章 9: Chapter 9
For that moment, her pains subsided
"I'm sorry boss, I'm sorry it was a mistake"
He saw that there's still coffee in the cup.
He took it with the intention of pouring it on her face
She closed her eyes so it won't enter her eyes when he pours it
He held the cup tight, looking at her closed eyes, his hand stopped
He inhaled hard before dropping the cup.
Even the table is all messed up with the coffee
He threw the shirt he took off on her face.
She held it
"Suit yourself. But you have a penalty" he said calling one of the cleaners.
He dropped the telephone after the call.
"Go to the General shopping mall and get me anything, just anything "
" What! "
The central mall is about two streets away, too far
"Or do you prefer deduction from your salary? " He asked
"No sir I'll go" she said. He threw her his wallet she caught it
"If you board a taxi, you're dead meat, and ensure you don't make use of the lift. Now, get out"
She exited the office, dumping his shirt on her table
She ran out of the company as fast as she can , running down the over 250 stairs, she almost lost her breath
She spent almost thirty minutes, descending the stairs
She finally got out of the company and started running all the way to the shopping mall.
Then she noticed cars following her
"His guards?, Like seriously?"
perhaps, to ensure she doesn't take a taxi.
She kept jogging until she twisted her ankle, she removed her shoes and ran bare footed.
After about an hour run and sprint
She got to the mall, breathing heavily...
She examined for what to purchase and located a ring in a display glass.
which was the first thing her eyes appreciated
"How much does it cost?" She asked the closest attendant
" 50,000" he replied
She took out some money from the wallet and handed it to him
before collecting the ring after which she started jogging back to the office
One of his cars suddenly stopped beside her
"Boss drive you back to the office" one of the guards said
"Thank you, thank you" she exclaimed suffocatingly before hopping in.
The ride was comfy and cool, just very relaxing and it took them just twenty minutes to arrive the office.
She got back some energy and when they got back to the company, she used that to climb the stairs but just by the middle, her menstrual pains came back.
Maybe the fact that she hasn't eaten this morning is adding to it, and the one hour run she did to the mall.
It's stinging, her stomach is burning.
She held it tight and managed to climb with difficulty
She got to their floor and entered his office Straight
He has changed into another shirt...blue this time around
She leaned on his table, breathing heavily, trying hard not to faint
She placed the ring on the table with the wallet
"This is it.....boss" she said weakly
He kept mute, looking at her, she looks too weak and she's sweating profusely
Maybe guilt gripped him.
Ruby started walking out of the office.
She held the doorknob and the strength to open the door is not even available again
She kept standing there, holding the knob
He stood and left his seat, he came to her
"Are you ok?" He asked
She looked back with freaking tired eyes
"I'm .... O....
She hasn't finished when she fell in his arms...

Ruby, Richard called her name as her eyes went close in his arms.
No reply, her body went limp too
"She really passed out?" He thought worriedly.
"What can i do?"
He helped her up in his arms, carrying her out of the office in a bridal style.
He came across Janet just immediately he came out.
"Boss!, Ruby!" She almost shouted, shocked to see Ruby that way, she looks lifeless in his arms.
"Press the elevator button" he ordered
She pressed it and he got into the elevator.
Janet entered with him and it took them downstairs
The door opened once more and he came out, hurrying to where the vehicle was.
His guards gathered around him as he dropped her inside the car.
"hop in" he said to Janet.
Janet sat close to Ruby who was almost lifeless at the backseat
She held her hands scared.
"Please be fine. I just knew it, she likes pretending all is well when it's not well" she worried.
Richard sat on the other side
The drive to the hospital was smooth and fast.
Some interns brought a stretcher on which she was wheeled in
She was taken into a ward as Janet and Richard stood on one side as she's being attended to.
The female doctor pressed the upper part of her stomach down to her abdomen.
When she pressed the abdomen, even in her unconscious state, she wriggled in pains
She was tested too and they were assured she'll soon be ok after she's been given an injection
"Are you related to her?" The doctor questioned Janet
"Yes, she's my best friend" she replied.
