Stacie's newly changed bright blue eyes meet my silver ones. What a day! She mind links to me and I shake my head. Did you see how cute my potential mate is Becs! She calls as we trot into the woods.
Dude I couldn't focus on anything but the gorgeous red head. I link back and she lets out a light chuckle. We go to our favorite spot and I jump into the water. I can hear Stacie growl behind me. I look back to see her shaking out the water that splashed her shiny white coat.
Come on in snowy! The water is great! My Omega shakes her head and I roll my eyes. I jump out and rub my wet fur all over her while she growls and tries to get away.
I tackle her, pinning her to her back. Instead of surrendering she shows her teeth. I nuzzle my face into her white fur and the growls are quickly replaced as she purrs in approval. You know I am still in heat. She says giving her best wolf wink. My body heats up while my inner Alpha hums in approval.
Stacie is the one of the two last known omegas. Our species has been slowly dying out over the past few decades and there has not been another Alpha or Omega born, only Betas. Stacie is my Omega but we are not each others true mates. Which sucks because I love her but we just aren't meant to be.
Being a female Alpha also gives me a special... perk. Yup I have a fully functioning penis, but I was born a female. It is super strange for sure. No sex as wolves! I say getting off the Omega who chuckles at my flustered state.
We make our way up to the top of the waterfall and sit back to enjoy the sun setting. Stacie's body nuzzles into mine and I rest my head on her neck. Becs, what does this mean for us? She links so quietly I almost miss it. No matter what, you are my best friend and Omega. Nothing will change that Stace. Besides only they can feel the effects unless we kiss them so we don't have to worry about anything yet. Her body relaxes and I'm hit by her pheromones yet again.
Stacie, can you maybe tone down the heat. I link back fighting the urge to control myself. Beca you know there is only one way to do that. She says nuzzling her face further into my neck. Stacie enters her "heat" once every few months. Being an Alpha it calls to me to claim her and usually triggers my rut. Which basically means lots of sex for the three days it usually lasts. Her scent alone drives me insane.
I can hear your heart rate slowing, should we start to head back? She asks standing up to stretch. I shake my massive head before standing up. I stretch and shake out my black fur. I start running back to our cabin with Stacie right on my tail. Literally.
When we get to the porch I can see the clothes Emily laid out for us. She is so good about caring for us in our supernatural state. The tables have certainly turned. I focus on the calming feeling Stacie is sending out before shifting back into my human form and hurriedly putting on the clothes.
"Thanks for the help." I say looking at the now dressed Stacie. An Omega is the only one besides my mate that can calm me down after a forced shift. Chloe's hug was too much for me to handle hence what just happened. We make our way inside to see Emily looking at us with a big grin.
"How was the shift?" She asks handing us plates of food. We have a very high metabolism and have to eat nearly triple what the average person does. I take a bite out of the steak and moan at the sensation. "This is why you're my favorite daughter." I say greedily taking more bites.
"I'm your only daughter." Emily says rolling her eyes. She isn't actually our blood daughter. Stacie and I found her roughly 15 years ago, abandoned, and we raised her as our own. It worked because Stacie and I talked about trying for a baby. But then we found Emily we knew it was a sign not to have our own.
"Just wait a few more weeks, you will be joining us." Stacie says taking a bite out of the chicken. "If you want of course." I say quickly. "Ma, you know I want this. I read all your journals and books. I know the consequences and I still want to be like you." Emily says rolling her eyes because we have this talk all the time. She only calls us Mom and Ma when we are home. It would look weird otherwise because she is almost my age now, at least the age I was when I stopped aging... confusing again I know.
"I can't wait to finally be out there with you guys! My birthday can't come soon enough!" She says bouncing up and down. I roll my eyes at her enthusiasm. We agreed that if she wanted the bite I would give it to her on her 17th birthday. It is a good time to stop aging. Stacie sometimes has trouble fitting in at high school because she was 20 when she stopped aging. I can blend in at college even though I am stuck at 17. It is really the best age to be able go where ever we want.
"So I'm going out with Amy and the gang for a bit if that is alright?" Emily asks looking for permission from Stacie and I. "Of course Em, be home by 1 though." Emily squeals and throws me into a hug before running to get her shoes.
