"DEFEAT!" The game's announcer on my phone said.
Sigh. This was my sixth ranked game. Six games lost or in other words, a lose streak. I was playing as Argus, the immortal fallen angel, from a game called Mobile Legends Bang Bang, a MOBA game.
Even though Argus isn't in the META, I still use him. I couldn't help but be fascinated by his story.
This is what his character lore says:
(1325 words omitted. Was moved to "Argus'Backstory". Reading it is optional, if you read it, you would know his powers. If you don't, his powers would be a surprise.)
–And that's how Argus became the only Dark Angel. I prefer his old story, before he got reworked, because his story said that he was so bored that he killed half of the Abyss army.
"Why won't Moonton buff Argus? He's so weak in the early game, but I guess it's also the reason why he can destroy heroes on the late game. But still, he can be countered easily when he activates his ultimate; the enemies could just run away until his ultimate ends."
It was 5 pm. My little siblings and I were at home. School had just ended. This was why we were at home. I am the oldest, and both of our parents work from morning to afternoon, even into the night. Although we don't have much money, we are rich in love.
My mother told me to go to the store and buy some things she needed for cooking. I did as she asked; I went out to the store and bought the things she needed.
Walking back, our house was in a small subdivision; there weren't many cars or people outdoors. If you look at the map, the subdivision we are in is part of a province; however, the exit of the subdivision is the city.
I also like anime. Because many animes are adapted from manga, I decided to read manga. Then I discovered that some manga have web novels or light novels. So, I started reading fanfiction. Although I haven't actually read or watched DXD, I still tried it anyway.
DXD fanfics are good. I recently started reading the light novels for DXD. Although I can't say that I'm very knowledgeable about it since I just started a week ago.
My phone suddenly vibrated. I often put it on silent mode.
I checked what's the notification, a message was shown on the screen. The message was from an unfamiliar number.
I was about to ignore the message thinking that it's just another random person advertising a product but I saw a glimpse of the content.
- You'll die in 5 seconds.
What a weird message. I was about to put my phone on my pocket when it vibrated once again.
- 4 seconds.
Okay, that's not funny anymore.
I typed, "- Whoever you are, please stop–"
- 3 seconds.
As I read that message, I felt time slow down.
"–sending me these messages." It's creeping me out. There's this sense of dread that it's hard to explain. The surroundings suddenly felt cold.
Eh? Is someone whistling? I turn my heads towards the place I assumed the whistling came from. There was someone... An Angel with dark feathered wings holding a sleek black scythe adorned with striking red accents.
- 2 seconds.
I sent the message. Lights? Huh? I looked to my right. I saw a car. It was a few meters away from me. Wait... I could no longer hear anything.
My phone vibrated for the last time.
- 1 second.
Then I felt something heavy hit me.
[----\o/----]
Remember when I said that cars aren't many? That's true, and accidents don't happen often. But just because something is rare doesn't mean it can't happen to you. Yes, I got hit by a car.
And now I'm a ghost. Looking at my body, which flew a short distance, broken bones, and blood splattered. The car screeched to a stop. It came back, and the door opened. A family of four stepped out, looking at me worriedly–no, horrified.
The place where my body flew was a short distance from my home. A child and a man peered out the window, piqued by the car screeching. They looked at the car, then the four people, and finally at me.
The kid and the man are my sister and father; when they saw me, they rushed to me. Then, out came my mother, and finally, the rest of my little siblings. When my mom saw me, she cried. She cried while covering her face.
Probably blaming herself because she sent me to buy the items she needed. Now that I think about it, where are the items she told me to buy? I've been wondering about it because I haven't seen them.
My father turned me towards them. Ah, so there it was. It seemed that I had hugged the plastic bag containing the purchased items, protectively.
The man went towards my father kneeled in front of him and repeatedly said, "I'm sorry."
The woman went up to my mother and hugged her, trying to comfort her and saying, "I'm so sorry."
Good thing that my date of death wasn't near their date of birth. I didn't want them to feel sad about my death every year. If I could just tell them in person—why are you guys looking at me? Could it be that they can see me?
