章 28: **Ch 28: Edgar's Warning

After Victoria left with Kai's mother, Edgar's delightful smile turned more serious.

"I can't stress enough that you must get your wife off this planet. You're running out of time." Edgar forewarned.

"What have you heard?" Kai questioned him as his voice was maced in calamity, and his eyes only flared into a darker red.

"I doubt she makes her votes, so you need to hide her somewhere where she won't be found." Edgar confided with him.

Kai hissed. "There is nowhere I found that is safe enough to take her! Isn't there anything else that you can do to help us? You're our ally! You've been best friends with my grandfathers Vlad and Vincent since the night you all have arisen."

"I'm your ally, yes, but I am also one of the founders of the Vampire Coven. I cannot go against the Allegiance I helped to create to keep peace and justice amongst our Kind," Edgar calmly told him as he remained equanimous.

"Can't you at least stall the votes?" Kai appealed.

"I've been stalling the votes. The meeting was supposed to be in the next two weeks, but I stopped it. With all these Covens flooding into this world, I'm not sure how much longer I can stall her votes. You're pretty much out of time," Edgar conceded.

"If I'm out of time, then the Vampire Coven has to get past me to kill my wife!" Kai growled.

Edgar declared. "They will, Kai. After the votes, you and Orlando Mill are to be detained at the meeting. Then we will send the best Predatory vampires, who work for us, to execute your wife. After she is dead, then your father can awaken you if you wish. Otherwise, you'll go inside the glass coffin with your wife's body inside the hidden chamber we have at the Louvre Museum, and you'll never be awakened again."

Kai growled at Orlando's name even being mentioned. It irked him in the worst possible way that no one could imagine. He hardly heard the rest of what Edgar said because of the wretched name of his enemy.

"Why would Orlando be detained with me?" Kai inquired about this one as his ignoble feeling started to fuel him.

Edgar sighed as he replied. "Orlando is after your wife. He's been in her life since the day she was conceived. Hidden in the shadows, he watched her grow up from infancy. She may have disliked him as an infant, but he imprinted on her by protecting her daily. After she left the orphanage, his cousin Crystal befriended her, and somehow Orlando ended up gaining her heart for his family's evil scheme. You should also know, Morbius and his family are doing whatever they can to stop Victoria from dying as well."

"Don't remind me!" Kai gruffed at the thought that Orlando held Victoria's heart over him because he failed to raise her. "I should've known they'd do whatever it takes to ensure her life. This way, they can ruin her life in the end."

"Never mind about Orlando and his family. If Victoria dies, I will need to know what your decision is. You have three offspring to raise. Your sister volunteered that she'd give birth to them if Victoria died during her pregnancy," Mr. Collin asked his son, and yet, he remained quiet.

Unborn vamp babies still needed a female host to develop inside her womb. So Mr. Collin made sure to find a vampiress who would carry the triplets in case Victoria lost her life. Aunt Veronica was the first candidate to volunteer to carry her younger brother's triplets, and Mr. Collin was grateful that she would do it.

"If I lose Victoria, then our offspring and I are to be detained into a forever sleep," Kai sternly declared.

Behind him from the couch, Rome protested. "Isn't that too selfish! They'd never grow up. What if they have mates? On top of that, how are any of us supposed to thrive without you being our clan leader?"

Without turning his neck back to look at his friends standing behind the couch, Kai verified. "My family is large, Rome. You can join any of their clans. I won't stay awake without having my wife in my life. If she dies pregnant, then the babies are to remain in her womb. If she dies after labor, then I want to be awoken so I can detain my offspring."

After his response, Kai heard his friends sighing in heartache at the thought of losing him again. He understood they were in pain over his final decision, but more importantly, they understood how hard it was for him to wait for Victoria's birth.

"What about your mother?" Mr. Collin reasoned. "You'll break her heart if she loses her vamp grandbabies."

"You know I can't face losing Victoria. I won't raise them without her," Kai morosely whispered, and Edgar nodded to understand.

"That's all I needed to hear. For now, I wish you the best." Edgar frowned, standing from the couch as Kai and his dad did the same.

"Isn't there anything else you can do?" Kai asked one last time as he tried to cool off his bitter mood.

"I've done all that I can." Edgar stiffened his stern lips.

"You know she's innocent!" Kai gritted his fangs. "She isn't the cause of this chaos!"

"No, she isn't, but other Covens don't want you or Orlando having her because of the power she'll attain as a vampiress. Other Covens hate the Collin and the Mill Covens just as equally. Those Covens want neither of you to be the strongest Coven because of her." Edgar clarified.

"You'll let an innocent girl die! That doesn't sound like a Light to me! I'm the one who deserves to be detained because I slaughtered their female human mates and detained their offspring, but that shouldn't mean she should get the death penalty because these Covens hate me for what I did in the wars." Kai tried guilting him out, and Edgar sighed to calm himself.

"It's my wife against yours. If I tamper with her votes, then the Lights will detain me and my wife. Every vampire puts his mate first. I will do what I can, but I'm at my limit. These two vampiric wars have come back to haunt us all. As vampires, we've all been stained in the innocent blood of our victims. Now, all I can do is wish you all the best, and we better pray a Third World War doesn't transpire," Edgar exclaimed.

"You're a foreteller! At least use your gift of insight and see if Victoria is better off dead or alive in the future. Either way, war will come, and you know that." Kai pleaded as Edgar reached the door to leave.

After Edgar took another exhale, he twisted the doorknob, not saying a word about whether he would use his gift or not, and he left with his five advisors.

Honestly, if you want to know the whole storyline with how Orlando and his family tricked Victoria, it's explained throughout the first novel. Edgar's dialogue is a brief summary on how it went down, so I am not going to post any reference chapters since the story will touch base on some of the storylines for a recap. Thanks for the support of your powerstones, and please leave a review. Any support is greatly appreciated by me, so keep them coming to help me stay motivated and focused.
