章 17: Gym of Nacrene City: Part 1
Upon entering the gym, the first thing Touya found was a library with six shelves and many books.
A presenter quite similar to Conse noticed his presence and quickly approached.
"Nice to meet you challenger, welcome to the Nacrene city gym!" said the presenter excitedly.
"Is it you Conse?" Touya asked looking at the host in surprise.
"No, that was my brother, like the nurses we are all the same" said the presenter with an explanatory tone.
"I see, it seems that all the diversity went with the pokémon" Touya said putting a hand on his chin.
"Very interesting deduction, in that case you will like this gym, since to get to the leader you will have to solve puzzles" said the presenter with a smile.
"Is your name Conse too?" Touya asked curiously.
"That's right, the diversity of names also went with the pokémon" Conse said with a smile.
Touya could only giggle at that, then start with the riddles.
"The first clue is in a book in the children's section" Conse said calmly.
After a battle against a trainer with a Patrat, Touya opened the first book and came across a note.
~Hi! I'm the gym leader, your next puzzle is, 'which pokémon had the first trainer you fought with?'~ Touya read from the letter
"He was a Patrat wasn't he?" Touya asked Sawk.
"Sawk" Sawk nodded seriously.
After finding the Patrats book, Touya checked the last page and found another note.
~That was very easy, now your next riddle is, 'his inner fire never stops burning, emits smoke and starts running'~ Touya read.
Touya looked through various books and only the ones other people were using were missing, so he approached them.
"Can you lend me that book?" Touya asked to a woman dressed as a scientist as he pointed to a book she had about engine structure.
"So you solved the puzzle, but to have the book you will have to beat me" said the scientist in a challenging tone.
"Come out Herdier" said the scientist as she threw a pokeball from which Herdier came out.
"Why did it have to be a dog?" Touya said in a tired tone as he sent Sawk to fight.
"Sawk use work uo and then focus energy" Touya said quickly.
"Herdier use work up too" said the scientist a second later.
Sawk and Herdier finished with work up at the same time although Sawk was left doing the focus energy.
"Herdier use tackle" -Scientist.
Sawk use low sweep and then double kick" Touya said quickly.
When Herdier was close enough Sawk kicked him up and then kicked him twice in the air knocking Herdier unconscious.
"Wow, your pokémon is very strong" said the surprised researcher as she healed Herdier.
"I think he overdid it a bit" Touya said with a nervous smile.
"You can take the book, but put it back on its shelf after reading it" said the scientist with a warning tone.
Touya read the book on the structure of engines and found a note on the back of the cover.
~Well done! Your last riddle to get to me is, 'Over low heat you will cook it, you will see how delicious and sweet it will be'~ Touya read from the note.
"I hope it's a cake, because if it's in the pokémon section this will be very murky" Touya said with a bit of fear.
"Sawk" Sawk said with understanding and also a little fear.
Touya looked for a book about pokémon sweets and found a note in it.
~Here is the last puzzle, if I start on this shelf I go back two, one to the left, two forward, one to the right and one to the bottom, where am I?~ Touya read.
Touya searched the bookshelf in front of him and found a trainer guarding a book.
"Do you have the last riddle?" Touya asked curiously.
"That's right, but the problem is, can you beat me?" the trainer said defiantly.
The fight didn't have many interesting things aside from Sawk bullying a legion of Lillipups.
"You beat me, you can take the last book!" the trainer said with a smile.
Touya took the book and found a switch underneath it and then pressed it.
*Click*
The bookshelf began to move to reveal a secret staircase.
"And that's how I discovered the mystery of the gym my dear Watson" Touya said pretending to have a pipe.
After going down the stairs, Touya met an African-American woman with green hair and eyes that radiated character.
"Nice to meet you trainer, I welcome you to your last test to get your badge!" the leader said in an imposing tone.
"I am Aloe, in charge of the preservation of the museum and also the gym leader, prepare for battle!" Aloe said still with an imposing tone.
Touya felt a bit intimidated by her character, but he stood up straight and looked at Aloe with determination making her smile.
And so began the fight against the gym leader.
