章 5: Luminary of the stars

I had found myself in a space between dream and reality. It was an endless black void illuminated by a myriad of stars. Between those stars, countless strings of silver light were woven into a beautiful and inconceivably complex net, forming various nexuses and constellations. It was brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
I understood that I was inside the nightmare spell and I just couldn't help but admire it, how could anyone make something so beautiful and complex?
In the middle of admiring, I received a memory.

I felt delighted, this was my first memory and considering the earlier message about how I slayed a great tyrant it should be at the level of supreme rank, as a sleeper having a memory of that rank would be of great help in the dream realm.
I wanted to take a look at the memory but the spell was done with it's appraisal.
In the void, the voice of the spell sounded like the very universe speaking to me. I held my breath and listened.

The praise made me satisfied. Sunny had also received a 'glorious' appraisal in his first nightmare, meaning my chances of having a divine rank aspect were high—very high.

I couldn't stop smiling. This was it.

If anyone could see me now, they'd think I was mad. I'd never been this happy in my life. A true name, in the beginning It's just a title but later on in the story it was very important.
But that wasn't all.

I couldn't hold back my excitement and yelled, "Of course!"

'sacred…It's sacred?'
I was stunned. Sacred rank was amazing, but wasn't it strange? I had killed a great tyrant as a dormant human—sure, with the help of some ancient sorcery—but I had done it. Even Sunny hadn't done that in his first nightmare. Why did he get a divine aspect while I got sacred?
'No, no, calm down, there's nothing you can do about it.' I calmed myself down while also summoning the runes of my aspect.

'It's not the divine rank aspect I hoped for, but it was still good.' if I remember correctly, people with ascended rank aspect were already fought over for by various organizations so if I reveal my aspect rank I would basically be welcomed anywhere.
'That innate ability description... Does it mean I have an innate sense of where I need to go? It's a bit confusing, but I'll figure it out later.'
The spell begane to speak again:

[Awakening dormant powers...]
I felt something awakening inside me
I clutched my chest and looked into the darkness, trying to understand what was going on. it wasn't painful or unpleasant, yet it was like nothing I had ever experienced. It felt like I was being infused with some new energy.
the energy didn't come from the nightmare spell, no , it came from within, as though it has always been there, sleeping.
the energy filled every fiber of my being. I felt my thoughts becoming clearer and sharper. then my body began to change, too. I felt a miniature star burning in the center of my chest: waves of heat radiating from it, slowly reaching my stomach and shoulders, then my arms and legs, then my hands and feet.
under the heat, I felt my bones, muscles, organs and blood vessels being rebuilt. I felt like I was being reborn. becoming faster, stronger and healthier.
it was euphoric.
but after some time, the star burning in my chest finally settled down replaced by soothing cold. that coldness washed over my body, then it moved up, reached my brain and, finally, my eyes.
my vision doubled.
I could still see the void populated by an endless amount of stars. but I could also see something different.
A serene ocean with shimmering silver-blue water. Above, stars shine softly, and a radiant blue moon flashed with light. Mist drifted across the surface, and constellations keep on shifting endlessly.
'beautiful'
I took a closer look at the blue moon—it wasn't like the one on Earth. It was smooth, without any craters, and bathed in an otherworldly glow.
As I gazed at the stars, an unsettling feeling washed over me, like I was being watched.
I didn't want to waste any more time on it. This was my soul sea—no one could be here except for me, and maybe one other person. But he was sealed in the dream realm, so it couldn't be him.
I turned back towards the blue moon and spotted an orb of light orbiting around it, as though caught in the soul core's gravity. that was my memory, scribe's book. later on there would be dozens, if not hundreds of such orbs floating around.
the spell's voice pulled me out of the soul sea.
