Emily's POV.

I could hear Waylen's friends throw jabs at Dicky over the unfortunate electrocution event earlier. I tried to ignore them as we were driven to the orphanage where Waylen was holding my kids.

I tried to feel something other than anger. I tried to understand why someone like my husband could flee with our children.

I mean Waylen isn't the fleeing kind. He is a considerate and compassionate person who is selfless to a point.

That's the Waylen I remember.

I was still lost in my head when Joey spoke in whispers to me.

"He didn't mean to hurt you, Emily. He panicked and he did a stupid thing and as soon as he could, he called me and confessed to it. It's the whole reason we went to your house. To wait and explain to you that he did a stupid thing and it wasn't meant to hurt you. He simply…panicked"
