章 3: If It Works, I'll Use It.
"I'm the best fighter!" Dan exclaimed happily while walking to school today.
For context, a lot of nothing has happened since the fight Dan had with Zack. For the entire week he would challenge Dan to a fight after school. All attempts ending in disaster.
Unfortunately, unlike the first battle, Dan took a few critical hits, but by the last day of the week he could see every attack Zack threw at him. His body naturally got used to fighting.
And due to that, he now had a winning streak.
Which led Dan to one conclusion,
"I'm the best fighter!" He happily shouted, ignoring the looks various onlookers directed his way.
"Hey hand," Dan paused to ask a question. "Has anything interesting happened recently?"
There was a long pause before the anticipated reply.
"Well," The voice started. "Your hair's been growing back recently-"
Dan immediately faceplanted.
After Dan reached the school building, he was immediately greeted with hostile gazes from his teachers. He never failed to be late...
For now, they could do nothing but watch him, since it was lunch time.
In the cafeteria, everyone was free to separate into their cliques and groups, leaving Dan confused as to where he should sit.
That's when he overheard a conversation.
"He's pretty," A voice laced with delinquency and authority said. "But I'm much better looking, right guys?" He asked his crew about the new student, Daniel Park.
It was the infamous Vin Jin, a notorious no life. He wore a hat and dark sunglasses, all allowed due to his school department Dan supposed. Dan didn't even know which department his class belonged to, so...
"Zack," He spoke once more, neglecting the answer to his previous question. "I heard you lost in your class, what happened tough guy?" He asked mockingly.
"Well, I lost to scrawny boy," Dan's eye visibly twitched at Zack's statement. "But I could take you any day."
"Hey, you wanna die?" Vin asked, obviously angry.
Immediately after Vin had finished speaking, an insanely fast fist flew his way, stopping just short of his face.
Zack smirked at his temporary display of strength.
'That was close...' Vin thought. 'I almost blew him away.'
When looking at the bigger picture, yes Zack's fist was inches away from Vin's face, but Vin's palm had reached the area of Zack's heart just before it did.
The whole cafeteria was in a dead lock before another voice spoke up.
"That was close," Dan exclaimed, in the middle of the two with his leg poised at Vin's neck. "If you had continued with that attack, I might've just blown you away." He said with a seemingly innocent smile.
Despite the annoyances of Zack, Dan was quite satisfied "sparring" him every once in a while. He supposed this was a repayment of keeping him from getting too bored in this new world.
The cafeteria immediately broke into a room filled with murmurings of the fight going on right now
"What?" A deep voice that surely belonged to a teacher spoke up, responding to the rumors. "A fight? Surely not."
The voice belonged to the gangster, Vasco, who was surrounded by his right hand man and the rest of his crew.
His tatted body didn't serve to hide his muscular frame that was even more on display due to the tank-top he was wearing.
"Mind your business," Dan stated while glancing at Vasco. "I'm going to bully him into submission."
'This guy doesn't know how to mind his business.' Dan thought.
But really, all his warning served to do was trigger Vasco.
"Hey," He started talking to Dan. "Just because you're strong, doesn't mean you can fool around!"
Vasco had covered the distance easily due to the threeway deadlock between Zack, Vin, and Dan. Neither of them wanted to move and lose their advantage, and neither of them wanted to make the first move.
By this point, Vasco was now face to face with Dan, who was still holding his stance.
Taking his hands out of his pockets, he placed his hand on Dan's shoulder, causing Dan to crumple to the floor on his knees immediately.
'The squeeze of death.' Exclaimed Jace Park, Vasco's partner. 'It's undefeated and undefeatable. I expected more from someone who beat Zack in one hit though, guess it was just hype.'
The pain Dan felt was unbelievable, and the embarrassment was even worse than the pain. He almost felt himself crying for help.
"S..sorry." A timid voice stuttered. "But that's enough, you've both helped me, but this is too far." He stated before lifting Vasco's hand off of Dan's shoulder.
Dan looked up to see his savior, Daniel Park.
Dan felt like a fool, did he even need saving that one time in class. He got played like an idiot huh? Just to make someone else look stronger. Who was he kidding, the best fighter?
"You're pretty and strong, but you need to learn your place." Vasco said, balling up his fist. Daniel, meanwhile, is oblivious by the malicious intent packed behind those words.
"This is all just a misunderstanding." Daniel smiled at Vasco, trying to calm him down. "Vin was actually the one to start this whole thing!"

His voice was unheard by Dan, who was currently rushing at him.
A well placed fist knocked (???) back, and Dan capitalized on his stunned state to sweep his legs from under him.
|Skill Activation: Axe Kick!| Dan thought while kicking at the fallen body of (???).
All of those "sparring" sessions with Zack truly did have a use. Getting him used to his new techniques. And while thinking of the skill didn't necessarily help him use it, it made it easier for him mentally.
Who would believe they had mastered a martial arts technique in the middle of a fight without the help of a skill or system?
