章 27: The Next Step
At a certain office of what seems to be a chamber of commerce located in a different kingdom.
"What did you say? tier 7 herbs appeared in that backwater tier 5 Kingdom of Lockridge?"
A mysterious middle aged man with eyeglasses said.
"Yes sir, we already confirmed with our informants that tier 6 and tier 7 herbs have indeed appeared for sale at a relatively known chamber of commerce inside that kingdom.
"Also, that chamber of commerce apparently earned a lot from those herbs as they were bought by alchemy guilds from tier 2 kingdoms." Replied the subordinate.
"Hmm..Does the tier 2 alchemy guilds already know who the supplier of the herbs were?"
The mysterious man asked.
"No sir. According to our investigations, it seems that the supplier was a young woman in her early 20s. She was reported to have around four subordinates and they all left from the east gate of the Kingdom of Lockridge."
The subordinate replied.
"The east gate? Weren't there only small fiefdoms and backwater villages around that area of the Lockridge kingdom?"
"Yes sir, there weren't any notable places where the supplier could have had their base of operations. The area was also close to the Forest of Echoes so there should be no notable merchants are known around that area."
"Hmmm….The..Forest of Echoes?"
The man seemingly got an idea after his subordinate mentioned the dangerous Forest of Echoes.
"Relay this for me, merchant team two led by Stadtfeld will go to the Gloomy Plains and investigate the area. If there are locals, investigate their settlements. Remember, do not be rude to the locals at all costs and exercise utmost professionalism when talking to them."
The man ordered.
"Understood sir."
The subordinate quickly left and informed the man named Stadtfeld about his new task.
Back at the village.
*Knock* *Knock*
"Adelaine? Are you there?"
Blanc knocked on the door of Adelaine's hut.
After waiting for a brief moment, the door opened.
"Yes? Big bro? What's the matter?"
"Here, I have written your first exam regarding the business books. I will return later to check your answers. In the meantime, give me books 1 to 3."
Adelaine's cheating plans were ruthlessly shut down by Blanc as she gave him the reference books related to the current examination.
"Well, I studied properly anyway, there's no need to cheat." Adelaine thought.
Blanc left Adelaine's hut after giving her the papers for her first exam.
He then proceeded to walk towards the training fields.
While walking, he passed by the area where the construction team is working.
Their progress can almost be called terrifying as they continuously built structure after structure for the past year.
The member's prowess in carpentry is now close to being masterclass as they have already finished the somewhat complex wooden spiked wall defenses around the village.
In addition to this, five new important structures were completed by them.
The town hall, hospital, tavern, the temporary headquarters of the resonance chamber of commerce, and the craftsmen workshop.
Next, Blanc passed by the farm.
Vibrant colors of different crops can be seen stretching across the lands far and wide.
They were initially growing a few kinds of basic crops such as potatoes, turnips, corn, and wheat.
However, under the consistent efforts of the farming team, the farm continuously expanded.
There were now at least ten kinds of crops and a few fruit trees growing such as apples and mangoes.
Not to mention, the soil in the gloomy plains seems to be extremely suitable for growing crops and fruit trees.
As a result, the quality of their agricultural products were way better than those grown by the local farmers of each kingdom.
The fish ponds were now teeming with life and a few freshwater foods can be harvested once in a while for consumption.
Lastly, the animals such as rabbits, chickens, cows, pigs, goats, and sheep were constantly breeding and their numbers are steadily growing.
Seeing such developments in his village, Blanc couldn't help but feel proud of his accomplishments. He was the one who led the village to such heights.
He didn't let his current accomplishments get into his head though. Their current progress is still very far from his goal of creating his own kingdom wherein every one of his subjects can live peacefully.
If a kingdom's national military strength is weak, rebellions may occur. In addition to this, other kingdoms may invade their territory and cause utter chaos and devastation.
Blanc doesn't plan to create such a half-assed kingdom.
He plans to make a kingdom that is tier 1 in every category to make sure that no one will mess with them.
His subjects will be able to live in peace and his loved ones will never have to worry about their safety ever again.
Finally, after walking for quite a while, Blanc reached the training fields.
He has a very important mission for the other squad leaders who were left behind to protect the territory.
Since Helena and the others should be going back soon, it's time to send the veteran squad leaders on their own settler recruitment missions.