"Do you have your whistle?" Stacie calls and Emily nods showing us the silver whistle. Its a special frequency that only lycans can hear. We always make her carry it as a just in case. "Of course, I will tell your mates you said hi!" She says with a wink and my jaw drops at the same time as Stacie's. She must have really read those journals and listened when we taught her about our abilities and mates...
She gives us one last hug before running out the door. I smile watching her run out. "How the hell is she already going to be 17?" I say to Stacie as I put our dishes in the sink and start cleaning them. "It feels like just yesterday we found her." Stacie responds wrapping her arms around my waist from behind. "Best day of my life." I say leaning back and accepting a quick kiss from her. We both stand there enjoying each others embrace while I think back to the night we found her. The night that changed everything.
Flashback
I'm telling you I am having a strange feeling in my chest, I need to follow it. I look back at Stacie who is sleeping like she has been for the past few months and it breaks my heart. It's another full moon which means we are forced to shift until the sun comes back. I decide to leave the sleeping wolf and investigate. My ears perk up when I hear what sounds like crying.
Deep in the woods I spot a small child. She can't be more then two and she is dirty and looks thin. She has been alone for a while. I take a step forward but forget my size and end up hitting a branch which snaps. The child stops crying and looks at me with wide eyes.
"Puppy!" She yells holding out her arms. I was not expecting this. I really thought she would be terrified. I slowly make my way towards the small kid so I don't scare her. She keeps her arms out and when I reach her she wraps her arms around my neck. "Hi puppy!" She squeals in an adorable voice. The badass Alpha being choked out by a toddler, thank gods Stacie isn't here to see me.
I block out how many points my reputation is dropping and nuzzle the child. She is freezing and her heart rate sounds slower then it should be. "Cute!" She coos out while petting my snout and I sigh. This kid is really taking my ego down a notch.
What do I do with her? Oh wait I already know the answer. I can sense the bond already forming between us. It happens occasionally, a lycan can form a strong bond to someone other then their mate or pack members if we allow it. It binds us to our human side more. Plus there is Stacie. I know she has wanted a kid, as an Omega it is her natural instinct. Since the miscarriage she has been depressed, maybe this can bring back her smile that I miss so much.
I study the kid trying to think of the best way to carry her back. She is just snuggling into my fur. I carefully grab her worn out shirt and crane my neck so she is near my back. She latches on giggling the whole time. Slowly, I begin walking back to where Stacie was.
Stacie! Get up! I link and Stacie groans. Becs I wanna sleep. I get closer as the child hugs tighter onto my back. Stacie, I found something. She finally opens her eyes. Her mouth drops open seeing the little child riding me like I'm a horse. "Pretty!" The child yells out pointing to the white wolf.
Stacie slowly gets up while the child holds its arms out to her. I think she was abandoned but we need to make sure. If she was left here alone then maybe we could take her in? Stacie carefully approaches us and sniffs the child, who squeals and puts her little hands on Stacie's face.
She is so cute! I want her Becs. Stacie says as the child hugs her head and pets her soft fur. The way the toddler is so comfortable with us I know she belongs here with us. Well maybe we can keep her. Stacie howls in excitement. How could anyone leave a poor child alone in the woods?! Don't they know what kind of monsters are out there... I mean besides us because we are nice! Well to children...
I shake with anger. I want to rip apart whoever would leave her defenseless and alone. Stacie leans against me trying to calm me but I'm seeing red. Suddenly small hands wrap tightly around my back. I look back to see those big brown eyes and I am a goner and all traces of anger leave my body. We need to bring her to the house. The sun will be up soon. We both look at the small child who yawns.
We slowly walk back with Stacie staying right by my side in case the toddler lets go. She holds tight and giggles the whole way back. The sun starts to peak and I know we need to shift. Stacie carefully lifts the kid off my back who giggles more. She seems so happy for someone who has been alone for gods knows how long. Stacie comments.
We quickly step away and the toddler cries. "Puppy no!" She yells holding out her arms. I nuzzle her but I can feel my body starting to tremble. I step back and soon enough I'm human again. I throw on the clothes we left out in record time. Stacie runs back to the toddler who is staring at us with wide eyes.
