My son was simply a genius, there was nothing else I could describe him as, he managed to survive without any prior knowledge to survival.
I was simply waiting for him to give up and go home, that's when I would go to him and teach him the things he would need, while he wasn't very efficient he was better than some of the genin I knew, he managed to catch a rabbit, skin it correctly, didn't discard the fur, which I've seen many people do only to realize that they needed it, his fire setting skills would need some work and I would have to let him read our medical encyclopedia as he didn't have any knowledge about the herbs in the forest, all in all, I was incredibly impressed with him.
For now, I would wait a little more and see what he would do if I didn't show up.
~~~ Shikamaru's POV ~~~
It was the second day in the forest, I managed to stay up meditating for most of the night, but I still dozed off near the end, this just showed me that I needed more control over my body.
When I woke up I half expected mom to be there ready to teach me things, but I was disappointed as she still wasn't there.
I figured that she still wasn't impressed enough with my survival skills, I guess I could have searched for a cave for more protection and my fire setting skills were pitiful, but I guess the academy was there for that as I could probably learn a basic Katon jutsu to set a fire, it probably was included in the academy curriculum, but that wouldn't be for the next several years, sadly.
So the first thing that I would do would be finding a cave and making sure there weren't any animals in it like bears or some other kind of animal, I wasn't sure what kind of animals there were in the forest other than deer, rabbits, and all sorts of birds.
After running for half an hour I managed to find a cave near a river, it was surrounded by trees and was fairly hard to see if you weren't specifically looking for it, the next thing I needed to do was find firewood and dry leaves so I could set another fire, also the only tools I currently had was a makeshift stone knife that could barely cut through skin.
After gathering wood I started looking for something to hunt, that's when I realized that I was near a river, which had fish, so I just needed a lot of patience and I could catch a fish eventually.
~~~ Mom's POV ~~~
I was getting more and more impressed with him, he found a suitable place to stay in, found wood, and started fishing, his tools were fairly basic but I couldn't expect a 5-year-old with no prior knowledge to know how to make weapons.
~~~ Shikamaru's POV ~~~
The second day passed relatively normally without much happening, I managed to catch fish and slept on rocks which was very uncomfortable.
Now I was really hoping that mom would show up and finally start showing me stuff but yet again I was disappointed, I had enough wood to last a day or two more I could get water from the river and I could catch fish easily.
I discovered that catching fish was much easier than catching a rabbit, the meditation technique made me basically none existent to a fish's senses, and when they got near me I could easily stab them.
But one problem was that I didn't have enough things to do other than gathering supplies but I basically had nothing else to do, so I did the most main character thing possible and started working out.
After two hours I was sweating a ton, and I felt like something or someone was watching me, it couldn't have been mom as she already told me that if she wanted me to not notice her I wouldn't be able to notice her, so this would either be a very smart animal or another person.
I felt the feeling come from the direction that my cave was in, perhaps an animal had found it and decided to stay there but had noticed me or it was a ninja that was trying to see who I was.
None the less I decided to investigate, you may think that it's not the smartest thing to do but I was fairly certain that I could beat some civilian and I hadn't noticed any traces of wild carnivorous animals anywhere near me as I would have noticed any tracks a bear would have left and wolves would have howled so I would have been able to hear that yet I didn't so I was fairly certain that there weren't any dangerous animals near me.
I kept walking towards the cave acting as if I hadn't noticed anyone watching me, there was no one near the trees so the only place would have been the cave, the question was; how would they have seen me from the cave? The river where I was previously at wasn't visible from the cave as the trees were too thick and densely packed to look through, so that meant it might have been some sensor type of ninja.
That put me on guard, if it really turned out to be a ninja, no matter how weak, I would need to run, the entrance to the forest was only around an hour away from here, if I ran full speed I could maybe make it in 30 or 40 minutes, but against a trained ninja that wasn't fast enough.
I was seriously considering running away, but this forest was inside the walls of Konoha as the walls were also behind the mountain and I was still near the mountain so the possibility of an enemy ninja being here was very low, it could be Obito or Zetsu but if they wanted something from me then I wouldn't have been able to sense them until it was too late.
So I decided to continue, I was already at the entrance of the cave but I still couldn't find anyone, but the feeling kept getting stronger, I knew that whatever it was, was inside the cave, I felt as if it was calling me out so I did the first thing that came to mind and started walking.
With slow measured steps, I got closer and closer to the end of the cave where I had put down all the stuff I had gathered.
I reached the end and it felt as if my eyes were betraying me, as I saw... Nothing, but the feeling I felt was the strongest, I could feel a pressure on my shoulders, it felt as if the wall on the end of the cave was calling me to it, so I walked.
So the first time I do different POVs like this, I'm still experimenting with finding a writing style that works best for me, probably won't find one anytime soon, but we gotta keep advancing.
And I can guarantee that the next chapter will surprise people as I haven't read any stories do or use what I'm about to use.
