章 7: Chp 7: Aura

"Knock! Knock!"

Vic got up from the bed and rubbed his eyes, thinking who was knocking outside his home. Ever since Nicole and Grandma Cici left, no other people had come to his house.

When he opened the door, he was surprised to see Kevin, the gangster he met last night. He was sweating and panting slightly, carrying a big bag that looked quite heavy on his back.

"Oh, it's you, come on in." Vic remembered what he asked of Kevin the night before and quickly invited him inside.

Kevin removed his shoes and stepped into the room. He placed the bag on the couch and had a look around. The living room was sparsely furnished with just a table, a couch, and a huge box in one corner that appeared to contain personal items.

Then, his eyes fell on the Pokemon that he saw the previous evening. Zorua, perceiving that he was being watched, turned around and caught Kevin's eyes moving away from him. He let out a cold snort and continued dozing off.

"Did you bring them?" It was at this moment Vic came to him after closing the door.

"Yes," Kevin nodded, unzipping the bag and opening it for Vic to see. "These are the berries that you need. Oran berries, Pecha berries… all of them are here. If it's not enough, I'll send more over."

"That's fine. This should be enough. I'll call you if I need anything else."

After a brief conversation, Kevin said goodbye to Vic and left. Vic nodded in approval as he watched Kevin walking away. If he had a chance later in the future, he didn't mind helping Kevin become a trainer. That is, if he remained loyal to him.

After that, he closed the door behind him and went to his room before walking back out with a bag in his hand. He set it down on a table, and took out the Pokeblock Blender he bought yesterday.

Vic installed the blender's parts according to the manual's instructions, set it on the table, and then went to sort the berries Kevin had sent him. He suddenly felt a little uneasy as he stared at the pile of berries and the blender in front of him.

He had studied Grandma Cici's notes numerous times, but creating a pokeblock was still rather challenging. The pokeblock recipe was created by Grandma Cici after numerous tries.

Vic assumed that he could make it work by just following the steps as written in the recipe. However, pokeblock making was not quite as easy as it seemed.

After failing for the umpteenth time, Vic turned off the blender and cleaned up the pile of wasted berries inside the tray. He then began to disassemble the blender to see if there was anything wrong.

Vic didn't think there was any problem with the recipe. Grandma Cici's pokeblock was very well known in this city. Many trainers had even bought them. So, there must be something wrong with the blender.

He very carefully removed the blender's casing and, being extremely careful not to touch any of the tiny components, thoroughly examined the internal structure for fear of missing anything.

After checking it several times, Vic didn't find anything wrong at all. Everything was in working order. He became a little frustrated because if he couldn't solve the problem, he wouldn't be able to make pokeblocks. This would impact his future plans.

When VIc was racking his brain on how to repair the machine, Zorua, who was lying next to the window, trotted over and nudged him with his paw. Vic noticed Zorua and saw him pointing at the power supply unit.

At first glance, he didn't think there was anything wrong with the power supply. However, as soon as Zorua pointed it out to him, he caught a fleeting whiff of something burning.

Vic grabbed his screwdriver and started unscrewing the screws on the power supply unit. After removing the cover, he noticed what appeared to be tangled wires. There were signs of burning in the casing. Some of the wires had already been replaced with new ones.

It appeared someone had tried to repair this thing, but didn't do a good job of it. When he switched the machine on, everything seemed to be fine. There was no problem whatsoever.

However, when he attempted to make another pokeblock, he suddenly found out that the power supply was not enough. Even after discovering the problem, Vic was still disheartened because, despite his best efforts, he was unable to come up with a workable solution.

Most Pokeblock Blender could be powered by either regular electrical energy or aura energy. There must have been an issue with the power source that prevented it from producing a pokeblock. No wonder it was sold on the black market for a low price.

Fortunately, the machine could still be operated using aura even though he wasn't yet able to do so.

Now that Vic had solved the problem, there was no reason for him to keep making pokeblocks anymore. He put the machine away with a dejected expression and went back to training aura.

After one more week of non-stop training, Vic finally ushered in the moment of success.

"Is this aura? This is amazing!"

Vic, who had successfully used aura for the first time, looked at the small blue sphere in his palm. Although it was only a momentary flicker, his relentless training had finally paid off.

A single day of aura training wouldn't accomplish much, but it would allow him to use trainer-exclusive items like the space bag and pokeballs. Most importantly, he could resume making pokeblock.

But before that, Vic wanted to check something else.

While seated on the bed, Vic reached under and pulled out the two space bags. The one that Grandma Cici gave had a dagger inside. It appeared to be made from some kind of Pokemon's claws.

Vic went to grab his knife that he always carried with him and tested the dagger's sharpness. He was surprised to see his trusty knife was nearly cut in half. The blade was sharp enough to pierce the tough hides of most Pokemon.

Vic sheathed the knife and inspected the other bag that he received yesterday.

Compared with the first one, this bag was much smaller. That was, however, only in relative terms. There was enough room within the bag to keep a lot of items, allowing for easy travel for a few months.

Vic opened the backpack and found a number of things inside, including tents, sleeping bags, dry food, water kettles, first aid kit, and other things, but nothing particularly valuable.

"Looks like we're in luck, Zorua. We got everything ready for our trip," Vic said to Zorua.

Zorua was curled up next to him, and Vic couldn't help but pat his head. They had been getting along for a while now, and their friendship had grown considerably. A few touches here and there were acceptable now. At first, Zorua would grumble but after some time, he came around to liking it when Vic pet him.
