Her shrill scream echoed through the air, jolting her mother and almost everyone else awake from their sleep and slumber.
Hajiya Fatima made religious exclamations and discovered that her husband, was also awake and looked really confused.
"Did you hear what I heard?" He inquired.
“Yes. Petra was the one that screamed, that's her voice." She said this as she jumped off the bed and dashed out of the room, followed by her husband.
They rushed to her room, where they discovered her on the floor, screaming and crying profusely.
“Petra!” Hajiya Fatima yelled and knelt over her, raising her head and clasping her hands.
"Tell me, what actually happened? Did you trip and fall? "Are you sick, or is this a dream?" Alhaji Usman stood with his arms akimbo, looking for signs of violence, a break-in, or blood.
Petra was still agitated, unable to believe Justin had died and left her. He promised to stay alive and not leave her in this world.
No! He said he was going to wear a suit to her graduation, that they were going to marry soon, and that he was going to study computer science at Nasarawa, but now he was gone!
Hajiya had to work hard to console her, reminding her to recite salat and put her trust in Allah.
"What occurred?" Hajiya inquired. "Justin has left me. He is no longer alive."
Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un (We came from God and will return to Him)!
"When and how?" Alhaji Usman was at ease. He mistook it for something more serious. He didn't want Justin dead, but having him dead was no big deal because he was distracting and hypnotizing his daughter.

She was practically obsessed with him. "Everyone, please calm down." Bas said as she walked in holding a gun. Then came Kacha and Daxy.
They were all wearing face masks to conceal their identities. "If you behave well, we will not harm anyone." Your security guard must have taken kura di nunu because he's dozing like a stuffed python."
"It's called fura da nono." Kacha reprimanded her. " Okay, everyone, good morning."
Alhaji Usman's heart was shocked, and his blood pressure began to rise. Robbers with guns! "Please do not injure us!" Alhaji begged with trepidation.
"If you want money, I'll give it to you." "My wife owns gold..." He said.
"Alhaji Usman, we're not interested in any of those things you mentioned!" Bas then turned to face Petra. "All we need is the PDA a Petra and we will leave you all in peace. Your family and you will be safe."
"You killed him!" You murdered him!!" Petra yelled with anger written all over her face.
"We didn't do it." Kacha stated. "However, all we need now is the PDA."
"Then you must know those who killed him," Petra questioned.
"It is not our concern." "There was no reason for us to kill him." Kacha responded.
"What exactly is going on here?" Do you know who they are, Petra? Give them what they desire!" Alhaji Usman exhaled a sigh of relief.
"If anything happens to me, destroy this PDA," she remembered Justin words.
"I'm afraid I don't have it." She had lied. "I don't have a PDA." "I own a smartphone."
"We're refering to the special PDA. No other mobile device or smartphone can do what it does. Justin made changes to it. It's here; we tracked it down." Kacha stated.
"Look around the room." Kacha instructed. Bas, who was impatient, said it all at once while keeping her gun on them. "Do it right away!" Daxy leapt into action.
Petra knew it would only be a matter of time before they discovered where she had kept it. No! Justin warned her, but she was too confused and upset to destroy it right away; after all, she never expected anyone to find it here.
“Bingo!” Daxy said, smiling. "A genius' incredible PDA is here with us." Kacha began to tremble with delight. He couldn't believe his good fortune. This was the amazing PDA Justin made.
He was aware that it would be encrypted and that they would be unable to use it. Justin was far too clever to have left it open. But there was a potential solution. He looked at Petra.
"Now you must clearly show us how to use it or else......" He gave an evil grin. "Your parents will perish right now!" “Subahanallah!” Alhaji Usman yelled.
"Petra darling, I know you're a teacher. Teach them and you will be blessed. I wish Justin was still alive because I would have blessed your marriage. "Instruct them please."
"He didn't want anyone to have it," Petra sobbed. That device can be extremely dangerous when it falls in the wrong hands." She stated.
"No, it is not." her father responded. "These are good children. They are extremely polite and respectful. "please go ahead and Instruct them."
"Father and Ummi, I love you." She said this as she stood up. "This was not something Justin wanted."
"Justin was insane." Kacha stated. "His past had made him paranoid. I was his mentor and assistant."
Petra approached Daxy, who was holding the PDA. She caught everyone off guard. She grabbed it and bolted out of the room. Bas didn't think twice about firing a shot at her, which she missed.
Hajiya Fatima yelled. “Bas!” Kacha yelled. "She's the only one who understands how to use it." We're done if you kill her."
"Then let us go get the girl!" Bas yelled and dashed after her. "We'd bring her with us." Kacha said as he chased her down. Daxy chased after him. They needed to find her.
"Did Petra just try to kill us to fulfill Justin's wish?" Alhaji Usman was perplexed at the action of her daughter.
"Did you not notice that she was being shot at? She made the ultimate sacrifice. There must be something more profound than we realize."
"Are you now supporting her actions? How much does the PDA cost? I can purchase a stock in the company." She sighed.
"They're attempting to take our daughter." She said this as she exited the room. Bas smirked! Where had she gone? She took a breather and looked around the compound.
She couldn't get away from them. Never! She then frowned. "What ?" Kacha, who was standing behind her, inquired.
"I think I smell something." Bas stated. "I do smell it as well." Then they noticed it. A car was engulfed in flames. “Nooooo!” Bas yelled.
"What?" Kacha inquired. “
She must have lit a fire with a car gas lighter!!!"
“Jeeeeezzz!” As they ran to the car, Kacha screamed. Petra was hidden beneath another car a few hundred yards away. She hoped the PDA would be completely burned down.
Hajiya Fatima had already dialed the cops. "We must leave immediately!" Kacha stated. He could feel tears welling up in his eyes. And Justin was no longer alive! The PDA has vanished! He could feel Justin's departure now."
Petra emerged from hiding after they had left. She wiped her tears away. "I don't believe you abandoned me," she said.
"I dont give a damn what I saw! I'll search for you Justin and wait for you. Hayati, you must be alive. You must return to me." She burst into tears.

