26: Hostage
Anyra
I stare at my silvery eyes in the bathroom mirror. They seem so different from my normal brown eyes. It’s strange to look in the mirror and almost see another person staring back at me.
I scowl at the reflection, loathing the meaning behind those eyes.
My mother had told me that when a shifter changes, their eyes change with them, signifying what station they hold in the pack. While the rest of me had returned to the way I was before, my eyes had not.
My mother’s eyes are green because she’s the mate of an alpha, the luna, even though she separated herself from the pack. Before, hers were a shade of brown similar to mine.
Mine are now an alpha’s eyes, eyes that should not belong to me. They are my father’s eyes.
I flick the bathroom light off, not wanting to look at myself any longer.
