章 47: Fourty-Seven

The guards all rushed around and opened all the crates and sacs. There had been two wagons carrying us, and now every child was free. All of them were being asked if they were hurt, or who their parents were. Some people offered to take them in if they didn't have families, but most kids just clung to one another and cried in relief and happiness of being free.

"Oi! How'd it go?" I saw a bird brain call to the man, and he sighed. He didn't bother to turn and simply replied.

"Twenty-Seven children were kidnapped. Only one was injured." His voice was layered with an emotion I couldn't identify. I simply looked up at him silently and he sighed.

"Twenty-Seven? Did a girl matching the description I gave you appear?" His voice got anxious as he proceeded towards us. I was out of his view so I observed him carefully as he proceeded towards us.

"Yes she did." At those words bird brains face lit up and darkened almost immediately.

"Where is she? I don't see her, if this is a joke this isn't funny. Everyone's been going mad at the palace trying to find leads to find her, I think the king almost killed the first prince for dragging her along again, plus almost getting himself killed or kidnapped... Well needless to say it's bad. Where is she?" The man carrying me finally turned to face him and I buried my head in the man's chest as he did so and feigned unconsciousness. I heard a horrified gasp, and then hurried footsteps.

"Hand her over, I'll run her to the palace, damn the King's going to slaughter people! No, well not if Nightshade does first..." I felt myself be handed over, and one of them touched my back, where one of my ribs was probably broken. I cried in agony and the movements got quicker and I was rapidly in Ravens arms, and felt him moving quickly as he tried not to jostle me too much. I felt sick from the pain and I started to doze. Before I knew it we were at the gates, and Raven ran straight towards the palace, running past the King and straight to the magical Infirmary. My mom can do some great work, but for wounds like this magic was always best. I didn't remain conscious past the grand stairs, I just couldn't. The only reason I hadn't passed out yet was because of the fact that I was terrified of going into shock.
