章 26: Chapter Twenty Six
"Sylvia, you need to see what Albert your son did to my daughter today, he almost forced words out of her throat by choking her, she almost talked if not that I intervened" Hilda said and Madam Sylvia stood up in shock
"What" Madam Sylvia asked
"Just don't worry, the secret is still safe" Hilda said
"You know what, tell Valerie to see me in my house tommorow" Madam Sylvia said before hanging up.
"I have to move fast" she thought.
The next day, Vina came into the house with two pack of noodles and one juice, she successfully took it out of a store and luckily she wasn't caught.
She dropped them on the table and tears came out of her eyes
"I hate living like this, no one even wants to offer me a job, am I cursed? ' she thought wiping the tears
"Yes I'm cursed" she said sitting down and looked inside the wallet she has with her. Albert's wallet, the one she stole from him at the bar then she smiled when she remembered that night.
"I wonder what he'll think of me now, he helped me and I ended up magneting him" Vina thought.
The wallet is now empty, she payed a month rent for the house they're in already.
She has been eating with it as well and buying other necessities but it got exhausted yesterday and she has no choice but to start her magnet job again.
She stood and went to the kitchen to prepare the noodles she magneted.
That same day Valerie went to Madam Sylvia's mansion and she was already waiting for her.
"Daughter in-law, your mum told me everything and I'm sorry, I'll teach Albert a lesson" she said, guiding Valerie to sit.
"My neck still hurts" Valerie said in a crooked voice
"Even your voice too. I'm so sorry" Madam Sylvia replied, sitting beside her and Valerie coughed lightly.
"I'll get you something good for your throat" Madam Sylvia said and stood up. She walked to the cellar and poured wine into two cups but added a powdered substance to the one meant for Valerie then she came back with it and handed it to Valerie who collected it and drank without suspecting anything.
"You know people are dangerous" Madam Sylvia said
"Yes, a lot" Valerie replied
"What about me, do you feel like I'm dangerous?" Madam Sylvia asked.
"Yes you're very dangerous" Valerie replied
"I'm Glad to know you're aware of that, and I'm wicked as well" she replied
"What?" Valerie exclaimed.
"Yes I'm wicked, and I'm not sorry for showing you wickedness because you might implicate me. I told you I dislike people getting on my way and being a hindrance" Madam Sylvia said, standing up and Valerie felt a sharp pain in her stomach
"Oh" she whimpered, holding her tummy
"I'm not sorry, safe journey to hell for almost spilling my secret" Madam Sylvia said with a wicked smile.
"My tummy oh my God" Valerie screamed in agony as the poison ate deep into her intestines.
"Your intestines should be in pieces by now and it's time to die" Madam Sylvia said when Valerie began to bleed from the mouth and nose.
She fell from the couch and landed on the floor with her blood staining the floor in the process.
"Happy deathday Valerie" Madam Sylvia and poured the remaining wine on Valerie's dead body.
Madam Sylvia took Valerie's body into the booth of one of her cars and waited for when everywhere became dark before going to dump it beside a waste pit.
When she got back home, Hilda's call came in on her phone
“Hey friend” Madam Sylvia said
“Sylvia, is Valerie still with you?”
“No, she left since five hours ago, why?”
“What, she’s not at home yet and her line is off, I’m getting scared” Hilda replied.
”Really?, what could have happened then, why don’t we report to the police?” Madam Sylvia said as innocently as ever.
”Ok, I’ll do that”
”I'll meet you at the station” Madam Sylvia said and hung up.
”Unfortunately my dear friend, she’s gone and all that’s left to see is her dead body” Madam Sylvia said with a smile.
The next morning, Hilda couldn't control the tears that flowed uncontrollably from her eyes. Valerie was found dead last night without a scratch on her body and autopsy revealed that she died as a result of poisoning.
Hilda knows exactly what happened now, she knows who’s behind it all, pretending to be helping but she kept it in and just cried throughout.
Valerie was buried in the evening of that same day and Madam Sylvia never left Hilda's house till late at night.
“Be careful Sylvia” Hilda said when it was time for Madam Sylvia to go
“But why? Madam Sylvia asked.
