章 6: A Date With The Fairy Princess
Pokemon: Wandering Soul Chapter 6
Hello and welcome to Chapter 6!
I am very sorry to those readers in my fanfic that has to put up with my spelling and grammar mistakes. I thought that Grammarly would automatically correct the misspelled like "Snow blushed from the stairs they were giving her." In that sentence, it is supposed to be 'stares.'
I need to avoid these types of mistakes.
"Hey, Hunter," Soul called his owl friend. His best friend then looked up to him.
"Do I look good?" The Decidueye looked at his trainer and scanned him then did a 'thumbs' up. Soul smiled and looked at the mirror. He still had his headphones with him, along with the Keystone necklace. He wore-
(Okay, I don't know how to describe what he is wearing but look at the cover of the fanfiction. That is what he is wearing now but his polo is fully buttoned along with the neat tie. I know he looks like he goes to school but yeah, sorry to all of you.)
Hunter smiled at his trainer, finally getting what he deserved. What he was referring to is not the 'romantic' kind of love but recognition. Soul finally found some to care about him and vise versa. He then looked at the watch that Soul was going to wear with his attire. Hunter sneaked a peek at the time and looked at it in horror.
"DECIDUEYE!" Hunter shrieked as he quickly approached Soul and fixed his attire. Soul then blinked and 'magically', his clothes were now fixed. He was then pulled by Hunter as the owl readied a ball of Ghost-type energy and tossed it to the ground. A big shadow engulfs them as they appeared near the Lavere Gym with no one noticing, much to their luck.
Meanwhile at the Gym...
"You girls... don't you think this is too much?" Valerie said as she looked at herself in the mirror. The kimono girls stopped and looked at their Gym Leader then at themselves. They sighed in disappointment at the same time.
"U-Uhm, can I try something?" One of the shyest members of the kimono girls inquired as all of them looked at her and gave a nod. She also nodded and went to were Valerie was sitting. She took a deep breath and took a box of make-up remover as quickly applied it.
(I don't know how make-up works because I am a guy who isn't interested in the topic of aesthetics.)
Then the shy girl dashed out of the room but quickly returned with clothes. Everyone still waited patiently as she took Valerie to a changing room.
It wasn't much of a change because it looked the same as her Gym Leader attire, the wings were now replaced by white sleeves.
"Hm, simple but beautiful." One of the older girls said as they eyed the choice of clothing the shy girl gave. Valerie on the other hand was ecstatic and happy with the choice of clothing. She didn't look too flashy nor too dull. All the girls screamed in happiness until they heard one of the girls shout.
"HE IS HERE!" All the girls froze leaving Valerie confused. They all went to their places with one dragging Valerie out of the room as quickly as possible.
Soul entered the Gym with Hunter in his shadow. He was about to go inside the part of the building when he heard loud steps that made him stop in his tracks. Gradually, the steps became quieter until it came to a complete stop. Soul did a little gulp and slowly entered the battlefield only to be met by a dozen kimono girls.
"Welcome, Soul Ecto." They said at the same time. They bowed and split up. in the middle of the battlefield, there stood Valerie. She had a blush and a smile. Soul just stood there staring. Hunter wanted to laugh so bad but he held it in. Hunter tugged Soul's shadow again as his trainer seemed to get out of his trance and just stood there, nervous.
Valerie giggled and approached Soul while he froze in response. Hunter sighed and created a Shadow Claw behind Soul and hit him on the head and pushed him forward.
"Good luck!" All the kimono girl said while the others laughed and went to their places. They just needed to put up a 'closed' sign on their Gym and say that their Gym Leader is on break.
"...Shall we go?" Soul said as he reached a hand to Valerie as she smiled and accepted the gesture. Hunter was amused by this and maybe he can get some inspiration so that the next 'date' he has with Snow will become better.
They left the gym with some people noticing them. The males became entranced by Valerie and glared at Soul who was oblivious from their stares while the women were smiling at their Gym Leader finally finding someone. Valerie guided Soul to where they will eat. It was in Florges Cafe.
(Imagine Starbucks but the logo will be a Florges. Fitting that it is in the place where the Fairy-type gym resides, right?)
They went inside and opened the door that had a door chime so when they came in, the people inside stared at who came in. The male's eyes widened in surprise and completely forgot Soul was beside Valerie and only focused on her. Hunter scoffed in Soul's shadow, disgusted by them. The cashier saw them and smiled and called a waiter to guide them. The waiter nodded and was about to stand but was stopped by a hand. The waiter was confused but stopped when he saw who stopped him, it was the manager. The manager looked at the waiter and said.