She carefully picks her up and the child relaxes into her arms. "She is precious." Stacie coos kissing the top of her head. I nod and slowly walk up to the kid. I'm scared to even touch her, she looks so fragile. "It's okay Becs you won't hurt her." I gulp because well I am so scared to hurt the little thing. I haven't had the best record of controlling myself. Stacie gives me a shy smile and start sending a calming scent towards me. I slowly bring my hand up and touch her cheek like she is made of glass. The kid smiles and grabs my arm hugging it. My heart swells looking at her. "Welcome home kiddo."
End Flashback.
It turned out Emily's parents were drunks. They abandoned her because she was apparently " too expensive to care for." They just wanted to spend money on booze instead of caring for their child. It still makes me angry when I think about it. When I found out what they did that was the last time I fully lost control in the past 15 years. I ended them quickly.
"Seriously 17 already." I say shaking my head and heading to the couch with Stacie following me. "Awe Becs! I know she grew up too fast, don't get all sappy on me." I laugh as Stacie rests her head on my lap and I turn on the tv.
"You know you turned out to be a great parent." She says looking up at me and I smile. "I mean after it took you a few months just to hold her because you were scared to break her. And after you stopped throwing up while trying to change her diaper." My face scrunches up remembering all the times I gagged. Stacie would laugh at me and say "The mighty Alpha defeated by a dirty diaper." She chuckles and pinches my cheek. "Not all of us are built to raise a child." I say back and she laughs at me again.
"Sooo Emily will be out for a few more hours and my heat is starting to hurt." Stacie bites her lip and trails her hand down to my chest. I smirk and lean down to connect our lips. "Guess I should take care of that." I mutter between kisses. Hopefully Emily will be gone for a while.
Chloe's POV
After begging my parents to let us go out they reluctantly agreed, it was a Friday after all. We pull up to the address Amy texted us where several cars are already parked. "Wow, looks like a good amount of the school is already here." Aubrey says eyeing the cars. My heart speeds up seeing the black mustang. Is Beca here?!
We get out to see several kids dancing and drinking. This is literally a field with a large bonfire in the middle. Amy spots us and waves us over. "Hey glad you guys could come!" She says with a big grin.
I look around the group and frown not seeing Beca anywhere. "Your lady lovers aren't here. They never come to these things." Amy says with a knowing look at me and Aubrey who were scanning the crowd. Emily comes running up to me a second later with Benji and CR following her like a lost puppies.
"Hey! Chloe and Aubrey right?" She asks and I nod. "Hi Emily." I smile brightly as she hands me a cup of beer. Soon the drinks are flowing and we are all dancing and laughing.
Some football player keeps trying to talk to me but I keep it obvious that I'm not interested. He doesn't seem to be getting it as he tries to convince me to dance with him. "Please, I said no." I tell the guy who rolls his eyes. "Come on beautiful. It would be an honor to have the hottest guy at school asking you to dance. Just accept the blessing." He says grabbing my wrist a bit too tightly causing me to yelp.
Suddenly he is on the ground holding a bloody nose. Emily stands above him with a smirk. "No means no asshole." She gives him one last kick in the side and the guy runs off. "You alright Chloe?" Emily asks looking at the bruise already forming on my wrist.
"Yes, thank you." I say back noticing she starts to craddle her hand. I grab a cold beer and place it on her hand and she hisses in pain. "Wow, thank you Emily! I didn't think I could get here fast enough when I saw that jerk." Aubrey says inspecting me for any other injuries.
"You have a mean right hook girl! Where did you learn that?" CR says with an impressed grin. Emily shrugs and looks at the ground. "Beca taught me." She says and the group tenses up and doesn't ask anything else. Soon the party dies down. I stay with Emily making sure her hand is okay while saying goodbye to the last members of Amy's group. Its only the three of us enjoying the warm fire.
I'm debating how to get her to say more about my not so secret crush when I hear a sickening howl. My eyes widen as a grey beast covered in blood stands at the edge of the clearing. With a terrifying growl it runs towards us.
