They had gotten to the top of the hill, and they were walking towards the entrance of the forest. Ye Jin suddenly giggled as she reached out to take the still-wrapped sword in the basket.
Xi Ming had seen it earlier and asked what it was. She had lied that it was wood, though it was obvious he didn't believe her, but he did not probe further. Her hand touched the hilt of the sword, but then she paused and dropped her head.
Now wasn't the right time to give him the sword.
Xi Ming, noticing that Ye Jin was no longer by his side, paused and looked back to see Ye Jin looking at him with a complicated expression.
Why was she looking at him like that?
"What is wrong?" he asked, a puzzled expression on his face.
"Oh, it's nothing," Ye Jin replied and quickly walked to catch up to him.
Xi Ming stared intensely at her.
Ye Jin was keeping something from him.
He did not like it one bit.