"I got this, young lad."
The waiter nodded and the manager approached Valerie and Soul. Soul and Valerie noticed and bowed towards the old man. The old man let out a hearty laugh.
"Welcome, Miss Valerie. Your girls reserved a space at the VIP area. To be honest. I didn't expect you to make a reservation in this simple cafe." He said in a stern voice. He was about to continue but he stopped and cleared his throat.
"Ah, pardon my manners. I am Harold, the one who owns this humble abode." He said while doing a small bow. Valerie reassured Harold that this place is more than enough eliciting a small smile from him.
"Well, I will leave you to it. Oh, and lad..." The old man said now talking to Soul. Soul became nervous at the change of tone Harold took. Harold then did the same thing as Gurkinn and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Take care of her..." Harold said now looking at the flustered Fairy-type Gym Leader. Soul became silent but eventually showed a small smile and nodded. The old man now gestured the waiter to guide them to the VIP area. The waiter nodded and guided them.
The males on the background glared at the fading image of Soul. On the other hand, one male with long orange and red hair grinned.
After a few seconds, the waiter guided them to the VIP room. Soul and Valerie enter the room but first ordered their food. They both took a seat face to face and the waiter left them.
There was a comfortable silence as Valerie twirled a small part of her while looking at the ground while Soul was nervous. The waiter then came back with food on hand and gave it to them. They ate and after a few minutes finished.
The silence was there again until Hunter decided to help and made a small shadow spike and poked Soul making him wince and glare at his shadow. He sighed gaining the attention of Valerie.
"So, what did you do before becoming a Gym Leader?" Soul decided to start a conversation. Valerie seemed to relax and decided to talk.
"Before I became a Gym Leader, I was a shrine maiden in Ecruteak." She said. Old memories filled her head when she was a young girl, standing in front of their shrine. Soul seemed to notice and kept silent but had a small smile. Valerie blushed but continued talking.
(She is 14 years old in this flashback thingy. She is about to be 19 right now so she is slightly older than Soul by a year. What? It is my fanfic.)
"My mother is the head of the shrine that we stayed in. She wanted me to inherit it and to continue the tradition..." A small frown appeared on her face. Soul was now nervous because he doesn't know what to do in these situations so he decided to act on instinct. He saw her hand was on the table so he hesitantly put a hand over hers which surprised her and made her blush. She smiled at Soul who smiled as well.
"I wanted to be... more. I wanted to make a name in the fashion world so I didn't want to. My mother and father were mad at me and still wanted me to become the Head Shrine Maiden. I still didn't want to so I decided to run away from home, I was a stubborn child." She said. Soul tightened his hold on her hand to comfort her a bit.
"I went into the forest until I met a Teddiursa. I approached it and it cried. I wanted to say it was fine and I wasn't going to hurt it. I was then met by its parent, an Ursaring..." She said with tears slowly coming out from her eyes which made Soul and Hunter nervous.
'Making a girl cry at their first meeting? You are so good Soul...' Soul thought to himself which made him bite his lower lip.
Soul then tightened his hold on Valerie again as she relaxed but had tears didn't stop.
"I was about to be attacked only to be saved by my father's Victreebel. My mother was there and ran to me and hugged me tightly. She said sorry to me. I didn't know why she apologized. I was supposed to be the one to apologize. We eventually returned home and was met by a woman from Kalos. She was a famous fashion designer that visited the shrine." She said with a small frown. She stopped and took a breath and made a smile at Soul.
"She accidentally saw my sketches of kimonos and loved them. She then offered me to take me to Kalos to join the fashion world. I was surprised by that but what my mother said made me hesitate. What my mother said shocked me... she told me to take the offer. She said 'You want to fulfill your dreams right?'. I took the offer and flew to Kalos and that is how I got here. I then eventually became a Gym Leader and replaced the one who retired." She said.
"I question myself. What if I have chosen to be a shrine maiden and gave up on my dream? What if I didn't run...? What would have happened if I didn't get saved by my f-father...?" She continued and finally broke down crying. Soul froze at the scene of Valerie crying. Hunter was really worried right now until he noticed his trainer standing up and sitting beside Valerie. Valerie noticed and looked at Soul confused and sniffled a bit. Soul then hugged Valerie tightly surprising her as she slowly went into crying again as she hugged him also. Hunter's beak dropped in amazement. He smirked and kept silent.
