I didn't turn to face him, as I started climbing down the stairs until I got to the bottom.

This place was pretty neat and well-kept compared to what an abandoned place should be like.

Could it be that the devil has been keeping this place neat? Maybe, he's a sadistic man who always hangs his trophies (skulls) on the wall.
