章 2: The Power Of ...

The lady smiled as she exaggeratedly arched her body, in a slow and seductive movement, so that her bosoms leaned on the window pane of Carson's car -- almost crossing over the poor window.

"You look tensed," she said, her facial muscles moving, an indication that she wasn't totally in control and was under some kind of influence. "I could relieve that tension for just a few bucks," she finished with a wink and another move of her body akin to that of a snake.

That was when it all occurred to Carson as realization dawned on him instantly. How could he have been so ignorant of what was happening? Carson Garner chuckled a little even though the slight laughter didn't show in his hard, sea-green eyes. Now, he knew what was going on at that moment.

He became quickly irritated, especially at the fact that he had caught unto the matter rather late. Carson secretly blamed his state of mind. He wasn't focused and had stopped by for some druggie along the way. What was he even doing there? he wondered. So, Carson went ahead to touch a button that was on his steering wheel. Then, the window that the lady was leaning into began to go up slowly. Even with his slight annoyance within Carson, he still didn't want to cause injury to the woman. However, his facial expression didn't show that -- it reflected the want to cause harm to the intruder.

"Hey!" the lady shouted as she slammed unto the side of Carson's car. "Don't be so rude about it, Mister high and mighty," she finished with a sneer which was followed by a smack of the large gum that was in her mouth -- a gum that seemed like she had put a whole pack of ten into her mouth at once.

Carson almost gagged and then zoomed off.

'A red light zone,' he thought to himself as he continued to drive down the same street -- just moving forward -- taking no right or left turns. He knew that he wasn't supposed to be there but it was what it was -- he was there and Carson didn't even know why. What if one of those bloggers saw him? He could already imagine the captions they'd use for the news and the comments that would follow. Out of custom, Carson thought about the comments that would be under such a post.

'Most men would support me,' Carson thought as a wry smile appeared on his lips, his shoulders seeming more square and poised than usual.

His mind drifted to the lady that he's just seen. There was no doubt that she was beautiful and Carson couldn't help but wonder what got her to where she was. He could smell that it'd been days since she had her bath and that made him shift uncomfortably in his chair. Carson was picky to a fault. Even exotic girls that his wealthy friends arranged for him were often rejected by him. Somehow, they weren't just to his taste.

At the next moment, a building that was on the left side of the road, after driving for almost ten minutes, caught his eye. It was creatively decorated with red, thin lights, which had been used to write something that Carson guessed was the name of the place.

Arcane, it read.

And a decision was made right there and then. He was going to go into that place. It looked interesting even though he didn't know what exactly went on there. It would be Carson's first time that he'd go into such an establishment.

"Can't be more than a bar, right?" Carson murmured to himself as he parked his car some distance away from the place.

Just as he was straightening his well-tailored suit, one of the large guys standing in front of the place walked up to him.

Carson had already seen them -- they were about four of those kinds of well-muscled men but that was no trouble for Carson. There was nowhere money couldn't get you into, he would often think to himself.

"We do not see these kinds of cars often around here," the man said with his large arms hanging at his sides.

"First time," Carson replied curtly. Then something occurred to him. He dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out a wad of cash, pulling out four notes of hundred dollar bills.

"Keep an eye on the car for me, would you?" Carson asked, no expression whatsoever on his face. There were important things in the car, things that he didn't want to carry with him into the 'bar'. Carson knew they were safer in his car. However, now that he'd given the man cash to keep watch, Carson heavily doubted that any foul play would occur.

Money bought people. It bought loyalty. It bought love -- and that was the major reason that Carson didn't trust any woman. What else would she want asides from his money? What else would she want asides to stand beside him in photos that appear in Business Monthly -- a magazine that covered owners of companies and the like -- fame.

He was the most known bachelor and had received several proposals from ladies -- and even men. But Carson had a darkness in his soul that made him akin to a recluse.

The security man seemed to be shocked. There was something about this man. Yes, he was rich but there was something else that the security guard couldn't place his hands on. He stretched out his hand and collected the money from the important-looking man -- a man who commanded respect without even asking for it -- or so he thought. The bouncer was sure that the man hadn't been to this place before and a sly smile appeared on his lips. It was as if he knew that the man's life wouldn't remain the same after that visit.

Carson walked into the place as the men guarding the entrance of the place stepped aside for him to pass through.

But what Carson Garner saw was not what he was expecting at all.