”Today was Valerie's so who knows? Just be careful” Hilda replied.
”What’s the meaning of that?” Madam Sylvia wondered but she discarded it.
When she got home that night, she saw Albert right in front of her house.
“Albert?" Madam Sylvia called surprisingly
”Nice operation, it was clean without a trace, how professional” Albert said clapping his hands.
”What are you talking about?” Madam Sylvia asked astonished.
”Acting innocent isn’t applicable in front of me” Albert said
”So what, who’ll believe you if you say it. No one because you never caught me In the act” Madam Sylvia said and Albert laughed.
”You’re right but you know what, The time to tell it to the whole world, I don’t have it. I once told Valerie that she won’t last for three weeks, but it’s not even up to two weeks and she’s dead so now I’m giving you a month, if you aren’t dead before then, then you have a strong spirit.
What will kill you will crawl to you so enjoy your stay on Earth while it lasts” he said before leaving in his car.
”I can’t believe I gave birth to that bastard” Madam Sylvia blurted, going in.
The following morning, Richard decided to go to work today eventhough he dressed casually.
He wore a white sweater on black trousers and held the teddy bear while entering the company sullenly ignoring the greetings of the staffs and went straight to his floor.
He stood beside Ruby's table and ran his hand through it and
tears came out of his eyes that he couldn't even control it.
He sat on her chair and noticed some dusts on the table then he took some tissue paper and started wiping the table untill his fingers hurts but he never stopped.
“Ruby” he called slowly, looking at the teddy again
“Ruby where are you” He screamed loudly which attracted the attention of Janet and Albert and they rushed to the office immediately.
“I thought I told you not to come bro now what the hell are you doing here” Albert said, holding him up
”I want to see Ruby please, I really want to see her and I need to check if the baby is kicking Please Albert, just help find her for me I beg you” Richard pleaded in tears.
”Richard please” Janet said sadly because he’s really suffering by crying a lot.
”Please I need to see her” Richard screamed again then Albert had no choice but to hit the side of his palm hard on Richard's neck.
Richard went down but he quickly caught him as he lost consciousness
“I’ll take him home, take care Jane” Albert said carrying Richard out of the company.
A week later,
Hilda picked her ringing phone from the couch and smiled when she saw the caller.
“I’m in front of your house now with the package” the voice said then she went to the door and opened it, revealing a guy who
gave her a parcel in a box and she gave him cash in an envelope and he left after taking a bow.
When she got in, she opened the box and smiled taking out the content. It was a sword that wasn't sharpened yet but she ordered the unsharpened one knowingly because she wants to sharpen it herself and teach someone a lesson with it
She brought out a file and started drafting something on it immediately.
“I’ll file this for two weeks, then I’ll strike the bitch” Hilda said.
Later in the afternoon Vina entered a store and prayed not to get caught as usual but it seems luck wasn't on her side that day.
She grabbed snacks and juice inside her backpack and walked to the counter to pay for only the small biscuit she was holding
“What about the ones in your bag, are you taking them for free?” The attendant asked
”What?” Vina asked frozen in shock.
”So you’re a thief and you think I didn’t see you when you were putting stuffs in your bag?” the attendant asked but Vina kept mute, knowing she has been caught no doubt.
The attendant came out of the stand angrily and held her hair pulling it hard.
“I hate thieves, I hate them a lot so let’s just say you’re unfortunate for deciding to steal from me, this is my mum’s shop in case you don't know and I’m calling the cops right away" she said.
Vina cried, hoping a savior will just appear and those people shopping in the store has gathered round them as the attendant held her hair with one hand and carried her phone with another.
“What’s happening here?” Doctor Faith's asked at the entrance because she just got in
“Madam, she stole from us” the attendant replied and Dr Faith walked in fully and saw Vina's face
“Vina?” Dr Faith called in shock.
“Doctor please save me” Vina pleaded in tears
An hour later after Dr Faith had rescued Vina she began to seriously scold her.
“Stealing is not the best and I’m sure you're aware” Dr Faith said to Vina when they finally got home.
”I know but I have no choice because no one was ready to give me a job, even washing of dishes, it’s like I’ve been cursed” she replied sniffing.