"She gets menstrual cramps right?" She asked
"Yes, monthly, and it's quiet bad, she cries each time it happens, it's obvious it gives her agonizing pains" Janet replied
Richard Hussed
" That's just what's happening now, you saw when I pressed her abdomen right?, She's in pains but the pain relievers we injected will relieve it although it's not recommended but there was no other choice"
" And she hasn't eaten this morning though" Janet said
"It's nothing, said the doctor.
"The tests revealed that her menstrual blood flow some minutes ago is much, maybe as a result of stress, she lost a lot in the flow so it's advisable to use blood tonic and multivitamins to supplement".
" Sure, thanks doctor, she'll be fine right? ' Janet asked
" of course, she just needs adequate rest and she'll recuperate" the doctor said to them before exiting the ward.
"she lost a lot of blood in her menstrual flow during the run to the mall?, Damn" Richard thought, looking at her.
" Poor Ruby, when will menstrual cramps leave my friend" Janet said sadly.
" You can stay with her right? " Richard asked
" Yes I can" Janet replied
Richard glanced one more time at Ruby before leaving disturbed.
He arrived the company and sighted Albert exiting his office.
"Albert, what were you looking for in my office?"
"Relax big bro it's nothing" Albert said, patting his shoulder before Walking out.
Richard continued staring at him suspiciously till he's completely out of sight.
He entered his office and saw Valerie seated and adjusting her skimpy skirt
"Baby" Valerie said, standing up to meet him.
"Why was Albert coming out of here?" He asked
"Well, he came looking for something but couldn't find it" she lied.
They actually had sex inside the office
" Came to look for something In my office?"
" Babe let's stop talking about him, I dislike him"
Richard sat , still worried about Ruby
Valerie came all-over him, caressing him
"Stop Valerie, I'm not in the mood" he told her.
"Hey, did something happen?" She asked, sitting on his laps
" My secretary is not ok" he said
Valerie's mood Changed.
"Your Secretary again? she said, standing from his laps
" Try to understand, I'm just naturally worried because I contributed as to why she's not ok"
" That doesn't ring a bell Richard, since when did you start caring about other people ?" Valerie asked, flaring up.
" Valerie don't you get it?, She's my secretary for crying out loud!" He yelled.
" Cynthia was your secretary too but I can count how many times you spilled coffee on her face or you tell her to ascend and descend the stairs twenty times till her legs will almost break, you even once poured hot coffee on her face, leaving her face all red and you once made her stand throughout one day. but what is it with this Ruby of a girl" Valerie shouted at him annoyingly.
"Are you done?" He asked patiently.
"Fine, I'm sorry for shouting at you but you began all of this"
"It's alright, besides that's what we spend most of our time doing, shouting at each other"
" I'm sorry" she said.
" You should try to understand me there is no feelings attached, I'm only disturbed" he said
" Richie, it's alright, can you at least peck me ?"
" I'm not in the mood it will lack sweetness if I do it"
Julius immediately entered.
Valerie rose and carried her bag.
" I'll be on my way then, love you baby!" She said and pecked his cheeks before leaving , her ass bouncing in her short skirt.
She passed by Julius without saying a word.
Julius inhaled hard after she has left.
"You're here today I hope I'm safe" Richard said.
"Is that the right statement you arrogant fool let's go get some drinks together, we don't even know a thing about each other but we call ourselves friends" Julius said.
" I know a lot about you though" Richard replied
" Fool you only know my name and my house, then my company,
what else do you know about me you fool!"
" I think I know the name of your dog" Richard replied.
Bloody fool!, I hate you Richard!" Julius said and stood.
" Believe me, I'll check up on you at your house next week, " Richard said.
" Keep your visitation to your self"
" You'll be in need of it. Take care" Richard waved.
" Bye Bastard" Julius replied, exiting the office
Richard's mind drifted back to Ruby again
"Will she be awake now?"
His eyes came in contact with the ring on the table
He took the ring box and opened it
It's nice
He took it out and accessed it.
He wore it on his finger and it fits perfectly like a wedding ring
He immediately took it off
*What am I doing"
Ruby woke up and after examining her environment, on seen that it's a ward, she got up
"Ruby!" Janet said.
