But just as Ryu and Seraphina were about to move, an arm appeared in the maintenance hole.

Everyone took a sharp intake of breath and stared their undebated attention at the being who was crawling out of the hole. 

Only Ryu approached that hand and helped that person out of the tunnel.

"Thanks," Kai sighed with an exhausted breath. "That was brutal." His face was covered with dirt and smoke before his eyes flung wide open upon realizing that it was Ryu who helped him and not Seraphina.

"Ryu!" Kai cried in surprise.

He must be really exhausted not to notice that the hand he was grabbing was bigger and rougher.

The others breathed a loud sigh of relief, but their relief was cut short at the appearance of the cheerleader zombie who blinked behind Kai without anyone noticing.