”I’m so sorry about that but you should have at least asked me for money, what if the owner of that store is not my friend? You would have landed yourself in jail” Dr Faith said.
”You’re already doing a lot by treating Ruby for free and I can’t continue to place burdens on you” she replied and Dr Faith smiled
”It’s fine” she said and brought out a debit card
”Take this and spend as much as you want. You can use it anytime” she said.
”Doctor Faith" Vina muttered at the verge of tears
“Shh I don’t want to hear thank you.
It’s my pleasure so just spend judiciously” she interrupted and Vina hugged her tight
”But don’t you think you should let her boyfriend know at least?” Dr Faith asked.
”I want her to wake up first before doing anything” she replied
”She’ll wake up soon and thanks for taking care of her” Dr Faith said and hugged Vina again.
It's being over a month since the incident and Ruby's pregnancy was gradually protruding and Vina was busy feeding the unconscious Ruby with oats as usual when she suddenly gasped
Vina dropped the plate and watched her closely and she gasped again.
“What do I do now?” Vina said worriedly as Ruby kept gasping over and over again and the machine kept beeping.
“Ruby, Ruby” Vina called twice before hitting her cheeks slightly.
She opened her eyes slowly and stopped gasping then the machine became stable again.
“Ruby you’re awake” she said gladly with a big smile on her face
“Magnet?” Ruby called
“Yes it’s me” she replied and helped her sit up
“Magnet is this really you and I’m not dead?” Ruby asked shedding tears already.
”I’ve been sleeping in that uncompleted building since I left the orphanage and I saved you from those two witches, You’ve been in coma for a month but I’ve been keeping you here since then” Vina replied
”My love would have been worried sick but I’m still alive and I’m glad like seriously” Ruby said, letting her tears fall and she suddenly grabbed her stomach.
“My baby”
“You don’t have to worry Ruby, your baby is fine. Dr Faith took great care of you both” Vina answered
”Who's Doctor Faith?” Ruby asked.
”I’m sure you’ll meet her soon, I’m just so glad that you’re back Ruby and I’m glad you’re talking to me so please stop crying” Vina said but it only made Ruby cry the more.
”Thanks for saving me Magnet” Ruby said
“That name again” Vina feigned anger and pouted
”Yes, you always take what’s not yours, isn’t that why we named you Magnet back then at the orphanage?” Ruby asked slightly smiling
“I don't think I’ll magnet again” Vina replied.
“I’m just glad i met you again my magnet, I love you come here sweetheart, and thanks for saving me and my baby once again” Ruby said and hugged her tightly while crying.
”Love you baby” Vina said
“Call me Ruby because baby is for only one person” she replied and Vina curved her lips
”I’m jealous” Vina said
“Magnet” Ruby called with a sad smile but Vina interrupted her
“Stop calling me that”
Ruby breathed in and out for some minutes, trying to balance her breaths.
"You've been taking oats unconsciously for a month, stop blowing out air like that, you might end up blowing out your intestines" Vina said.
"I just hope my baby will be ok, I really hope" Ruby said
"So far I haven't heard any news about the death of any CEO of Peak empire" Vina said
"God forbid evil, he'll never die, we made a deal of always and forever so forget about death, I'm just scared of how miserable he'd have been" she replied, shedding tears again.
"But one happy news is that the devil's advocate is dead, I mean Valerie" Vina said.
"Really, but what happened to her?" Ruby inquired
"Death happened" Vina replied
"I mean how did she die? "
"She died by experiencing death" Vina answered laughing
"Don't be so annoying again, I mean how was she killed? " Ruby said
"Obviously, Madam Sylvia killed her so she won't spit out her secret, it's just so obvious to me" Vina replied.
"I don't know but I feel like the devil bribed someone to get on that throne, Madam Sylvia is the real devil. After killing my parents, she decided to kill me again just because I'm in love with her son" Ruby said.
"Such is life my dear so trust no one, but why will you go to Rockview alone?"
"I received a message to come meet the killer of my parents" Ruby replied.
"Are you daft? You think someone who made your parents die in a fatal accident isn't capable of killing you too?" You should have contacted the cops " Vina said.