"What am i doing here?" She asked Janet, recalling she slumped
"What exactly happened?" Janet asked.
"I'm sorry for not informing you but it was my menstrual pain again, but he added to it, I mistakenly spilled coffee on him and he punished me to trek to the mall and buy him anything, and he warned me not to make use of the elevator"
"Even while in pain you still ran? you could have died. I must confess you're a strong lady"
" I don't know how I'm still alive now" she replied.
" Well that was his cruel side you experienced. But to think he actually carried you it's strange. So, the doctor confirmed that it's as a result of your cramps and much stress, maybe while running to the mall, she said you lost a lot of blood during your flow"
" Sure, I'm all wet with blood down there now even with the fact that I used double pad" she replied, getting up from the bed.
The bed she sat on was stained with blood, likewise her skirt
" You need to change, and look at the mess you've created on the bed"
" Janet, you mean Mr Richard was here when the doctor said it's as a result of my menstruation?"
" Of course" Janet replied
" OMG how embarrassing. Now, how will I face him tomorrow"
Janet laughed at the miss drama
She later cleaned up and Janet got her a cheap gown and new panties with pad from a nearby shop which she changed into and finally left the hospital.
"Ruby persisted on seeing Kelvin, so she pleaded with Janet to accompany her. Ruby made to open the door but the door opened exposing Kelvin and a girl beside him.
Kelvin appeared surprised to see her but Janet smiled knowingly but sternly.
" Oh Ruby, you never told me you'll come" Kelvin said awkwardly.
" When you don't take your calls, how would I have informed you"
" I'm sorry my love, meet my cousin Anna" he said, pointing at the girl beside him.
" Hi" Ruby greeted.
"Hi" Anna responded nonchalantly before walking out on them.
"She's in a haste, pay her no attention, you can come in" he told them.
They all went in with Janet trailing them behind.
" Until when will you realize that you are been taken advantage of by this Kelvin"
Richard entered Valerie's street that evening and sighted Albert's car going out of the street
"What's Albert doing here?" He thought as he drove his car.
" Why am I feeling suspicious"
"What am I even insinuating?
The car stopped in front of Val's house and he alighted, then entered her house and met her watching an opera
"Richie" she ran and embrace him
He extended the hug.
"I missed you" she said
"We still saw each other in the office"
" It doesn't matter baby"
" Come here" he said, dragging her closer
She kissed her but he instantly broke away from the kiss
"Why does your lips taste different? This is not the usual flavour" he asked, looking at her
" Well, I had sour milk and bananas"
"Even your lips are inflamated as well" he said, attempting to touch it but she drew back.
" I actually accidentally bit my lips trust me"
He discarded the concern and sat, making her sit on his laps
He began kissing her again but she's not feeling the vibes to be in the mood for lovemaking, by now he should have been aroused coz she's the only one who has the might to do that but nothing happened.
She tastes different, like distinct... and the taste is a mix of alcohol and smoke.
Even if she takes alcohol, she doesn't smoke
He broke the kiss
"What?"
"it's nothing" he answered and stood up
"Are you going already?"
"I'm just stressed"
"Go home and relax then"
He stared at her doubtfully before exiting her premises.
While riding home, his mind was full of thoughts
About what just happened and how he saw Albert coming out of the street
And finally Ruby
He carried his phone to call her number but he refrained himself
"Why would I?"
He instantly came across a pharmacy
"It's advisable to use blood tonic and multivitamins to supplement" the doctor's words echoed in his ear.
He ordered his driver to stop and he went inside the pharmacy.
When Richard left, Valerie's phone rang and the caller id revealed it was Albert, she picked excitedly
"Hello"
"Val, I presume your boyfriend came over because i saw his car while I was leaving"
" Sure, but he's being suspicious"
"Leave him be, nothing to get scared of. "But I feel like
coming back to fuck you till dawn"
" Accepted, please come quickly."
The Previous day……
"Thanks for taking care of me again" Ruby told Janet when they got to the company, where they will part ways to their respective offices. “It’s nothing, Ensure you eat something every day. I love you and don't forget to work hard" Janet told her before leaving.