"You screwed up, Addy!" Dr. Abbas stated.
"Do you mean this because he's your son?" Addy was charged. "Are you starting to get sentimental?"
"Stop talking! "Family supercedes relative." "Does that make any sense?" I did not mean biological family when I said "family."
I'm not worried about him as a person, but about what he stood for. We required him. Do you understand why he is the way he is? Did you not realize he was the brains behind the unusual hacking?
Did you ever wonder how he was able to secure his hotel room using such sophisticated technological methods? "Can't you remember what he was building when he was six?"
"Now, you are trying to make me look stupid." "Shut up, I'm sick of your thick wittedness." Justin was not chosen from the trash...' "I already knew that. He is your real son. "Wasn't it me who was picked from the trash?"
“No. You were not handpicked from the trash." He stated. "Justin was born in the United States of America, in the state of California. Everything started two weeks after he was born. I was in the United States at the time, leaping between the country USA and Bolivia.
Today I'll tell you who your true parents are. Belva Cane was the first to notice it." "What did you notice?" "That's what I'd like to explain......."

3 YEARS LATER
PETRA'S GRADUATION DAY....
***********************************
The atmosphere was a boiling pot of exhilaration, fulfillment, hope, and celebration. The official ceremony was over, and parents rejoiced because the day they had been waiting for had arrived: graduation day.
The graduates wore smiles, bliss conspicuously splashed on their faces, as they hugged and snapped photos of each other. They had earned their happiness.
Years of stress, academic vicissitudes, some heartbreaking lecturers who cherished suffering students, sleepless nights, money spent, marriage postponements by some parents, and fear had finally come to an end. They had completed their studies.
A group of girls were taken photographs, amid jokes and persiflage, when one of them walked silently, sequestered herself, sat on a culvert, and buried her face in her palms.
Justin has been gone for three years. Three years of unbearable agony. She had tried to move on, but he would not leave her mind.
Her mother had assisted in organizing a search party, and the riverbank was searched, with locals asked if they saw any dead bodies or survivors. Nothing was seen. They searched for a long time before giving up.
She now understood why Justin withheld information from her. With her father's permission, a group of people came and interrogated her, using a lie detector machine and some experts.
She would not have been able to conceal the truth if Justin had told her the details.
They were interested in what she knew about the waves, the source, and the microchip era.
Life has never been the same since. She pretended to move on, but she couldn't stop thinking about him. She recalled his words,"
Except for you, I have no one to pray for me. Please keep me in your prayers." And she never did salat(prayer) without doing so. Her graduation was today.
