I couldn't leave a host of alien ships swarming around the galaxy devouring resources so I sent my six minion ships out to find and attack every single one of those large mega ships and to report any time they encountered hostiles from anything. Yeah I had just launched a hunt for the big bastards and boy was I ready so I set out on my own covering a grid of stars searching like the others and soon I had my first report and it was odd the enemy vessel was dead in space the systems shut down and floating there so I told my minion to watch and wait and soon every single one of my ships reported the same so I figured I must have killed the brain of the operation. It was rather anticlimactic to find my foe already defeated so I ordered my ships to bring all of their finds out to a single point in dead space and then I set about studying them. In the end I realized that these big monstrosities proved to be no more than mindless drones which I decided needed to be repurposed so I set about my most ambitious design yet.
Designed to fight off a war bone of my other ships could fight I built my own dreadnought it was large enough that I ended up scaling up my plasma lances significantly and replaced my normal laser point defenses with shrunken plasma lances the ship could devastate a system single handedly and would shrug off a significant amount of firepower. My latest creation had its own 1g gravity field and was the size of a sun it was simply a sphere built to destroy any and everything that chose to attack it a fleet destroyer in the truest sense of the word. I had gone overboard that was for sure but it was beautiful in its own way though I certainly couldn't use it for exploration as even the most powerful version of an FTL drive I could create wouldn't be able to move the entire ship so it was entirely restricted to sunlight speeds.
I set up a respawn point in the ship essentially it had a brand new body ready for me when ever I chose to transfer to it and it was hooked into the communications system in such a way that if I did transfer via the FTL com I would automatically transfer to my new body. I was now almost completely immortal in a way that few would ever believe as long as I could send a signal I would never die it was exciting and amazing to think about. I had truly surpassed my humanity I had truly become a machine mind. I made a decision mankind deserved to know that the galaxy was not a safe place to explore and so I turned my Aegis around and went home.
I arrived at earth 571 years after I had left and I could tell immediately that something had happened as a few small habitats surrounded the planet and the earth was now mostly a browned wasteland inhospitable to life. I hailed the orbital habitats and eventually received a response from a older gentleman who basically told me that there was nothing to take but their lives and that they were the last of their people. I naturally was curious as to what exactly I had missed so using my best "human" voice I asked what happened and got a reply that read like a bad punchline basically earth had been invaded 200 years ago and only the fledgling mars colony and the orbital habitats were spared simply because there was nothing either could do. I decided that I might not be human anymore but I would not see the race that had given birth to me go extinct so I started building a massive moon sized habitat in orbit of mars I had to dust off the various life support files that I had collected over the years and then sort them into maintenance levels and efficiency and soon I found a winner that only required living people to consume and excrete waste it was very efficient and even provided a food source if you could get past the fact that you were eating food grown in your own waste and I even had a couple frozen samples of both the starter bacteria and the algae that were required for the system. The habitat took seven months to finalize and then another month of cajoling the various habitat dwellers to transfer to the new habitat and soon every orbital had been emptied and my new habitat was operating at full capacity I even left them some shuttles and the equipment to mine asteroids if they managed their resources well they would be living quite well I even installed a gravity system into the station set at 5% earth normal and it would gradually increase one percent a year until earth normal 1g.
Once humanity had a chance to survive I started looking for the beings that had wiped out earth and they didn't know it but this meant war and I was good at war.
