章 71: The Prince Left You Something
Tianshi Xue was not sure whether or not the Emperor ignoring her was a good thing or not. He did not even address her while they were dining. It seemed like the old man could not stop working either as he was still talking to his sons about the matters of the state.
Now she knew that Prince Qui would be indisposed for the rest of the afternoon as he would be tagging along his father in other state matters meetings.
"Around what time are you going to be available again?" she asked him when they stepped out.
"Why?"
"I want to know just how much fun time I can have to myself."
The corner of Prince Qui's lips turned upwards. "You need not to worry about me until dinner. You won't even see my shadow."
"Good to know," she said. "Well, then, I'll be on my way."
The prince did not even say a farewell and just strode the other way. Howin detached herself from the wall. "What are we going to do today, Howin?"
"Pardon, Your Highness?"
She looked out the huge windows and saw that the sun was not shining that much today. "What do I usually do at a time like this?"
"Have tea and read a book?"
Tianshi Xue was disgusted with the thought of having to seat down, of being immobilized. "Anything else in mind?"
"Well…" Howin looked around like she was nervous. "When we left your room this morning," she kept her voice low. "I think the prince left you something in your room."

Tianshi Xue was nervous to know what kind of gift it would be like. Would it be something nice like the hairpin that he gave her? Or would it be something disastrous?
She found the package in the small living room set that they have in their shared bedroom. It was in a small orange box. Heavens, the color was hideous but she pulled at the satin lace and opened the package.
There in the middle of the box, was another box. There was no note. Well, what did she expect really?
"Oh, it's a Linker (cellphone)," said Howin. Tianshi Xue clearly heard the slight disappointment from the handmaiden's voice.
She, however, was more than delighted as she pulled out the box. It was a gadget that closely resembles that of a watch and projects a hologram interface. It was a common gadget to have. It was their main way of communication and keeping up to date with the latest news.
For normal citizens, the strap was usually made with some kind of rubber available in many colors. For the rich ones, they have their own customized straps, leather or metal, or whatever it was that they have set their minds to, making the gadget look like an accessory. Keeping their style with their convenience.
As for the royals, the straps had always been platinum or gold. It did not matter if the strap was fashioned like a bracelet or a watch's. What matters was the kind of metal that was used for it.
That was why Tianshi Xue's blood started to boil when she found that she had a normal strap. When she was an actress, her Linker was held by thin lines of silver and had charms dangling from it.
What was worst, she realized that it was not just a normal strap. It was black and had the rough material that was used in the indestructible bags for the soldiers.
She had a military strap.
Howin immediately bowed her head in panic. "I—I'll have a strap made for you, Your Highness, I would order it now. If you would just excuse me."
She waved the poor servant away, unable to speak because of her anger. Still, she strapped the ugly thing on her slim wrist and powered it on. She set up the gadget and wondered yet again why the princess never had one in her entire life.
Was that it? Books and tea? Was that her life? So boring.
After all the security had been placed, she finally started scrolling through the internet. She had wanted to open her social media accounts but just imagine the fright that people would have when they see that she was online? So she settled on being content with the search engine.
She was reading articles related to her death, wondering which one of these crazy people were out to get her.
