The oppressive silence was shattered by a guttural bellow that reverberated through the cavernous chamber, shaking loose a fine mist of moisture from the moss-covered walls.

Julia tightened her grip on her warhammer, her gaze sweeping the gloomy expanse as they ventured deeper into the lair.

Ahead, something shifted in the shadows. A hulking shape that seemed to undulate and writhe, trailing tendrils of viscous ooze in its wake. As it lurched into the feeble light filtering through the cracks in the ceiling, the creature's true form was laid bare.

A nightmarish amalgamation of rotting vegetation and dripping slime, it towered above them, rows of jagged fangs protruding from a gaping maw that pulsed with an unsettling rhythm. Clusters of beady eyes blinked from stalks that whipped through the air, scanning the intruders with a primal hunger. 

None of them had any clue what this thing could even be called.
