章 17: Mental Cue, and The Monster in You

Just as Jyorta began to prepare, the blue soul suddenly sent in a group of memory fragments into his brain, forcing it to process it immediately. For a moment, he was stunned, pausing in his action as the blue soul had acted abruptly.

It had taken action when he hadn't thought about it or had directed it beforehand. It was odd, almost causing his heart to leap in fear. But, during the couple of seconds it took for him to process the state of things, his eyes lit up as he shuddered in fear, "Oh my goodness, just what have I been thinking of doing now?"

He hurriedly seeped his psychic arm into the goggles, activating it to unleash a beam of light that lit up the projection of his mind, casting it behind him. His Soul Corneas then turned jet black as he activated his corrosion, corroding all the influence the Spindle Bee memories had implanted in his mind.

Within a minute, he returned to his normal self. But, as he thought of his earlier actions, he began to feel that they weren't all…that bad. Such a thought frightened him. People change as they experience many things and as their horizons are widened.

As for Jyorta, following every comprehension session, his horizons would broaden, widely so. Thanks to that, his thought process had already changed alarmingly as compared to before. And now, the mentality of the Spindle Bees had affected him.

The direct effect had been eradicated. But, as he had lived through the Spindle Bee memory fragments, he understood the advantages of their lifestyle. So, his aversion to his recent thoughts was less than what he would have felt a couple of hours ago.

Such was the drastic change in mental growth he was experiencing. The experience was changing him, alarmingly so, abruptly after every session. "I don't even know what I would become when I reach higher Tiers as a Psychic Parasite."

Even he, as someone with the ability of corrosion, and also possessing the ability of Deific Inference to aid him was having this much trouble, then he dared not think about what Gajara Rahi had gone through.

After all, her ability as a Psychic Parasite was the power of space, relating to teleportation. Moreover, she had grown during the years when Deific Inference wasn't even a thing, and when external helpful items were little to none in the department of the mind.

"Just how screwed up is her mind?" As he thought of it, Jyorta shuddered, wishing to never encounter Laila ever again, "It is a wonder that she was able to behave like a regular human teenager."

Soon, he fell into deep thought, "Every time I do this, the risks are great. And the more I understand about a race, the greater I would be immersed in their memories, and the harder it would become to break out of that mould. If I proceed in this manner, sooner or later, I would commit something that I would regret for the rest of my life."

"Just my memories are proving insufficient. Adding onto my past and present life, the total is only around 40 years' worth. This is insufficient, considering my comprehension of Frenzy Beast memory fragments has already surpassed a century. Mentally speaking, I'm already more Frenzy Beast than a human." Sighing, he thought, "Thankfully, humans are complex creatures too. So, I'm able to handle everything to a certain extent. We are both the greatest of the kindest saints and the cruellest of the most vicious devils."

He then decided, "I need to obtain more memory fragments of humans. This way, I can keep the influence of the Frenzy Beasts on my mind in check and ensure my thought processes conform to the general circle of humanity's operations."

"That should be the best method." He thought, sighing in relief, "Thankfully, I have my secondary job to be thankful for. A month later, I'll have enough opportunities to balance my mind. Until then, I'll have to hold on and proceed forth accordingly."

The reason he was able to break free of the Spindle Bee influence was a mental cue he had left behind in the blue soul. Once he exits the immersion, it was supposed to send in a bunch of memory fragments into his brain and force it to comprehend them all.

As it was his memory fragments, it was bound to cause him to think clearly and notice the changes to his mentality. That way, he'll immediately use the goggles to shed off the influence in his mind.

Moreover, there were numerous layers of mental cues he had left behind. This way, he ensured that he wouldn't run out of control even by mistake. Being careful was a necessity, especially considering his power.

Like before, had he not resolved the issue thanks to the mental cue, he would have gone about inserting memory fragments in the minds of everyone he came across and subtly change them. Eventually, he would be the cause that reshaped human society, causing it to collapse.

After all, beyond a certain point, once the group of people affected by him grew into a sizeable number, Marble City would definitely notice them. After all, the conflict of interest and the mindset between the two groups would be completely different.

This would spark a war that would annihilate the group he had created. After all, he didn't have the means to penetrate the minds of people above Tier 3. So, those he was capable of influencing were only the weaker section of humans.

His actions would only result in the weakening of humanity and shake up their foundation. Moreover, as the cause for the chaos, he would be killed viciously.

Sighing, Jyorta meditated, beginning to comprehend more Spindle Bee memory fragments once he ensured all the mental cues were in place. Thankfully for him, he had enough energy to do so. Moreover, when he was resting his mind while relying on Regen to do so, Jyorta also began to stockpile his reserve of tattoos, intending to be prepared for the event when he would obtain the Tier 4 Relic—containing Bone Devour.

He wished to spike his Sync Rate to 100 percent using it. But, it was odd, for three days had passed by and Jyovic Bone hadn't returned. There were less than five hours to the appointed time.

"I should check and see what's up." Muttering, Jyorta got up, leaving a note behind at the place as he exited it, reaching the counter at the lobby to notice someone familiar seated behind it.
