"( ⊙ o ⊙ ) Huh? Midoriya, what are you talking about?!"
Togata Mirio, confused, watched as Midoriya silently pulled something from his tool belt — a black sphere with a skull drawn on it.
"Mirio-senpai... have you decided you still want to continue fighting?"
"......"
Togata Mirio remained silent, and the proctor, Aizawa Shouta, also stayed silent. He quickly turned and left the exam room, planning to confirm the results via the cameras later.
In the waiting room, everyone fell silent when they saw Midoriya Izuku pull out the dark explosive. The disastrous incident during the support course activity had already become known to the whole school...
A new legend spread around U.A. High School: "When Midoriya Izuku pulls out a black explosive with a skull on it, run as fast as you can and as far as you can. If not... you'll witness hell!"
---
"Midoriya... you don't have to do this. I just wanted to test your abilities..."
"No more talking. Either let me go, or we go down together!!"
Togata Mirio tried to talk him down, but Midoriya Izuku, with unwavering determination, held the black explosive in front of him, ready to throw it on the ground at any moment — definitely the behavior of a villain... ruthless, not saying much, and acting immediately when he says it's over.
"Alright... you win."
Togata Mirio raised his hands in surrender. There was nothing he could do against the terrifying weapon Midoriya had pulled out... it was best to just pretend nothing had happened.
"Sorry..."
Midoriya put the black explosive back into his tool belt and quickly ran toward the battle zone's exit, leaving Togata Mirio standing there, awkward and helpless.
In the end, Shinso Hitoshi and Midoriya Izuku both scored 30 points by escaping the battle area, for a total of 60 points, passing the final practical exam.
---
The final exams passed just like that. Aside from a few unfortunate students, most of the hero course students passed the exam. Now, their summer activities were scheduled.
The forest training camp: This time, both Class A and Class B would go for a week of camp. The reason for mixing the classes was to help the students get to know each other better beforehand to avoid friction during the camp.
"Midoriya-kun, let's go shopping at the mall this weekend. There are quite a few things we need to buy for the camp."
"Mm!"
Uraraka Ochako invited him, but in fact, it was a group activity for the entire Class A. So, Midoriya didn't hesitate to agree. If it had been a personal invitation from her... Midoriya probably would have braced himself for a storm.
"Midoriya, by the way, are you bringing your gear?"
"Mm, Aizawa-sensei said this forest camp is a training session, so he wants me to bring everything I might need."
---
"Sigh... I thought we'd finally get a chance to relax."
Takeyama Urei sighed. With all the recent school activities and internships, she had hoped to take a break during the summer.
---
On the weekend, the holiday for U.A. High School students, Class A gathered at the mall on time. They met in front of the statue of All Might in the plaza. Since it was "the symbol of peace," many malls had the statue of All Might placed there.
"Midoriya, do you have anything specific you want to buy?"
"Let's go together, we can do some shopping."
After class representative Iida Tenya let the students pair up, Ochako and Takeyama Urei approached Midoriya, inviting him to join them for a trip to the mall.
"No need for that... I have to bring mechanical armor this time, and I've only packed extra clothes. My mom already prepared everything else for me."
Midoriya awkwardly replied to the two girls. Takeyama Urei and Ochako were slightly disappointed but quickly cheered up, deciding to go shopping on their own.
"No way... the class activity can't be missed either."
Even though he didn't need to buy anything, Midoriya couldn't just leave his classmates hanging, so he showed up at the mall to meet up. However, now he found himself with nothing to do.
"All Might..."
With nothing else to do, Midoriya stood in front of the All Might statue. As he looked at the smiling face of the hero he admired most, a smile appeared on his own face too. He was on his way to becoming a great hero, just like All Might.
"Do you admire All Might?"
A calm male voice suddenly came from behind Midoriya. Curiously, Midoriya turned around and saw a man dressed in a suit with a gentleman's hat. His face was wrapped in bandages, leaving even his eyes covered. The man looked very unusual.
"Yeah? All the people in Japan admire him, so of course I do too."
Although Midoriya didn't know who the man was, he answered anyway; it wasn't something he needed to hide.
"I see..."
The man with bandages raised his head, seemingly looking at the All Might statue, and said with a hint of regret:
"I thought you might not like heroes, considering this society really discriminates against people with no Quirk, don't you think—'Steel Wire Death God'?"
"Uh..." Midoriya wasn't particularly surprised to have his identity recognized since his information had been exposed during the U.A. Sports Festival. But the man's question was rather odd.
"How could I not like heroes? If I didn't, I wouldn't have applied to U.A. High School. I want to become a great hero."
"I see, such a noble goal. But why do you want to be a hero?"
The man with bandages asked, genuinely curious:
"For money? For fame? Or do you want to be a hero like All Might?"
The man's question was a bit strange, but Midoriya didn't hesitate. He had known his answer for a long time:
"I want to be a hero who can protect others' smiles."
The man with bandages paused for a moment, then burst out laughing.
"Hahaha... Interesting! This is really interesting!"
"Uh... is my wish that funny?"
Midoriya scratched his head awkwardly, while the bandaged man stopped laughing and, with his blind gaze, looked at Midoriya and said happily:
"It's not that. Your wish is very noble. Maybe one day, you'll even surpass All Might!"
"Well, I don't think so... it's just my selfish wish. Right now, I can't even do anything well."
Midoriya felt embarrassed by the man's praise. It was the first time someone had spoken so highly of him.
"I should go now. It was really fun meeting you today."
The bandaged man turned to leave, and after a moment's hesitation, Midoriya decided to say goodbye... After all, it felt right to return the kind words.
"Uh... goodbye, unknown sir."
"Goodbye, huh?"
The Bandaged Man paused for a moment after hearing Midoriya Izuku's farewell, then continued to walk forward, a terrifying smile spreading across his face.
"Indeed, 'Goodbye' it is!"
