prefect cast a cold glance at Chu Yang before walking away without looking back.
Dealing with a non-pureblood wizard in Slytherin wasn't a big deal, after all.
They had wanted to take care of Chu Yang the previous night, but since he had changed dorms, they couldn't find him.
Who would've thought that an orphan like Chu Yang could get a double room?
Students continued passing by Chu Yang, their expressions indifferent.
No one here cared about his fate...
"Slytherin is truly a wonderful place. I'm liking it more and more," Chu Yang muttered with a dangerous glint in his eyes as his lips curled into a smile.
"I'm going to show you that fists are useless to wizards!" Marcus flicked his wand and muttered a spell. His casting speed was incredibly fast, completing the motion in under two seconds.
The tip of Marcus's wand glowed faintly.
With a powerful swing, the spell shot toward Chu Yang like a bolt of lightning.
Chu Yang dodged to the side, even twisting his waist slightly, warming up as he mockingly said, "Not bad. You must use that spell a lot, huh? But you're too slow. Even my neighbor's granny is quicker than you."
"Is this the wizard way? It's not nearly as effective as a Muggle fist."
Chu Yang's words might not have had much physical impact, but they were incredibly insulting. The onlookers burst into laughter, and Marcus's face visibly reddened. He raised his wand, ready to cast a more powerful spell.
All notions of restraint were gone; Marcus, humiliated, just wanted to take down Chu Yang.
"Confringo!"
Marcus cast the Blasting Curse!
Unfortunately for him, Chu Yang, with his mastery of Observation Haki, had already drawn his own wand and cast a spell before Marcus even finished his incantation.
"Expelliarmus!"
Disarming Charm!
A flash of light shot from Chu Yang's wand, accurately striking Marcus's wand and knocking it away.
The laughter in the common room abruptly ceased as everyone stared in shock at this first-year who had just caused such an uproar.
Clearly, this was not the outcome they had expected.