Checking to see if they could really see me, I flew around and their eyes followed. Damn. They can really see me.
"Umm... I don't know what to say... Wait let me just think of something before I cross over to the other side."
"What do you mean you don't know what to say?" My mother angrily shouted at me.
"I didn't think that this was possible… I mean, you know when people die, they cross over to the other side already without saying anything to their families."
"Is he like this when he's alive?" The man whispered to my father.
"Yes, he is." My father and replied.
"Okay, I have prepared a speech. Dad, mom, I love you both so much. Thank you for bringing me into this world. Thank you for taking care of me even when I was a bad child. Thank you for everything." After I said that, I could see my father tearing up a bit and my mother bursting into tears again.
"To my lil siblings, take care of mom and dad. Take care of yourselves because I won't be around anymore." I think I can see the two of them crying, and the other one turning her head away, probably also crying.
"To the ones that hit me," I could see them cringe a bit, "please don't blame yourselves for my death. I was the one at fault; I didn't make sure there were no cars before crossing the road."
"No, it was my fault. I was speeding."
"You know what? I'm not even going to argue with you. You probably will shift the blame onto yourself again, even if I make a reasonable excuse."
"Sorry..."
Sigh. Am I getting higher? "Oh! I think it's time. Dad, Mom, take care of yourselves! Mom, don't blame yourself! You two are the best parents I could ever wish for!" I say as my voice fades out.
Ah well, I wish I could have said goodbye to my friends, especially my best friend. But... I think this is fine. Wait, what happened to my phone? I ain't going anywhere before making sure my phone's files get deleted.
Then I came back to my body. They were shocked, of course – the lifeless husk is now kicking and alive. I quickly went to my phone, unlocked it, and hit the factory data reset button. And the phone shut down. Okay, safe!
I have left my body. I am now ready to go. I'm not worried about my browser history because they will never know the account password.
When I blinked, I realized the surroundings were pure white. Then a voice called out to me.
"[@$&#/!]. You poor child. You weren't supposed to die so soon."
When I looked at where the voice was coming from, I saw a woman. A very beautiful woman. Her hair was curly blonde. She had a veil that covered her eyes and nose. Her lips looked like they were glistening. Her skin was milky white. With her red dress that showcased her body. Her breasts were large, and her back was also large. Her thighs looked like a comfortable place to sleep on. Seeing me fixated on her body, she smiled beautifully at me. It wasn't a smile of happiness that someone was amazed by her body; it was a smile that felt like she was treating me like a child.
When she giggled at me, I averted my eyes and remembered that I was in a different place. So, I asked her.
"Who... Who are you?"
"I am someone who has seen everything from the start to the end... Or you can call me Lunete~" She said the first part seriously and then shifted to a playful tone for the last part.
"Are you a goddess?" I gulped at first because I thought she was being serious; however, I was soon proven wrong by her sudden change in tone. As I looked at her, my mouth twisted into a look of disbelief.
"That's right! And because you died earlier than you should, I will grant you three—no, five wishes for when I reincarnate you into another world!"
"Why five wishes? Actually, why give me wishes?"
"Why not?"
"I believe that I didn't really do something worthy of five wishes back there."
"The three wishes came from someone. I was indebted to that person. Also, that person says sorry. He got the name wrong so he wants to compensate by giving you the three wishes. Still, he could have used that for himself... Anyways! The other two came from me! You got me interested! Call it investment if you will."
"That's a lot to take in. So I'm assuming that "That Person" does not want to get their identity known?"
"He doesn't really mind. Though I'm sure you already knew his identity by now."
"...Is he the angel I saw earlier?"
"Correct! One more wish for you!"
"Really?"
"Of course! Now, what will the wishes be?"
"Can it be anything?"
"Yes! But why are you so calm?"
"Well, I already died, didn't I? If I died, then it is what it is."
She looked at me and said, "This is the first time I've seen someone so calm. So, what would you wish for?"
"I wish for..."