(I know this isn't cannon but hey, I wanted a sad backstory...)
A few minutes of crying, Valerie eventually stopped but still sniffled. Soul then took a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the tears from Valerie making her blush but let him wipe her tears. She stared at Soul who gave her a reassuring smile which made her heart skip a beat. She felt warm hands cup her cheek as Soul continued wiping her tears.
Soul then finished wiping her tears. He got a good look on her face and one thought came into his mind...
"Beautiful..."
Valerie blushed madly and steam came out from her ears. Soul then blinked and mentally slapped himself.
'I just said that out loud, didn't I?' He said feeling his shadow laugh. Soul had no energy to glare at the shadow.
"Thank you..." She said, now smiling. Soul smiled also and still sat beside her and decided to talk.
"Since you shared your life, I will share mine," Soul said. Valerie stared at him and took his right hand with her left. Soul smiled at the gesture. Hunter on the other hand was curious because he doesn't know the life of his trainer.
"I wasn't from Alola... I lived in Kanto." He said revealing his origins. Valerie kept silent and let him continue.
"I was forced to move because of my parents... getting a divorce. I ended up being with my mother. My mother is an Alolan, so I was Half Kantonian/Half Alolan. She went to Alola and stayed there. I didn't know why they divorced but I soon learned the truth..." Soul said as he stared at the ceiling with dull eyes. Valerie gasped at the information and tightened her hold on his hand and ended up connecting them. She blushed but shook her head.
"She had been poisoned by a Beedrill that ended up flowing through her blood one day. It was minor but my family didn't have enough money. My father gave up on her because he couldn't pay. He chickened out. After a week in Alola, the poison became stronger and made her faint. I couldn't do anything but just stare at her unconscious body. Our neighbor was visiting and called an ambulance. I was brought to the hospital with her. She got a check-up and it was too late..." Soul said as he closed his eyes in anger. Hunter was listening and went silent. he didn't know that his trainer had it hard. Valerie also stayed silent and felt his hand grip onto hers like his life depended on it to which she allowed.
"The doctor said that she should have died weeks ago but her willpower made her reach this far. It was because of me that she forced herself to that point. She woke up and said her last words to me with a huge smile, 'Don't become like your failure of a father, ok? Be a man that a mother could be proud of.'. She still had a huge grudge on him. I cried myself to sleep that day..." He said with a sad smile remembering the last words of his mother, she still had a smile even though she was at death's door. He looked at the ground with dull eyes. He clutched his head with one hand as he felt a headache coming. He then suddenly felt hands on his head that pulled his head to a soft pillow.
'Wait, pillow?' He thought as he saw Valerie's face above him. He was what people would call it, a lap pillow.
Valerie looked down at him with sad eyes. Soul's dull eyes returned to its normal color. He became silent and just accepted the gesture. Soon, a smile appeared on Valerie's face as she caressed his hair.
A comfortable silence filled the room as the 2 stared into each other's eyes and smiled.
Soul and Valerie left the room and decided to pay in person to the cashier. Valerie had her arms wrapped around Soul's left as she had a beautiful smile on her face. Soul on the other hand was relaxed with her. Hunter was still silent in his shadow trying to not disrupt the relaxing aura that Soul was showing.
Some males saw them and looked at Valerie who was happy. They then glared at Soul but felt a chill came to their spine. They eventually laid their eyes on Soul's shadow who had eyes, glaring at them. They all froze from the glare and went to their own business.
They were then met by the manager who saw Valerie holding Soul's arm. He had an amused smile and was met by both Valerie and Soul's. He chuckled and looked at them straight in the eyes.
"It looks like it was a success!" He said with a hearty laugh. He then bowed and approached them.
"You don't have to pay, so you can continue your little date." He said smirking at Soul. Soul's jaw dropped and was about to retort until he was met by Harold's stern voice.
"I, insist."
Soul nodded his head quickly while Valerie giggled and they went on their way to a park. Valerie still had her arms wrapped around one of his as they were noticed by the people there. There were so many couples there that stared at him. One guy stared at Valerie only to be hit by the head with a purse by his girlfriend.
(I know that all these places don't exist in Lavere City but remember, it is my fanfic. I won't remind you of this again.)
They then saw a bench and decided to take a short rest. They sat beside each other with Valerie leaning on Soul with a blush. They both decided to let out their Pokemon. Valerie's Spritzee was racing around with the 2 Dreepy that were on Zephyr's head with both him and Cynder supervising. Sylveon on the other hand was having a conversation with Mimik and Aegislash. Mawile was admiring Snow with Hunter nodding in approval.
Some kids noticed their Pokemon and had stars on their eyes. Two kids approached Valerie and Soul, a girl and a boy.
"C-Can I please get an autograph?" The little girl said to Valerie while holding a piece of paper. She softly smiled and signed it.
"WOAH! YOUR POKEMON ARE SO COOL MISTER!" The little boy shouted in glee seeing Soul's Pokemon. Soul chuckled nervously at the boy's attitude. Their parents rushed to them and apologized. They left while the girl was smiling, happy to get her idol's autograph while the boy was pouting on not getting to meet Soul's cool Pokemon. Both Valerie and Soul looked at each other and shared a little laugh. Valerie leaned closer to Soul as they both relaxed.
A few comfortable minutes pass as Valerie's head was on Soul's shoulder. Soul was looking at the sky with a small smile.
"Hey, SOUL!" A guy with long orange and red hair shouted. Valerie abruptly woke up and noticed her head was on his shoulder. She blushed but had a small smile. They both turned to the one who called Soul. He wore a red jacket that was covered in images of fire that went with his red pants and orange shoes.
Soul looked at the direction to who was yelling at him. Soul's eyes went wide as he waved in response.
"Nice to see you, Blaze," Soul said to the man who is known as Blaze. Blaze smiled in response and noticed Valerie who was looking at him weirdly. Blaze smirked then approached the two.
"You didn't tell me you were going to Kalos." He said with a grin. Soul scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Haha... I thought I did?" Soul said trying to feign ignorance. He was then met by Blaze's unamused face.
"Since you forgot... YOU HAVE TO PAY WITH A POKEMON BATTLE!" Blaze yelled as he showed an Ultra Ball towards Soul. Soul then looked at him then looked back at Valerie. Blaze's grin froze then turned into a wry smile.
"Oh, sorry for interrupting..." Suddenly, a small rain cloud appeared above Blaze's head as he sighed and was about to leave. Valerie giggled getting the attention of Soul and Blaze.
"It is fine, you should accept the battle Soul. Your friend here is very excited to meet with you again AND you forgot to tell him that you left Alola." Valerie said to Soul. He sighed and smiled at Valerie and made her blush. He turned to Blaze who had stared at him with hopeful eyes.
"I accept," Soul said as the rain cloud on Blaze's head turned into a rainbow. You can even see a small pot filled with gold at the end of it.
"YEAH!" Blaze said as he punched the air. Everyone at the park looked at him weirdly then ignored him.
"You are very lucky to have her, Soul." He said with a smirk at Soul who looked at Valerie with a smile.
Valerie and Soul returned their Pokemon then walked with Blaze until they reached a small arena. They entered and there were some people glaring at Soul, AGAIN, because Valerie was holding his hand. Both Blaze and Soul took their places with Valerie sitting on the sidelines.
"This is going to be a double battle, is this fine for you?" Blaze said with a grin. Soul nodded and readied 2 Pokeballs. Blazed smirked and released 2 huge Pokemon. All the spectators gasped along with Valerie. Soul narrowed his eyes on the 2 Pokemon and frowned.
A Moltres and A Heatran.
"This time, I will win!" Blaze said as his Pokemon let out their respective cries.
Soul's frown slowly turned into a grin.
This will be a hard battle.

Is this romance part fine? I wanted some drama in this so I made up her backstory. I don't know about Soul's backstory so please give me a similar backstory to this one.
You guys like the OC? Be prepared on the battle and as you have guessed, Blaze is a Fire-type trainer. They both met on Ula' Ula Island.
I didn't want you guys to leave you on a large cliffhanger so I decided to reveal the Pokemon that Soul will be fighting because I may lose the people who liked reading this.
Other info, I forced myself to write this because my class was given a huge assignment to work on so it will take a really long time before I make another chapter.
In short, until I finish my assignment, I won't be able to write.
Anyway, I plan to do another Pokemon fanfic. Please tell me if you like another fanfic where the MC is already OP or a 'gradual' strength one. I am taking tips from an author who is used to writing MC's who have flaws or 'problems' like someone being too cocky and another one being cold to others and lastly, the super naive one.
I can't write the naive one sadly.
